Thank you. I was later able to get a closer date in November. Now, I want to ensure I take the right documents to the interview. I got a Graduate Assistantship that cover my tuition and living expenses through my program. Pls, what are the documents I will need? I've been doing my research and even preparation, but every other person input will go a long way too. Pls share with me more tips to better prepare myself for the interview. I appreciate everyone's contribution. Efetobore1980: |

Hello Everyone, I am preparing for my F1 Visa interview for my master's program in the US. I was offered a graduate assistantship that covers tuition and living expenses (fully funded). Please, I need all your input to better prepare for this interview. I've been preparing on my own, watching videos and reading materials online, but I believe your input will go a long way as well. What are some tips and ideas on how I can do well and get it right from your experience? Also, documents that I will need for the interview too. Thank you. |

reigningme:I was on placed on 221g at my interview for H4 on October 14th. I got back home and saw that it was already approved in a matter of a couple hours. Mine was in Lagos though. I know someone who had an H-1b interview in Abuja and was placed on 221g, her visa was approved in less than a week after. The timeline is largely dependent on what they are trying to verify and if they asked for more documents. However, if it goes past 2 months, you can send them an enquiry. |

Christ002:Asides reading this thread extensively and doing specific research tyourself then you pay for those services (check my signature) to be done for you. For funding, note you should start your work from about 18months before you intend to start your course. Its an hands on process but it can yield results Find the schools that have your course Confirm they have funding you desire Complete all eligibility requirements for admission and funding. Get admission, pay sevis fee, book visa appointment. Hope for the best at the appointment. Note having funding doesnt guarantee a visa, fortunately you can always reapply for visa if you are refused. |

This person had her interview in Abuja on the with children and their passport were returned to them but after few days only the mother was asker to submit passport because the AP is nearing completion. Nothing has been heard since then. The principal applicant h1 is change of status in US which started this october. The h1b was approved this fiscal year. Please I have sent you a message |

reigningme:The principal is H1B consular. shes a nurse and the hiring hospital has what you call "cap exempt" which means they are not tied to the yearly lottery limits and balloting that happens on april of every financial year and can hire at any time of the year without limit For the children, was a seperate application done for them? If the H4 of the spouse was approved, the children also should. Also have you checked the visa status on the state department portal? it changes from approved to issued once completed. if it still says "approved" then some verification is still ongoing at state dept level even if its approved at consular level. you could also check the status on OIS services website. if the passport is ready for collection, it will be indicated once you type in the passport number. i responded to your email. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by reigningme: 2:45am On Nov 08, 2025 |
snoopy:Thanks for your response. The visa application for the spouse and children were done at the same time and they attended the interview the same day. Their passport were returned but collected the I797 and all their birth certificates. No further document required according to the VO and it was also indicated on the white paper(221g). Then after 2 days only spouse was asked to submit passport. No response yet on approval. An updates was noticed a day on the visa status websites after passport got to the OIS services but since then it still shows refused. |

Pls house, I’m new to this visa process. I’ve been offered a provisional admission and my school requested a down payment of $4,905 before issuing the Form I-20, which I’ve already paid via Flywire. However, they also asked for a Proof of Funds (POF) of $40,000 to cover me and my dependant. Please, when is the best time to run the POF; before or after the I-20 is issued? I’ve not started the visa application process yet. Pls Note: I can only afford one month pof |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Fallenangel0011: 9:56am On Nov 08, 2025 |
Efetobore1980:The institution I’m processing is an accredited international university with campuses in four different countries. I was offered a 25% scholarship and paid the mandatory deposit of $4,905 to secure my admission and my scholarship slot. The deposit is fully refundable, but I chose not to withdraw it after confirming that requesting a refund would automatically cancel my scholarship. I also have a friend currently studying at the university’s France campus, which further confirms the school’s authenticity. |
