Mali Shuts Universities, Schools As Jihadists Blockade Worsens Fuel Crisis by HonNL(op): 8:20pm On Oct 27, 2025
Mali has suspended schools and universities nationwide due to a severe fuel scarcity caused by a blockade on fuel imports imposed by Islamist insurgents.

Education Minister Amadou Sy Savane announced on state television that all education institutions would remain shut until 9 November, saying the movement of staff and students had been affected by the blockade.

He said the authorities were "doing everything possible" to end the crisis so that classes could resume on 10 November.

For weeks, Mali has been hit by a fuel shortage, especially in the capital Bamako, after militants from an al-Qaeda affiliate imposed a blockade by attacking tankers on major highways.

Mali is landlocked, so all fuel supplies are brought in by road from neighbouring states such as Senegal and Ivory Coast.

Long queues have been snaking around petrol stations in Bamako in recent weeks, and the city's usually crowded streets have now reportedly fallen quiet.

The military government had earlier this month assured residents that it was only a temporary issue, but the crisis has persisted.

Last week, the US Embassy in Bamako announced that non-essential diplomatic staff and their families would leave Mali amid the worsening fuel shortage and growing security concerns.

It said the fuel disruptions had affected the supply of electricity and had the "potential to disrupt the overall security situation in unpredictable ways".

Mali is currently ruled by a military junta led by Gen Assimi Goïta, who seized power in a coup in 2021.

The junta had popular support when it took power, promising to deal with the long-running security crisis prompted by a separatist rebellion in the north by ethnic Tuaregs, which was then hijacked by Islamist militants.

The UN peacekeeping mission and French forces had been deployed in 2013 to deal with the escalating insurgency.

Both have left since the junta took over, and the military government has hired Russian mercenaries to tackle the insecurity.

However, the jihadist insurgency has continued and large parts of the north and east of the country remain outside government control.

YET some clueless Nigerian were touting a Military Coup as the PANACEA to all our security problems.

The only difference under a Military Rule in Nigeria would be the SUFFERING of innocent civilians.

Right now, the suffering of most Nigerians is ECONOMICAL.
Under Military Rule, the suffering would be both ECONOMICAL and PHYSICAL.

Unchecked small boys with guns will wield their KOBOKO with vigour.
Frog jumps and even shooting will be everywhere.

Military Dictatorship is NEVER an option.

We all know the reason France is hating on Israel… and supporting Hamas and other terrorist goups

It’s no coincidence that the same France is hating on west African countries seeking independence and how’s the coincidence that jihadist and terrorists groups are fighting west African countries

Muslims are the common denominator here.
Everywhere you see Islam, you must see terrorism, if not today, give it 20 years maximum.

That religion is a cancer

France using their middle Eastern underbosses (Islam) to attack Africa once again, especially after Mali and Burkina decided that they didn't want more mosques but more educational institutions and hospitals.

What new here? Its always been that way. The west and east had an agreement during the Ottoman empire conquest of Europe and the reconquesta that followed, Africa was used as compensation for the Ottomans after Europe conquered and forced them out and till this day both sides have suppressed any attempt to bring economic independence to the continent.

That's why I laugh when I see people kpaing themselves for all this Gaza matter, if you really know how much these Arabs (both the ones in the Levant and the desert arabs) despise and hate Africans, you go just go house relax, forget all this nonsense wey una carry for head.

The Mali government should just create ajanati fidaos for them with 70 or more virgins! This religion of peace creates conflict within the consciousness of its followers, what a pity!

Here we go again, for goodness sake religion is not by force it's by conviction. The whole country is at standstill because of a religion terrorists. It's only Jesus that have peace and can give humanities true peace, because He's a prince of peace. Where He is given chance peace and love always prevail there.

shox:
Religion of peace doing their peaceful demonstrations as usual .

A time is coming when and where Islam as a religion will be abolished
I once told a friend the same thing. Islamic jihadists thinks they are promoting islamic religion but they are doing the opposite. Soon, countries will start an outright ban of Islam and the successful Islamic countries will gradually change their religion culture until it’s no more. 50 to 100 years top. As for other religions, people will neglect them. A reset is coming.
Re: Mali Shuts Universities, Schools As Jihadists Blockade Worsens Fuel Crisis by ARISHEM:
As at last month it was reported that the Jihadist destroyed at least 40 fuel tankers in one day just to block fuel imports into the country.
Now It has come to the point where jihadists are the ones deciding fuel decisions in Mali.

Only a military government will think shutting down schools, universities, learning centers and crucial infrastructures are best ways of tackling issues like this and not confronting the situation decisively with force

Some very dumb individuals on this thread are blaming military rule as the cause. But we all know what their colonial masters can do by all means. Funding jihadists to destabilize countries seeking independence is what they do. Mali should take their time to decimate all those terrorists and return to normalcy.

Until people in public offices get things according to merit, this democracy practiced in Africa, is it even any different from military rule?

It's a make-like. No true freedom of anything. Plus the civilians in power will simply bribe and try to control the military from revolting. Just like the recent reset of positions our oga at Aso Villa just performed.

Mirasteel:
And you think those zionists that you are supporting don't hate blacks too?
Bro they are all the same but at least those ones make it clear that they despise you (Goyim) and haven't launched a religious assault on the continent the way the Arabs have for a millenia. I'm not one of those people who thinks my oyibo oga is better than your Arab oga and vice versa (I don't believe in a holy land or any divine hierachy, I do however consider myself a God fearing person) I'm all for religious tolerance and freedom and any theological belief system that supports that tolerance and freedom is one that I would agree with.

I totally get where you are coming from but the mistake I see most times is that people are quick to draw parallels without evaluating historical patterns, many of which are evidently still present in our modern day interactions with those who brought these religious practices to our continent, you simply have to look up the horror stories of Kenyan, Ethiopia and Somali maids in Saudi, Oman, UAE and Lebanon or the recent evacuations in Beirut and how the Lebanese were evacuating their citizens due to the Israeli strikes but refused to evacuate the African workers and even refused to return their passports, leaving them there as canon fodder/ collateral damage.

A lebanese girl even told me she would not be returning there from Europe as the African maid she grew up with (who she's managed to keep contact with) began opening up recently about her horror experiences and how she was denied access to using public facilities, the lebanese people threw a fit when she tried to use public spaces even in grocery stores and this happened in the 2010s!!!!

I no want even talk about Libya and Tunisia ( I made a post about that a while ago), that one na long topic
