Alright. The situation looks hopeful, perhaps your passport should contain another 221g Instructional slip. The last email you got pointed towards that direction. 👍
Hi boss, what’s the type situation that will make me have a tie to another country? Such that I can apply for visa from that country? Assuming I am based in naija?

Hello everyone, please I need some advice.

I completed my masters in US and started a funded PhD program ( I am with my child). My husband is in the UK as a student and plans to go for F2 interview. However,my visa expires after the masters but I have a valid i20 for my phd program. I am worried about this situation if it wouldn't affect his interview. I will appreciate your comments. Thank you
I am not sure there is any problem with your situation since you are in status. Hopefully, he should get it.

Thank you. I was later able to get a closer date in November.

Now, I want to ensure I take the right documents to the interview. I got a Graduate Assistantship that cover my tuition and living expenses through my program. Pls, what are the documents I will need? I've been doing my research and even preparation, but every other person input will go a long way too.

Pls share with me more tips to better prepare myself for the interview. I appreciate everyone's contribution.

Efetobore1980:

Pick the January in Abuja. You still have 3/4 times to reschedule and before the end of the year you will certainly secure November/December. If you hesitate the opportunity will disappear. 👍

Hello Everyone,

I am preparing for my F1 Visa interview for my master's program in the US. I was offered a graduate assistantship that covers tuition and living expenses (fully funded).

Please, I need all your input to better prepare for this interview. I've been preparing on my own, watching videos and reading materials online, but I believe your input will go a long way as well.

What are some tips and ideas on how I can do well and get it right from your experience?

Also, documents that I will need for the interview too.

Thank you.

Just to let you know that fully funded (scholarships) is not an automatic key to an F1-visa success because it is now on record that some applicants are using counterfeit credentials to acquire related feats, not only from Nigeria, but from all over the world.

That said, international prospective F1-Visa applicants have been focusing on utilising good CGPA and better fundings to aquire F1-visa, while the United States embassies are Psychologically drifting away from that benchmark as it is now becoming a piece of cake.

●▪︎ Nevertheless, any videos or materials you are studying should be based on two (2) realities, while the document aspect depends on your visa application:

Genuine Intention & Proof of Ties.

Please any update from anyone that had experienced administrative processing from Abuja embassy. I know someone who is currently on administrative processing regarding h4. What is the average time line for anyone who has experienced that for any categories

Good evening house , please I'm new here and I'm really interested and ready to kickstart my travel dream .
Please can anyone guard me on the steps to follow.
Thank you

Likely your appointment was cancelled and you're given another window to reschedule to the next available date.

Check your email for the cancellation email.

Otherwise, you can contact the embassy hotline or send them an email.

Okay. He can proceed with creating his account.

Yes, he should defer and then choose an appointment date that is before the resumption of Spring semester.

If he has the means to fund himself and can show the finance is there, there should be no issue. He'd only need to attend his interview and ace it.

Alternatively, if he would like funding, he can apply to schools that offer funding opportunities.
Hello Good evening sir .
I'm new here and I'm really interested in applying for a masters Programme in architectural engineering with zero experience how it's down. Please can someone help me out with a total breakdown how I'm going to go about finding the right schools that will fund my studies.

Thank you

I was on placed on 221g at my interview for H4 on October 14th. I got back home and saw that it was already approved in a matter of a couple hours. Mine was in Lagos though. I know someone who had an H-1b interview in Abuja and was placed on 221g, her visa was approved in less than a week after.

The timeline is largely dependent on what they are trying to verify and if they asked for more documents. However, if it goes past 2 months, you can send them an enquiry.

Asides reading this thread extensively and doing specific research tyourself then you pay for those services (check my signature) to be done for you.

For funding, note you should start your work from about 18months before you intend to start your course.

Its an hands on process but it can yield results
Find the schools that have your course
Confirm they have funding you desire
Complete all eligibility requirements for admission and funding.
Get admission, pay sevis fee, book visa appointment.
Hope for the best at the appointment.
Note having funding doesnt guarantee a visa, fortunately you can always reapply for visa if you are refused.

The principal is H1B consular. shes a nurse and the hiring hospital has what you call "cap exempt" which means they are not tied to the yearly lottery limits and balloting that happens on april of every financial year and can hire at any time of the year without limit

For the children, was a seperate application done for them? If the H4 of the spouse was approved, the children also should. Also have you checked the visa status on the state department portal? it changes from approved to issued once completed. if it still says "approved" then some verification is still ongoing at state dept level even if its approved at consular level. you could also check the status on OIS services website. if the passport is ready for collection, it will be indicated once you type in the passport number.

i responded to your email.

Thanks for your response. The visa application for the spouse and children were done at the same time and they attended the interview the same day. Their passport were returned but collected the I797 and all their birth certificates. No further document required according to the VO and it was also indicated on the white paper(221g). Then after 2 days only spouse was asked to submit passport. No response yet on approval. An updates was noticed a day on the visa status websites after passport got to the OIS services but since then it still shows refused.

Pls house, I’m new to this visa process.
I’ve been offered a provisional admission and my school requested a down payment of $4,905 before issuing the Form I-20, which I’ve already paid via Flywire.
However, they also asked for a Proof of Funds (POF) of $40,000 to cover me and my dependant.
Please, when is the best time to run the POF; before or after the I-20 is issued?
I’ve not started the visa application process yet.
Pls Note: I can only afford one month pof cry
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Fallenangel0011: 9:56am On Nov 08, 2025
Efetobore1980:

Go and request for the refund of your $4,905 and look for another school. Unfortunately you will lose some percentage of the down payment (perhaps the $905) but count it worth doing as " no matter how far you have gone on a wrong way , turn back now "

USA embassy/consular officer issuing your f1-visa with a provisional (conditional) admission offer is 25% chances over 100.

Besides, 70% of US institutions (not official but based on personal experiences) does not ask for down payment (except few who asked for spot deposit from $250 to $500) so the payment you made is very likely going to be counterproductive and term as a trick to convince the consular. If you had paid the whole school fees then you could have given the consular the benefit of doubt. Nonetheless. your provisional offer is a brick-wall.

Dont accept provisional (conditional) admission (Form-I20) except if your case is exclusively different.
The institution I’m processing is an accredited international university with campuses in four different countries. I was offered a 25% scholarship and paid the mandatory deposit of $4,905 to secure my admission and my scholarship slot. The deposit is fully refundable, but I chose not to withdraw it after confirming that requesting a refund would automatically cancel my scholarship. I also have a friend currently studying at the university’s France campus, which further confirms the school’s authenticity.
