Kalulu44:Inferiority complex is your problem. There is NO slum in America or ANYWHERE ON EARTH that is comparable to "some estates in Lekki and Abuja." AND DON'T BOTHER RESPONDING, because I lived overseas longer than you've been alive. |

JobAndVacancies:No they are not. Stop your inferiority complex. It's truly disgusting. |

anonimi:You people always look for tiny countries with 2 people like Singapore and Qatar to use and feel inferior. NIGERIA has 250 million mouths to feed. Qatar has more oil than Nigeria and under 3 million population. It's beyond senseless comparing them to Nigeria. |

Topman7:I don't need to live overseas to know the two place I mentioned is better than some estates in Lagos and Abuja. Mind you I said some estates not all. I still know of estates in Lekki that are better than some places in London. |

Topman7:It’s beyond senseless that 200 million Nigerians have failed to make our country 100 million times better than what 2 Singaporeans have done in their own country without oil. Will it be beyond senseless to expect our country to be 2/3rd as good as 300 million Americans have made their own country? |

shegzhkn:Developing countries or generally countries seeking tourists should aim at citizens of wealthier countries. Touring foreign countries is a feature of "people wey don chop food belly full". Poor people cannot be tourists. To ease their entry, offer these citizens visa free status so they don't have to spend on that aspect or better still save more to spend in the country. Nigeria or generally most African countries have longer routes from wealthier nations, thus costlier air tickets. There are many competitors within the African continent such as Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, etc. Some might ask, "but these wealthier countries make it hard for us (Nigerians) to enter their countries, why should we make it easy for them?" Well, basic economics makes it so: visa free access is offered based on economic and largely population figures. The poorer a country, the weaker its passports. Humans are naturally discriminatory. You or anyone reading this will readily accept Dangote to your home before myself because you know he's richer than me. That's how visa free access works. For that reason, Nigeria should waive visa restrictions for citizens of countries with a GDP per capita of $25K+. Citizens from these countries shouldn't have to apply for a Nigerian visa. |

Gerrard59:I already know all of these things. My question is why do ordinary Nigerians seem to LOVE the fact that the process of getting their country's visa is so gruelling? What is the thought process behind this - are they reciprocating gestures or is there another reason? Even if the average person may react emotionally, policymakers should be pragmatic and understand how the world works. |

papagiddy:^^^ But... Lagos does smell. Acknowledging this truth is the first step to solving the problem. And... Nigeria's economy is bad. The leaders and the led both agree on this. Nothing to argue about there. |

CoronaVirusPro:^^^ ![]() You know this isn't true. This very platform needs a lot of that "spirit lit love and community" you speak about - but it just isn't there. Let's not even talk about what Nigerians do to one another in the physical. Look around Nigeria itself. CoronaVirusPro:^^^ ![]() Ok. |

hotseat:^^^ Not true...because there's no such thing as the 'best' country in the world. Such terms are used to create lively debate but they have no place in a serious discussion. |

shegzhkn:It's a Nigerian mentality or would I say poverty mindset (this applies to almost citizens of most poor countries). It's also arr0gant ign0rance since many of these people are supposedly educated. You read their comments on TwitterNG, Nairaland, Instagram and Facebook. Nigerians are not that educated in the real sense o. Our people are terribly Ign0rant and h0rribly arr0gant. There's a lot to unlearn, relearn and learn for many Nigerians. Even if the average person may react emotionally, policymakers should be pragmatic and understand how the world works. As for policymakers, the average Nigerian politician is unintelligent. People who construct roads without pedestrian walkways even in their residential areas or to government offices don't come across as intelligent to me (I've seen open gutters in the road leading to the Governor's office in Awka). How do we expect the same people to understand the basic economics behind tourism? |

Kemetian:The same way you enjoy village every Christmas, doesn't make village better in terms of productivity. Humans appreciate what they rarely see, but a zoo is a zoo. |

Just tell Nigerians you like their country or the visit even if it’s a lie they will be behaving like a happy dog wagging their tail and rolling in happiness. Talk about dying for acceptance from outside |

LoneSoldier:When tourists visit the US where do they go? ... is it not to similar destinations? ... and they come up with a one sided narrative? ... that the US is such a beautiful place? Visitors from God's country have visited Nigeria and left happy and impressed .... and you are depressed about that. Some people just don't like to see others happy |
