People who come up with topics like this one are only half clever…. The question everyone should be asking is the category of people earning 1k in the US and those earning 1.5 million in Nigeria…. 1k usd isn’t up to the minimum wage in America but 1.5m naira is like 20 times the minimum wage |

Instead, we use our cheap labour advantage to make domestic life comfortable — not to build export powerhouses. This fact of the matter, and is the very deep narrative. |

As someone who went and then returned and then went back again, I assure you Nigeria will deal with you. You can lose all you worked for in 15 years abroad in just 2 years in Nigeria. Nigeria is a very very expensive country especially in relative terms. Eg in the UK, petrol costs say 1.50 that's 3000 naira per litre, and in Nigeria just 1000 naira per litre. You might say oh petrol is 3 times as expensive in the UK as it is in Nigeria. But the min wage in the UK IS nearly 13 quid per hour that's 26000 naira, meaning your 1hr salary can buy 8 litres of fuel in the UK. But in Nigeria monthly min wage is 75k , assuming an 8hr a day working week that's 160hours a month which translates to just under 500 naira per hour, which means ur hourly salary in Nigeria can't even buy a litre of petrol, it can't even buy a loaf of bread.. For your 1 hour salary to be able to buy 8 litres of fuel in Nigeria you will need to earn 1.3m a month which is 17 times the minimum wage. |

FreeIgboho:I don't know about you, but my broda based in the canada with his family of 5 earns $6k after tax doing blue collar. This year alone he has saved $12k in his S&P 500(he sent me a screenshotof this and was thanking God he left naija 3 years ago). You people should tell young nigerians the truth! They are wasting away in nigeria. How many upper-middleclass people can save 15million a year in naija? Also you should know that food is very cheap. Those places you mentioned are high end restaurants. You will get a decent naija meal for at least $20 |

Don27tiky:you guys still don't understand. No one earns $1,000 monthly in US. No work will pay you that amount in US. No one can survive on $1,000 in US. US minimum wage is far above that $1,000 |

FreeIgboho:U dont compare what doesn't make sense. In that USA, a monthly minimum wage can get u 6bags of 50kg rice and change go dey. How many bags of rice can monthly minimum wage in Nigeria buy you? That is what u should be comparing. |

ADUBA1:It is very green on the other side If i am working in USA and earn their monthly minimum wage, i can comfortably afford 6bags of 50kg rice in that same USA. If i am working in Nigeria and earning monthly minimum wage in Nigeria, i cant comfortably buy one bag in the same Nigeria. The person converting $1000 that is even less than their monthly minimum wage to Nigerian N1.5million, Let him convert Nigeria minimum wage 70k to USD lets see if he can buy a pencil in the US🤣 |

smartkester:why the guy said so is because 1000 dollars is equivalent to #1.5m . Since that is still too small for you . Between someone who earn $10,000 per month living in America and someone who earns the equivalent of #15,000,000 per month living in Nigeria, who will live better? |
