Hehe. He knew he couldn't control Elrufai that's why he refused to anoint him. He knew the late Yaradua had health issues which was a weakness. Oga OBJ, how did you appoint Elrufai to head the critical FCT ministry if the latter is not 'mature'?

In the current age, Elrufai is arguably the most misunderstood politician in Nigeria. Yet, it's difficult to find an effective administrative-politician like him who made positive marks in all the public office he has held. It's well known that Elrufai had good plans on the power sector until Tinubu decided to do away with him via a veiled 'security report'.

Many people view him as a bigot, but he actually isn't anything close to that. A lot of the narratives out there in the media about the southern Kaduna crises do not give a full situational perspective.For a decades long crisis, it's painted as if it's Elrufai that fired the first salvo that turned the residents against each other. Elrufai came with an intent to resolve the crises but it appeared some powers within SK had ulterior motives and pounced back on him via the media narratives which they control. To this day, Elrufai continues to defend his stances on the issue. But unfortunately, people choose to look the other way.

I suspect that was the real reason. He did not want someone very corrupt to take over.

Apt. He passed up on Elrufai after losing out on 3rd term agenda and imposed a sick Yaradua and a pliable Jonathan on Nigerians to rule by proxy. Only to resort to letter writing when Jonathan dared to be his own man. Despite all his excesses, Obasanjo remains the most detribalized Nigerian till date and assembled a cabinet that no single President has matched till date. In hindsight, his quest for third term may not have been bad afterall but we will never know.

A 100 likes for this comment. He was the most detribalised leader with the best economic team till date. A man of grit and steel, who exhibited great love for the country through his actions. He played a great in steadying the ship of this country.

Osubidients will be confused on how to react to this - abuse Obasanjo or commend him for rejecting their newfound Saint El-Rufai?

Ditto. You're only partially correct yourself. Chidoka was 34 and Elrufai was 43 but Chidoka was the one who recommended Elrufai to Obasanjo. Not vice versa.

Chidoka only recommended El-Rufai to be Obasanjo successor after Obasanjo 8 years Tenure . El-Rufai has been with Obasanjo way before Chidoka came into the pictures. As matter of fact, Chidoka came in with El-Rufai referral.

OBJ didn't condemn El RUFAIi but just threw a jab for the fun of it.

OBJ and El RUFAIi remains darling to OBIDIENTS and the Igbos

Former Minister of humanitarian, beta edu, was in her 30s, when she was appointed.

I don't think so everyone saw how southern kaduna people were massacred in their thousands during when el rufai was governor of kaduna state what do u think would have happened if same el rufai was given the
opportunity to be president?.
