Good day good people of nairaland, I recently bought a fairly used oppo phone. And less than a week of my using the phone my WhatsApp account was banned with no remedy of restoring it. I tried opening the business WhatsApp it still refuses to work on the phone.
I later introduced my second sim card to the phone and Whatsapp business was successfully installed and started working. but less than a week the account was disabled or banned.
Right now I can't use WhatsApp or Whatsapp business on the phone and the message I got is that I can't use WhatsApp on the device.

Please what could be the issue

Poor security on the device. What is the reason Whatsapp gives? Buy a brand new device next time.

Maybe the device was stolen and the IMEI number has been blacklisted

It may be the phone that has issue, may be you should try to get new phone

Maybe boys dey use the phone work before them pass it on to you. Or the phone model is banned from using WhatsApp in the country of its origin

It has nothing to do with your used phone

ITS NOT WHATSAPP, ONCE YOU ARE BUYING SOME OF THE CHINESE OEM PHONE MADE FOR CHINA SPECIFICALLY, YOU WILL GET ISSUES LIKE THIS. THE IMEI OF THAT PHONE IS A CHINESE IMEI, THATS WHY THE ACCOUNT IS BEING BANNED, I BOUGHT A CHEAP OPPO A77 5G, COOL PHONE BUT I CANT USE TIKTOK ON IT., I HAVE TO SETTLE FOR TIKTOK LITE. NEXT TIME WHEN BUYING CHEAP CHINESE OEM DEVICES, MAKE SURE THEY ARE FOR WORLDWIDE AND NOT CHINA MADE FOR ONLY.

THE BEST BET IS TO FACTORY RESET THAT PHONE OR RESET THE PHONE IMEI, WHICH IS VERY TECHNICAL WITH LATEST ANDROIDS. bACK IN THE DAYS, WE WILL JUST EDIT THE IMEI WITH MTK ENGINEERING TOL, BUT NOW IMPOSSIBLE WITH LATEST ANDROID.

I discovered it was a rooted phone and the boot loader was unlocked.

Unfortunately, no phone technician is willing to touch it because the process of relocking the boot loader, if not done properly, could brick the device.

All other apps work perfectly on the phone, but WhatsApp in particular doesn't work. The phone numbers I used were barred for a while because of this.

The device has been used extensively and the IMEI has been blacklisted.

Either the phone doesn't allow whatsapp or the IP address has been blacklisted due to what the previous user did.

I had the same experience with my Vivo Y17. Both my WhatsApp and Telegram accounts were banned because the operating system was compromised. You’ll need to reload the OS — I noticed that whenever I went online, someone else was using my accounts to send spam messages.

NOTE: formatting will your phone will not fix it.

Most of those chinko oppo phones ,WhatsApp has restricted access to them recently, not only oppo even gionee and some other older brands too

ITS NOT ABOUT VIVO OR OPPO, ITS THE CHINESE VERSION OF THE PHONES THAT HAVE SUCH ISSUES...EVEN SAMSUNG USUALLY HAVE THIS ISSUE, ONCE THAT PHONE IS MADE FOR THE CHINESE MARKET ONLY, YOU MIGHT FACE SUCH ISSUE 70% OF THE TIME...ITS AN IMEI AND I.P ISSUE..BEFORE BUYING JUST MAKE SURE THE PHONE IS NOT ROOTED

i had the same experience with vivo y15. my whatsapp and telegram accounts was banned. the operating system have been compromised. you need to reload the operating.

With the possibility of bricking the device.

no sir , those phones where listed some years back, that they wouldn’t have access to WhatsApp ,some chinkos phones like vivo, gionee and oppo…

Whatsapp ban is temporary. after 7 hours, it will be active.
