If you bring another family name into your ancestral land, don't you think it will lead to crisis in the future?

Where a stranger begins to drag property with the sons simply because they were married to their sister
This is another problem, imagine outsider telling you he have right in another family property because he marry their daughter

Define ancestral land in the context of living in a city. I mean in the context of 2 to 3 generations that have lived in a city.
As funny as it sounds, those who are descendants from the cities, do not even make up to 1% of this conversation

Those who are from cities, most likely have sold off their lands decades ago, shared the money (whether male or female), and moved on.

Your conversation is about passing that land, of which less than 1% of the city descendants have any land to pass.

Probability, my foot

Children, taking care of their parents in old age has a lot to do with a closely bonded relationship they had and have formed as they grew up and lived with them.

If person like, make e born girls well well, come wait for Probability

Women have more time on their hands. Men that are working daily expect on Sundays won't have that time to visit regularly which is normal. Just like you in America cannot be visiting your parents regularly like your sisters or brothers in Nigeria that doesn't mean they care more about them than you.
Women generally have more empathy and care. Like if you notice careers related to care like nursing, daycare have more women. If you have a sister that cares vs if you have a brother that cares you will see the difference

It happens.

E fit even divorce your daughter and walk away with part of the property
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Kimbeast: 4:22pm On Oct 28, 2025
I would say most old parents prefer their daughters or wives of their son to visit more often as they help out more in doing chores (cooking, cleaning, sweeping and washing).

I think this is because men view those jobs as below them. It's only in desperate cases they take those jobs.

Quote the Nigerian law that allows a man walk away with his wife's inheritance following a divorce.

Gifts and inheritances which you acquired before marriage cannot just be handed to your spouse in a divorce proceedings.

In this world now, when most of the boys are in another country. You are talking about a property in Imo and your sons 3 of them are in Canada, Japan and USA. What is the point of the ancestral land to them

When your kids grow, you will realize that the daughters even when married care for their parents more than the boys. I have a friend with twins in their 20s, the boy every school break will follow his friends all over or go stay with one GF, na the daughter dey come home to check on the parents, Some times he will say the boy has not called him for weeks. Females generally have a softer heart towards parents than boys

Imagine the by wey no really send you when he is grown will now come and claim say he be boy to claim all the properties
I agree with this. Girls care more.

If the man uses his wife's inheritance to buy property in his own name - what happens?

Her inheritance is her inheritance and once she shows proof it was hers the man will walk out with nothing out of it.

You think a woman who is on the verge of divorce will be doing sme-sme by not showing evidence of her inheritance to the court?

You want your name to remain in the title deeds. You want your family to maintain presence in their ancestral home even if it's a city.

So when you say you're from Prot Harcourt for example, you have your family home there and not somewhere in the village

It's not about me/you, it's the ancestry. The male line is the true line. They will bear the family name. To do so, they need to have a place called home, enough to last for generations.

I am just arguing by the way.

In this case, it's better to sell the land and share the proceeds among the children. They can now buy properties for themselves.

That's what happened to people from Owerri, Aba, Onitsha cities. Most of them live in the outskirts now. While 'strangers' have taken over their lands. I don't blame the strangers but it's this inheritance crisis that lead to losing ancestral heritage.

So you have someone who is from Abeokuta for example but have no home in Abeokuta.

This is a worrisome line of thought.

It simply means you are saying only a male child is really worth to be called a child in the real sense of the word. Irrespective of whatever grammar you use to cover it, that is exactlg what it means.

Personally, I don't agree with that line of thought

Nobody says you shouldn't have a family home. All I'm saying is whatever benefits the male child can get from your ownership of the property, your female children should enjoy same except they decide they don't want to.

I've already said I won't pass any further comments on the new tace reform laws. Let's all wait till maybe end of first quarter next year when the effects of the law would've kicked.

Let's wait and see if what is written om paper and preached becomes the reality or if the people would groan under the effects of the law.
This is exactly my "difference" with larride the other day

He brought a well constructed formula on how it was being calculated but forgot in a hurry we are living in naija where A is actually B in disguise

I just kept mute maybe because he his much better than my limited view on taxation.

Moreover it was becoming too emotional and might lead to a bitter banter....

2026 will expose the true nature of the forthcoming taxation.

The people that bought properties along Lekki-Epe expressway because of " It is close to Dangote Refinery " are about to see shege that comes with the closeness of their property to Dangote Refinery.

Traffic go begin choke for that axis now

The male child advances the lineage, it's the male child that has the seed. It's not about agreeing with it or not. It's just facts, your worry nonetheless. This shouldn't be controversial. If I bring religion into it, it's Biblical too.

Popizaino congratulations o Quatarra for his 4th term win

In Cameoun, Biya 8th term confirmed

In Mali military has been granted Assimi Goita a five-year presidential mandate, renewable “as many times as necessary” and without requiring an election.

It seems in Africa the norm is for leaders to be in office for life than to leave office

One leader was said to have been quoted "It will never be said of me that is the former president going, rather it will be that is the grave of the former president"
