AIT Shuts Down Lagos Office After Months of Operational and Rumoured Salary Challenges

The Lagos office of Africa Independent Television (AIT) has been shut down following persistent financial and operational challenges faced by its parent company, Daar Communications Plc.

Sources confirmed that the management ordered the closure after months of struggling to sustain operations at the Lagos bureau due to high maintenance costs and dwindling revenue.

It was gathered that delayed salary payments and rising operational expenses had worsened the situation, making it difficult for the station to continue broadcasting effectively.

While AIT’s Lagos branch has been closed, sister stations RayPower FM and Faaji FM are reportedly still on air and continuing normal operations.

The development is seen as a major setback for AIT, one of Nigeria’s pioneering private television stations, which for years maintained a strong presence in Lagos as a key hub for national and international news production.

As of press time, Daar Communications Plc has not issued any official statement regarding the shutdown or future plans for the Lagos office.

They should quietly Decamp to APC if they want to bounce back

LoL.
I hope Arise is learning a good lesson from what is happening to AIT.
If they continue to allow Rufai run wild, they will hit a suit that will send down....

I still wonder what Dopkesi did with his share of the $2B Dasuki arms deal funds.
Smartcitizen:
AIT was down because of Tinubu's fumbling government useless policies not mismanagement.

If you are not shameless you will also know that a lot of companies have packed shop since this monster came on board.

🥱🥱🥱
This what happens when people decide to place their brains under a stone.
The same AIT that already shutdown their Benin office evenlong before Tinubu became president, the same AIT that couldn't pay salaries long before Tinubu became president?

I heard the government is building psychiatrist hospitals around the Southeast, don't wait for them to kick off, please check yourself into the nearest available one before you start biting people.

How you can open your mouth and start talking about something you know absolutely nothing about is amazing.
Do you even know what DAAR communication shares were worth before Tinubu took over?

If a giant media house like AIT would go broke, then it's not just politics, it's targeted and it's a very bad omen.

Every media house has a political leaning. AIT is not different. APC is moving in a self destructive mode.

You might think that this development is because the founder Dr Dorkpesi is no more that's why the company is failing. Daar Communication has been on life support machine even while the owner was alive. If you watch their TV stations and listen to their radio stations you would know.

Doing TV business in Nigeria is not cheap. It's very very expensive, and unless you are ready to keep it simple, keep it short, you will run out of business

AIT is closing down one office...remember Network Nigeria that started strong and then went belly up months later? Jobs lost.

AIT even sacked hundreds of workers in 2007/8 if I recall.

Eeyah, no more free money from government as they use to get during the PDP administration. AriseTV is next.

What if it's coz of Rufai that we subscribe our decoder for?

The signs are all over that this would happen.

AIT reigned supreme and was a darling to Nigerians but times and seasons do change and the once most watched TV station is over taken by the likes of Arise and Channels.

At those predicting the fall of Arise because of Rufai, maybe you should know that Rufai is one of the reasons for their massive viewship.

You can argue but DYOR!

Exousiang01:
That was the same way AIT was enjoying it until they got sued for N150billion naira and they never recovered from it.

But if you subscribe your decoder because of Rufai, yours is a case of mental health you need to see a doctor.
If you are a Nigerian, you need mental help already for having this mindset...

Hahahahah.
What mindset?
Understanding that in a civilized world people don't run their mouth anyhow?
Every Nigerian is not living in the jungle you live in, most of us live in the part of Nigeria were law and order works.
If you feel that someone who feels that rules of law should be in place has mental problem then it's obvious than insanity is a norm to you already.

You feel that AIT getting sued for libel is wrong because you believe in barking around without caution

Netflix, Social Media, Football streaming apps have rendered watching TV useless. AIT will not be the only TV station that will close down..

The Era of TV is gradually coming to an end. Can’t remember the last time I switch on my TV cuz I have Netflix, Natgeo wild & sport apps on my phone..

Most companies in Lagos are running on a very thi n margin, the eateries are gradually going, the small telcos are struggling, the hospitals, hotels are groaning on high diesel costs and thin margin sales , the only industry growing is the banks and oil companies.
