Why is it that artisans just feel they can call you (their customer) asking for financial assistance just like that?

Like they don't understand the fact that for one to be patronizing them out of hundreds or thousands of fellow artisans in the same city is enough favor. I call you for a job, pay you for whatever fee you charge and may even lose some money to you through inflated material costs they procured.

Why will you then feel I should be the one you will call when you run into financial issues? Who says I don't have my own financial responsibilities I've not finished dealing with? 🤷‍♂️

Dry cleaner will call you to borrow money to complete his shop rent, mechanic will call to borrow money to add to house rent, generator repairer will say he needs money to complete his child's school fees in a private school, etc 🤦‍♂️

actually they are unfortunately right - because unless you are ordering your originals direct from yankee or uk - what passes for original in nigeria is a 3rd grade chinese clone meant for emergency rather than heavy duty use

once you get technical knowledge in any field you will be seeing this for yourself. EG someone will sell you chinko ssd that can fail at anytime for price of brand new SSD. any purchase in naija na prayer.

JAMB explained that the exceptional admission policy aligns with global best practices, where underage cases are treated as rare exceptions rather than the norm.

In the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), a total of 2,031,133 candidates applied for admission, out of which 41,027 sought consideration under the special underage category. Of these, 599 candidates scored at least 80 percent in the UTME and were subjected to further scrutiny, including verification of their school certificates and post-UTME performance.

Following this phase, 182 candidates (178 plus 4) were shortlisted for the final stage of interviews and documentation. Upon completion of the process, 85 candidates were found to have met all required criteria and were subsequently cleared for admission.

JAMB further advised any of the 182 finalists who, for valid reasons, missed the final interview to submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the category “2025 Underage Complaint.”

The Board said such complaints would be reviewed individually and treated strictly on merit.

I feel this is an unfair system introduced by JAMB. 599 candidates scored above 80% (i.e. 320 and above) but because they are underaged they were subjected to further scrutiny only for just 85 of them to be offered admission eventually.

The system just doesn't sit down well with me. It's either JAMB prevents underage students from writing the UTME totally or allow everyone who scored high to have equal opportunity to be considered for admission.

This is Nigeria; if care is not taken JAMB may have successfully created another black market where parents with means will be buying slot for their underaged kids to be considered for admission above others in similar categories.
