Anyone Making Real Money Remotely From Nigeria in 2025?

I’ve been applying to remote jobs (customer service, VA, tech support) but most require crazy requirements or reject Nigerians.

Please, who here is currently working remotely and getting paid well?

How did you start, and which sites or skills actually work this year?

Let’s help each other. 🙏

You just type stuff without tangible first hand experience
You don’t even know about the hurdles online Nigerians have to go through that’s
Completely non existent with people overseas

I asked a simple question, you mean Nigerians don't get jobs on Fiverr & Upwork?

Except you don't consider freelancing as remote work then I will accept that.

Nigerians doing real remote work are in foreign lands, except those that link up their relations in naija.Remote jobs here are either from naija coys in entaintainment circles like styling graphics for musicians and social media freek, such are given to girls in particular or is a fluke to guys that get them..

Fiverr works till tomorrow. Be professional with your services and be ready to put in funds to get it working as a new seller.

Clear signs of laziness and lack of innovation. There is competition in everything and everywhere, your ability to innovate and being consistent makes the difference.

Nigerians freelancers are still cashing out both platforms till date. You can also try different subreddit, on Reddit, or buy junior VIP on Blackhat world and apply or post for jobs.

A guy is using emotional tactics to build a list and source for jobs on Reddit. Something like this "Please I'm a Nigerian being pressured to go into fraud, and I don't want to do it, I have a skill but no job, please I will do this and that for so amount, give me a trial please, being a Nigerian is not a curse" people will then reply him, asking for DM out of sympathy.

Blackmailing ppl emotionally to get gigs, you call that innovation, smh

When I knew there was a problem was when a Tennessee lady needed an interpreter for a voice note she recorded , it was clearly Yoruba,
Yet, she was looking for someone in the UK to take the gig,
You are talking about blackmail, why will you even think of blackmailing ppl to give you gigs,

My guy, I won't lie. It ain't easy. Take it from a pro writer like me who's been raking good cash since 2022. But for this year, it's been bullshit. I feel the drought has affected 80% of freelancers in Nigeria. From gig scarcity, account suspension etc.

It's bloody, my guy.
But we must survive.

Truth is, people are still making cool cash from remote work. You just have to get the right info and quickly align. I had applied for a VA role and my interview is tomorrow and as I'm speaking to you, i don't even have data for that because this one I borrowed will expire by 11 today.

You know what I've learnt?

Freelancing isn't sustainable as there are dry sessions. In your boom seasons, just be swift and quick to invest into an offline business or build more skill set so you could quickly transition when need be.

I've been writing fiction novels and novellas since 2021. Lowest I made in a month was 350k, peharps I would have been able to save if not for family responsibilities. But this year, lemme not say.

But I'll advise that you learn skills that aren't saturated. Learn skills that AI can't replace easily. Get ready to spend on gadget as you upscale.

We must survive.

If that is what you call it, what then can you say about a copy writer who can convince people to buy what they wouldn't buy ordinarily or never need? A good copy writer can even sell poo to a full grown man with the power of his/her writing skill what do you call that?
An influencer will make people perform actions they wouldn't perform on a normal day. What would you call that? There will always be excuses for failure.

I did not disappear. It is clear that he does not know what he wants, and the subject is not about learning a skill. He mentioned that he is applying for customer service, virtual assistant, and tech support roles. Asking me which skills he should learn suggests that he is not prepared, and no busy person will be willing to invest time in teaching someone a skill from the start.

It is similar to someone saying there are no jobs, then returning to ask which course they should study.

He does not understand sales are psychological and almost everything is a scam done legitimately.

and you know I don't have experience how? lol. You folks think like juveniles/Gen-Zs.

I made my first $150 on freelancer exactly 10yrs ago today and have been on various freelancing platforms ever since earning passively, every single year though I have a professional 9 to 5. What 'online hurdles' do you mean exactly? You think it is worse NOW than BEFORE think again. We've seen it all.

There has been lot of challenges dented Nigerian online reputation aside scamming, others were lack of payment support, lack of professionalism, lack of good internet service etc. These were all problems of yester years many Nigerians have taken time to overcome & win the trust of clients. Imagine your client wants to give you a job and speak with you but your internet ends up messing u up? At least fibre is gaining ground around the country now etc.. There used to be many threads even here on nairaland where u can get info about freelancing I don't know about now.

When you are ready, you go and learn in-demand skills.
