One of the thing I have had to learn along the way of my admission journey is that, you can ask the admission office anything you're not clear about and you'll be responded to swiftly. Ask the admission office of the school and you'd be given an update, if they accept bank letter or not cus it some scenarios they might no longer be accepting it but it's still listed in the form. I'm saying this from the place of experience and if there's anyone here that's in the school or have gone through the school route, they can help you. Shalom. |

Someone based in Houston has a free room and private bathroom in a beautiful environment. If you know any Nigerian college students or someone just starting out in Houston who wants to stay for free in exchange for occasional babysitting ~ 10 hours a week. Kids go to full time daycare so your weekdays are entirely free. Just need someone on the few nights a month the mother works. Plus house is big. Female preferable but males could be considered. Send a message if you know anyone. |

RashidT3Y:After 60 days, you can send an email in a specified format as they won't respond to normal emails. I was also on AP from June to August and they responded after I sent the email using the format specified by them, my wife also went through the same process. The Abuja visa navigation page: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc1wt8xb3LubFFSlvlLUNi3HOnIcZxquaZyClg3Y3HxlSWbXQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0 Answer as it fits your situation and they'll tell you the format down to the subject title. Good luck |

DenChi101:■ Bank statement is better because it shows the details of funds movement . Bank letter is usually one page which only talks about how much you have in a bank. Your host- University, and the U.S embassy prefers bank statement. Some embassies who finds it difficult to verify your bank statement usually ask you to send a bank letter along (with bank contact information). Bank Statement is usually the better.👍 |

Davsidoo:■ When you are in need of an urgent response and no one is forthcoming the best thing for you to do is to go back to the beginning or middle of this thread and you would have seen where this particular topic is treated successfully. The normal thing to do in order to introduce yourself to the embassy as an incoming interviewee is to pick any date you see first. After this you will have five times (5x) of grace to reschedule the fist pick in order to match with your intended date. If that did not work eventually , then you can use the last option of applying for Emergency Appointment. Without you picking a date first you won't be able to see any of those options, you will be as good as someone who have not even purchase visa fee. |

Efetobore1980:Thank you for your help. One more question please 🙏🏽 How close to intended date of arrival before one can book the emergency appointment? Also considering that I’m F2, is the proof of leave of absence from place of work enough to show why I neeed to book the emergency appointment? |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Nobody: 5:03pm On Oct 22, 2025 |
Efetobore1980:Thanks. It's a week now, and my name is still not booked. Hmmm. I don't want to risk this, because it may backfired at the new interview day. My fear now is, IF I PAY ANOTHER MRV OPENING ANOTHER APPLICATION, WON'T THE SYSTEM FLAG THAT AS DOUBLE APPLICATION? WON'T THIS BLOCK ME FROM BOOKING ANY APPOINTMENT AT ALL? I NEED YOUR GUIDIANCE ON THIS. |

Davsidoo:No one here can tell you how close to your intended arrival date you can book for emergency appointment . If you don't see a suitable day to reschedule then submit a emergency request with what you have .leave of absence. Then you hope for the best. |

hallysonia:You are overthinking this. Pay another mrv and book another appointment for yourself. You have already been interviewed so you can not reschedule. You will take your kids for their own interview as expected. Better do your own new booking and pick any date you see, you might be lucky that the VO that sees your kids would interview you as well |

Davsidoo:■ You can book now. The official rule for F1-visa applicants on ER application is 3- months prior to your resumption, and what apply to f1 also apply to f2. ● Form-I20 is all an F1-visa applicant needed to upload on ER application , so same also applies to you as f2. You may however merge your work-leave letter to it. 👍 |

Hello I recently started my F1 Visa application, and I've gotten all necessary documents from my school but when I tried to book an appointment, I can only see Oct 2026 and I have to resume school before Jan 12. So, I applied for Expedite request and fortunately, it got approved same day but my issue now is that I still don't have a date yet. For Lagos, I can only see Oct 2025 without any appointment and for Abuja, I am seeing January and other dates for 2026. I am confused and don't even know what to do. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Efetobore1980(m): 8:46am On Oct 24, 2025 |
YussufLaaro:■ Pick the January in Abuja. You still have 3/4 times to reschedule and before the end of the year you will certainly secure November/December. If you hesitate the opportunity will disappear. 👍 |

Hello everyone, please I need some advice. I completed my masters in US and started a funded PhD program ( I am with my child). My husband is in the UK as a student and plans to go for F2 interview. However,my visa expires after the masters but I have a valid i20 for my phd program. I am worried about this situation if it wouldn't affect his interview. I will appreciate your comments. Thank you |

Moren002:■ You dont need any f1 visa renewal again since your studentship is still valid courtesy of your new PhD Form-I20, and if you dont plan to go outside of the USA anytime soon. Your present status is okay in the U.S and if you keep maintaining it you will ended up having a good reputation as a scholar. However, you and your hubby has made a mistake for opting for F2 since he is still a student in the UK. He should have opted for B2 visit. He will need lot of explanation to do in his DS-160 and verbally to the consular officer why he wanted to jettison his UK study to join you. Even if this is not your plans , he has applied for a wrong visa type already, based on his status in the UK as an International Student. |

huzzman:■ Read what is written inside the white paper you got on the 20th of October and tell us the label ie 221G or 214B or Pick up Slip. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by huzzman: 5:48pm On Oct 24, 2025 |
Efetobore1980:Hi, it’s 221G. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Efetobore1980(m): 5:59pm On Oct 24, 2025 |
huzzman:■ The refused is normal on the dashboard because 221g is temporary refusal which means the embassy is doing some background checks on your applications or your applications lack some documents or whatever. 221g can mean anything but the moment you re cleared your visa will be granted because you actually qualified. Go and get your passport the visa might be there already or another 221g note asking you to provide additional information or document, or your passport can be returned with 214b permanent denial. ■ I pray its positive 🙏 |

huzzman:@huzzman The first 221g note you got from the embassy will contain some information or instruction.I do hope you followed the instructions written there ? Otherwise it is dangerous. |
