NAF EXPLORES ADVANCED TRAINING AND TECHNOLOGICAL SYNERGIES IN CANADA TO BOOST OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS In furtherance of ongoing efforts to enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen strategic partnerships, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) sent a delegation of three senior officers led by Air Commodore AH Idris, the Director of Training, to the International Test Pilot School (ITPS) in Canada. The visit reflects the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, to delivering effective and smarter airpower in counterinsurgency operations through global collaboration, advanced training, and continuous technological innovation. The engagement provided a platform to explore avenues of partnership between the NAF and ITPS in key areas of aircrew and technical capacity development. Specifically, discussions centred on basic flying training, training of maintenance personnel, as well as engine and airframe overhauls. The delegation also explored prospects for upgrading aircraft cockpits to significantly enhance efficiency, mission readiness, and operational safety. During the visit, the team held several productive meetings and toured the training, maintenance, and administrative departments of the institution to gain first-hand insights into ITPS’s advanced training methodologies and technical standards. The visit underscores the NAF’s proactive pursuit of strategic collaborations that align with the Chief of the Air Staff’s command philosophy of transforming the Service into an agile and technology-driven force, capable of effectively protecting innocent lives and property across the nation. #SmarterAirpower #NAFTraining #StrategicPartnerships #AirForceTransformation #GlobalCollaboration

bidexiii:NIce one. However, for this to make sense, you need good numbers at least 1 in each Local Government, with proper training provided to operators and good communication between the operation base and teams in the field. If not, these would simply be decoration, which will only be utilized in action if the family member of a dignitary is kidnapped. |

Troops humiliate ISWAP in Ngamdu, kill 15 terrorists in ngamdu battle In yet another demonstration of tactical superiority and resilience, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 15 insurgents and uncovering their mass grave. Zagazola Makama learnt that the attack, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, was described by military sources as “one of the most daring but costly misadventures” by ISWAP fighters, who launched simultaneous assaults on troops from three different flanks. According to reliable sources, the terrorists began the offensive from the Gonori axis around 3 a.m., apparently to divert troops’ attention from their main objective. The diversionary assault was swiftly contained by the gallant troops, forcing the attackers to retreat with casualties. The second wave of attack, launched along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway, involved the use of command Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), rocket-propelled grenades. Despite the intensity of the assault, troops advancing from Benisheikh managed to charge through the ambush position, though one Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle sustained damage to its engine and tyres. The third flank of the attack targeted Alpha Company’s defensive location near the main supply route, but despite minor infiltration into their outer perimeter, the soldiers held their ground firmly and neutralized several of the attackers in close-quarter combat. The sources said four soldiers paid the supreme price while three were wounded in action during the encounter. Subsequent intelligence gathered from local sources revealed that ISWAP fighters conducted a mass burial for 15 of their slain members at Bula Wura village near Wasaram, less than 24 hours after the failed operation. “The attack was well-coordinated but the response was even more professional. The terrorists came in waves, using multiple tactics, but our men held their ground and made them pay heavily,” said one military sources. The military has also intensified clearance operations along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway after terrorists planted IEDs to delay reinforcements. The road was temporarily closed for demining operations to ensure the safety of commuters. As the military continues to dominate the theatre of operations, local communities are beginning to express renewed confidence in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, which have seen a steady decline in insurgent activities across major highways and rural settlements in recent months. VonSmallhausen:1 in each local government would equals 774 units. At a unit cost of $24,000, buying won’t be a problem. The major issue is can the Nigerian Police be trusted to maintain them well, keep them operational and not sabotage parts of the drone to sell for personal gain. |

NAF BOOSTS AIRSPACE SECURITY WITH GRADUATION OF ANTI-UAV RADAR OPERATORS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has achieved another major milestone in its quest for technological advancement and enhanced airspace security with the graduation of personnel trained on the Anti-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Radar System. The graduation ceremony, held on 17 October 2025 at Headquarters Air Component, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Maiduguri, Borno State, reaffirmed the Service’s unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s air defence architecture against emerging aerial threats. Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, the Chief of Communication and Information Systems (CCIS), Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Kabir Usman, described the graduation as a strategic step in fortifying the nation’s air defence network, adding that it comes at a time when drone technology continues to redefine global and national security dynamics. Air Vice Marshal Usman emphasised that asymmetric warfare has evolved beyond traditional methods, with adversaries now employing advanced technologies such as drones for reconnaissance and offensive operations. He, however, noted that the NAF’s capacity, resolve, and preparedness remain superior through sustained training, innovation, and investment in cutting-edge defence systems. He further highlighted key initiatives driving the Service’s modernisation agenda, including the Military Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria (MTRACON) Project, establishment of the Directorate of Cybersecurity, and ongoing specialised programmes in surveillance and spectrum monitoring — all aimed at ensuring the NAF remains adaptive and technologically dominant in contemporary warfare. In his remarks, the Air Component Commander, OPHK, Air Commodore UU Idris, commended the graduands for their professionalism and dedication, urging them to deploy their expertise with vigilance and integrity in defending national assets. He described the Anti-UAV Radar as an advanced system capable of detecting low, slow, and small aerial targets that conventional radars might miss. The CAS, through his representative, commended both the graduands and instructors for their commitment, while expressing appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support to the Nigerian Air Force. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to continuous innovation, human capacity development, and technological progress in line with his command philosophy: “to transform the Nigerian Air Force into an agile and resilient force capable of effectively meeting the airpower demands of national security in all operational environments.” #NigerianAirForce #AirDefence #AntiUAV #TechnologicalAdvancement #NAFTransformation #OPHK #AirPower #Innovation

Troops kill over 50 terrorists as they repel multiple attacks in Borno, Yobe Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed more than 50 terrorists and repelled multiple coordinated attacks on military locations across Borno and Yobe States, in what has been described as the biggest blow against insurgents in 2025. The Nigerian military said the simultaneous attacks occurred between midnight and 0400 hours on Thursday when terrorists launched assaults on troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo and Katarko, situated within Sectors 1 and 2 of the Joint Operations Area. Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East (OPHK), in a statement on Thursday in Maiduguri, said the troops fought gallantly and professionally, repelling the attacks and inflicting devastating losses on the terrorists. “In all instances, troops stood firm, fought gallantly, and professionally repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy, decisive and bloody blow,” Uba stated. The coordinated ground and air operations, backed by precision strikes from the Air Component of OPHK, led to the neutralisation of over 50 terrorists across all the locations. According to him, troops also recovered 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, five RPG tubes, two GPMGs, hand grenades, and thousands of assorted rounds of ammunition after the clashes. “The precision strikes, coupled with enhanced battlefield awareness provided by the Theatre’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, gave troops additional leverage and impetus to respond with overwhelming and lethal force,” Uba added. He disclosed that over 70 wounded terrorists were being pursued by ground troops, with the Air Component maintaining close coordination to ensure total clearance of the fleeing remnants. More Intelligence reports, indicated that the attackers who stormed Dikwa and Gajibo manoeuvred from the Cameroon axis, while those who attacked Katarko emerged from the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious terrorist enclave. The gallant troops sustained injuries but were in stable condition, while some vehicles and buildings in Mafa and Dikwa were gutted by fire following RPG and drone attacks by the terrorists. He noted that despite the heavy onslaught, the troops maintained control of all their positions and repelled the coordinated strikes with renewed strength and professionalism. “The Military High Command has commended the gallantry, doggedness and renewed charge of the troops. Their steadfast performance once again reaffirms the military’s unwavering resolve and capacity to defend the nation’s territorial integrity,” he added. Security analysts described the coordinated defeat of the terrorists across multiple fronts as the single largest operational success against insurgents in 2025, marking a major turning point in the counter-terrorism campaign in the North East.
