Good evening, everyone. Please, I have a question regarding change of name. I applied for family reunion using my maiden surname, which is the name on the passport I used for the application. However, I have now changed my surname to my husband’s name.

Do you think it’s advisable to obtain a new international passport bearing my current (married) name, even though my present passport is still valid for another 20 months? Also, can the visa be issued in my new name if I submit the new passport?

if u change your name to husband name, u have to make a new passport and both passport to the appointment to avoid wasting of time after the appointment cos they will still ask you to do new passport.

Appointment is faster for this last 2 months oh, we love it, maybe. there are not a lot of people that applied...

But we sha love it.

Hello, all

I had my interview yesterday, this is the document checklist they currently operate with. You must arrange your documents in this order from the gate

No need to take photocopies of no. 1, 2 & 3. The man at the gate (not Paulinus) said they no longer ask for that
From no. 9 is where he started asking for photocopy + original

Also attached is an important notice for those who have their interviews soon

Yeah, I applied June 30th 2023, got appointment Aug 2025....
Got my visa today after much stress of bringing this and that document....

Pls take note oh. When asked to bring insurance, it is d number of months ur insurance is valid that u will be given visa.
For eg... U submit 3 months insurance u get 3 months family reunion visa, same for 6 months.
And if per adventure u submitted 3 months insurance, don't panic. So long as u are given family reunion visa u are okay. Just make sure u go apply for ur residence permit when u get into germany cos it takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks to get an appointment. So u still can extend ur visa validity no stress.
