Lol. Technically speaking, it is a demotion for him. CDS is a ceremonial position without any direct command of any of the branches. The COAS has more power than the CDS, even though the CDS is higher in rank. this is because the CDS cannot issue a direct order to any of the service branch chiefs. The Service branch chiefs receive orders from the C_in_ C directly, hence a more powerful and lucrative position than the CDS who is more like an adviser

That is why as a president, never entrust key military formations in the hand of those not from your region. One region is impatient and wants power to return to them as soon as possible, another region because of their hate are doing everything possible to make sure the country burns so that power will leave the southwest.
