Ánd I'm sure you have never met an Akwa ibom or Calabar person in your life before otherwise you would have known that they share similar things in common with the Igbo and they mix very well. Go to Abia State, there's a place in Aba around Umuogele where you will find lots of akwa Ibom people who have mixed with the Igbo so much you will not even know whether you're in Akwa ibom or Abia State... I know that history was not taught to you in school, but the igbos and Ibibio, annang and Efik people have always intermixed via marriage, trade and culture pre colonial times and up till today. Animosity between the Ibibio, Efik, Oron, Annang people and the Igbos only exists on the minds of Southwesters, all these people will rather go with the Igbo than with the Yoruba or any of ethnicity across the Niger.

I am not speaking for others, but I can assure you that when the time comes which will be very soon cos Nigeria isn't sustainable with the way we run the government now....and Igbo tries to bully those people, dem go collect. So, keep living in your lost glory. The old eastern region is gone and gone for good. The era is gone finally and totally.

Just like the Benin people don't want Yoruba to dominate them which will not make them join South West.....Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States will not join Igbo again. They have been shouting it from day 1.

I believe the north will accept its faith and leave out parts of Kwara, Kainji down to Jebba to Yoruba. Benin will not join Yorub and they are OK. Yoruba will not make any noise about it. But Igbo will always be stubborn. Dem say dem no want you...una wan force them. Una go collect..

Good Idea, YES, Nigeria can be collapsed into 6 regions
the regions be allowed resource control and be remitting 25-30 % to the Federal government
FG should be more involved in regulation
Each region should uphold and empower its local government system to deliver dividends of Democracy
federal legislations should be only one house (senate) i.e reps should go to regions
Nigeria truly needs restructuring for us to develop better as a Nation

You people are always in the habit of deciding for the people of South South and telling them who they are and aren't, telling them who they should associate with and who they shouldn't. But in reality These people are very weary of you people and are aware of how deceptive you people are.

I stay in Lagos, and the Calabar people and Akwa ibom people here do not hide their disdain for your people, even one of them warned me to be careful of my association with the your people. They know you people very well, they know how you people like to sow enmity among friends and relatives.

Marriages is one thing, cultural association and similarities is another. The Igbo and Ibibio people share cultural similarities since they live very close to each other for millennias reason why they will always align with the Igbo than with even the Annang, same with the Efik.

I'm glad you know that you can't speak for others so Why bother? The Igbo have lived and shared boundaries with the Ibibio, Efik,Oron and Annang people for centuries without any major conflict between them, in fact, the ijebu and Egba, Egbado, Ọyọ and Ibadan people have fought more wars amongst themselves compared to Igbo and Ibibio, and These Tribes still hold resentment and animosity towards eachother so much that they don't marry themselves. But such a thing does not exist between the Igbo and their nextdoor neighbours, the same people who you claim don't want or like the Igbo. Quite ironic and somewhat hilarious to even think about.

We know you people and your tactics. Look at how you're on this thread crying for people who don't even like you in the first place. Trying to dictate to them whom they should associate with and who they shouldn't. Very funny set of people you guys are. Very divisive, cunning, hypocritical and two faced set of people.

Yes Igbos were with them before the war and before the leadership of the East was handed over to them. Before the leadership was handed to them Igbos were as cool as a kitten. And let it be known here that the ibibios, annang, orons and efiks do not hate yorubas, hausa/Fulani nor do they hate any other ethnicities from other part of the Nigeria. I shouldn't have replied to your comment because I can deduce that you're probably not from any of these tribes, because the fact that you say that Annang are closer to igboland More than Ibibio geographically just exposes how little you know about Akwa ibom people and the Abia State. I'm from ikwuano and I have a house in Aba very close to Akwa ibom, so I know exactly what I'm talking about. In fact, Akwa ibom women carry their goods on bicycles from Akwa ibom to opobo junction Market in Aba to sale every single day, that's to show you how close these places are.
The Ibibio and Igbo people have been sharing borders for centuries. There's been lots of intermixing among these two groups and it's very easy for an Akwa ibom man, especially Ibibio and Annang to understand Igbo language if they put their mind to it because the two languages while being distinct are from the same language family.

The funny thing is that my colleague here in Lagos who is from Akwa ibom, whenever he's traveling to his place, he always refer to it as Southeast and never South South. The Ibibios and Annang are actually in South East and not in South South.... Actually, there's nothing like South South.

I didn't say that Akwa ibom people hate other ethnicities, I said that they are weary of Yoruba people and that's a fact! And they're more likely to align and join with the Igbo than with any other ethnicity across the Niger. Yes they would prefer to stay on their own but if the choice is to stay with Igbo or other ethnicities across the Niger they will choose the Igbo because they're more related than the others.
