He spends on transportation, he also has dependants like his dad and mum and siblings and also hospital bills for his family and that of his parents.

The salary he was receiving 10 years ago has more value than the present salary as naira was stronger then.

The future looks very bleak for the civil servant as there is no more gratuity unlike before as it is now contributory saving as it is what you save is what you will be paid when you retire.

No wonder Directors are now quitting their duty post and travelling out of the country because they see no hope.

You will have like 7.5 million to your 4 million, that’s if sold at #50 naira. That’s around 12 million. You say it like its that easy. If its like that everyone would be done it. I worked in the civil service for 5 years and not everyone can leave their duty post. At some point I was working 9-8pm. Especially in the Lagos civil service, it is getting structured more like private firms in recent years.

Nothing is easy Baba, dieing is not also easy, some people are more busier than you and they find time to do what ever else they want to do. I do go out and teach from 7 Am till 9 pm everyday for many years ago, yet I had a farm then. Farming does not really need you to be present always. Their are Ton of stuff you can plant that you will only be going their like once in a month. In fact, some like 3 months to 6 months. So, not every plants require you to be present always.

The government needs to ensure as a matter of urgency that basic needs like food and some certain medications are subsidized for the masses

When civil servants were agitating for salary increment, those who knew better, told them that instead of receiving lorryloads of wads of notes as salaries, they should instead agitate for a stronger Naira but, all pleas fell on deaf ears.

What we have today is lot of money buying fewer goods and services.

Once the Naira increases in value, just a little amount would be enough to buy a lot of goods and services.

Today, the Kobo denomination has totally gone into extinction because it's absolutely valueless.

There were times past when coins were used but not anymore.

Even if salaries are increased again today, the same scenario would repeat itself like an unending cycle.

The FG must put on its thinking cap to reverse the trend.

In the 70s, the Naira was actually higher than the United States Dollar (USD) but the reverse is the case today due to wrong fiscal and monetary policies.
