Do we still have an army? I don't believe so, at least not with what terrorists and killer herdsmen have been doing up north.

Na propaganda go Kee this administration and their e-rats.

Deadly ni, weapons ko

Collections of outdated and archaic 1940s warplanes used during 2nd world war...and those ineffective non combatant & dilapidated ships docked at our waters.

Wic serious nation still imports or buys Tucano war planes?

There is a clear difference between war planes and fighter jets..

We cnt even boast of ordinary flying drones for security surveillance despite huge annual military budgetary allocations.

The only modern military hardwares in Nigeria military are those of INNOSON's armored trucks.

Nigeria is like an active crime scene...
Seasonal movies...it keep giving.

The idea that war brings peace is a good as any reason to disregard religions a with violent rhetoric. Let Christians not exempt themselves from this. Christian Zionists are openly asking for children to continue to be slaughtered. Muslim jihadists b3li3ve they must kill all infidels who do not agree with their agenda and doctrines.

Is something fundamentally wrong with you p3ople?

lol. chai Nigerians una de make me laff. All this expired and outdated stuff wei de west cant even keep? You guys had better wake up. All these things mentioned here can only be used when we engage in war within Africa alone. Get that clear.
And why would we go and fight ANOTHER COUNTRY? Our only major problems for now is INSURGENCY WITHIN THE COUNTRY?

Mind you, there's NO COUNTRY AROUND US that can withstand this little military equipments.

The only time we'll have western interference in event a war breaks out is if we want to annex part of a country like Benin Republic, Togo or Niger Republic which is highly unlikely at the moment.

Lies lies and so much damn lies. None of those weapons are top of the range in anyway. Nigeria and the author of this article is a joke if he thinks any of what he listed above makes Nigeria's armed forces deadly in any way.

The Mi-35m which is a russian built combat helicopter was formerly regarded as a capable platform until mere 500 dollar drones that Ukraine cobbled together, made mincemeat of it. The Mi-35m costs within the range of 8 million-12 million dollars.

The T-72 is a joke of immense proportions with its terrible design that basically turns it into a cookbox that cooks off when hit due to how its shells are stored. They've not fared too well in Ukraine and Russia has all but abandoned them.

The J-17 thunder is a semi decent Chinese made fighter jet that as recently as a couple of months back saw action when Pakistan and India went at it. Pakistan did say that it used the J-17 to score direct air to air kills against a couple of Western made fighter jets operated by India. India and the West didn't refute that so it stands to say that the J-17 is an attack platform that will get the enemy to sit up.

Computer simulations conducted by the US puts the J-17 a step or two ahead of A and B block F-16s. Though there is no realistic data on how both platforms will operate when faced against each other in the real world.

If Nigeria had any where near decent leadership, we could be needling the US for a couple of Apaches and export variants of the M1 Abrams tanks. Those are game changing weapon platforms that the US has provided to Egypt and South Africa.

We call ourselves the giant of Africa but all we have is a catapult compared to what South Africa and Egypt have. Na mouth we get. Workings we no fit show.
Those things cost money too
Dollars gor that matter

The funniest part to me is when they said they have 6 attack helicopters
A whole country !!!
6 attack hellis
Just Pathetic !!!

Of what use are the weapons if insecurity has been at an all time high and is still ravaging the society?
True strength isn’t in firepower but in how effectively it’s used to protect citizens.
America, Britain etc had much more than this yet they spent 20 years in Afghanistan and still got defeated by the Talibans, you didn't say anything about it then.
Most of you dont know the difference between terrorism and convectional warfare.
You could have a terrorist living next door to you right now waiting for the right time to get instructions to drop a bomb on your street, you will dine and wine with him and call him your friend till the day he is activated.
Terrorism is the most difficult war to fight.

And you mean Nigeria has more advance and better military technology than these countries right.

So, we self get deadly weapons. The same thing you can find in other countries. By the way, what is the use of it if we can't use them against bandits and other security challenges that we have?

These toys and outdated hunting guns are what you described as heavy military equipments?

Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia etc boast of F16, F35 , Su95, Tu95, flankkars, Rafael fighters , submarines, modern long range drone attack machines etc.

Please stop embarrassing yourself Nigeria is still a kid in military matters.

When you haven't been to another man's farmland, you will think your father has the largest farm. Keep on deceiving yourself. It's not by population alone. The insurgency you are referring to—how far?

I think the beauty of a weapon is it's usage and lethal efficacy. Not how it's crafted.

Is there any record of such ?

You make a valid point, terrorism is indeed a complex and unconventional threat that even the most advanced nations struggle with.

However, my comment isn’t about comparing Nigeria’s situation to global conflicts or undermining the difficulty of fighting terrorism. It’s about accountability and strategy. Having powerful weapons means little if they don’t translate into better security outcomes for citizens.

The issue isn’t the existence of terrorism, it’s whether the resources and intelligence at our disposal are being effectively used to prevent attacks and protect lives.

Weapons wey dem don dash Bokoharam finish .

Na only helicopter remain to dash dem.

In fact, na bokoharam in the army Dey fly those helicopters, that’s why they will kill vigilantes instead of killing terrorists, and say it was a mistake.

A few things are missing. I guess for strategic reasons. One is our extensive ISR capabilities. There are a few other things in the works that will make this a solid regional power.

There is no problem at all. Bamdits and Bokoharam have noted. Any time Nigeria acquire like 5 military machines, bandit will collect 1, bokoharam will collect. The exchange is staged as ambush.

Which Africa? Say Boko Haram. All these Arab African countries has more sophisticated weapons than Nigeria especially Egypt.

What can you do for your country? what you guys do all year long is just to blame leadership on this & that.
If you were giving the contract to procure modern armament, i am most certain you are going to steal/cheat for your own personal benefits.
Better go and find something doing with your life than coming online blaming leadership.
Mind you, its only countries that engage in all sort of warfare are the ones that usually update their military/Tech on steady basis.
Why should a country like Singapore/Switzerland have time for all that, they would rather focus on civilian infrastuture & development.
Wetin concern Iceland & CostaRica with army.
LethalSam:
This is so laughable. I am not impressed at all. Not looking down on my country in any way - God forbid! We can have one of the best military services in the world if only we have a functional leadership that understands the importance of a strong military and how having one can win us the respect of other nations. However, I strongly doubt that our current crop of leaders are ready for any serious business other than lining their pockets.
