press9jatv:Lol I drank garri in my teen years no doubt. It didn't follow me in adulthood. Hence, I don't drink garri. Good for you actually. It's been years I drank coke and fanta too. I dislike them so much, maybe cos I drank too much as a child. |

folake4u:it's because you trained yourself not to drink garri again. Still no believe you shaaa. You are not drinking coke and Fanta too. I guess you have ailments in the body that's been caused by garri and energy drinks. |

press9jatv:It's not cos of any training, there are food/things that people outgrow. That's your problem actually. I don't have ailments in my body as a result of the above. Goodbye. PS: I don't know why you decided to follow me. To monitor me now or what? |

folake4u:folake don't be annoyed, I'm just surprised in the way you sound, stating you don't drink garri again. Well I still love garri as much as I can. One of the best food for me. I don't want to go to coke and Fanta here. You are packaging yourself here. I understand better. You are a lagosian now. Packaging here and there. |

press9jatv:So what's the big deal in not drinking garri? I don't eat/like pizza too. How about that? I'm not packaging myself but if you think that way, that's fine. |

folake4u:I don't even like pizza 🍕 too. Maybe it contains much sugar and it's not well cooked in Nigeria. I don't want to have diabetes ontop eating pizza 🍕. Folake I have read your post often for more than 30 minutes. You are still packaging yourself. Maybe because I read people shaaaa. You don't addicts to pizza 🍕 that's why you don't love to eat it. For this Lagos, na packaging here and there. Garri still gives strength than any other foods. |

press9jatv:I'm a lady and I grow up not drinking garri. It's like a taboo to give hungry children soaking garri in my area. The wife who does that will answer to those above her. Make eba and organise quick soup. Anytime I drank garri( not up to 6 times i guess), i did it based on pressure. Maybe friend is drinking and i will join. But for me to organise it, it doesnt cross my mind. I will rather make swallow. My kids don't know what soaking garri is. I will not encourage them to try it. My mum never drank garri. She hate it with passion. My siblings are worst. I drank it first outside home, so yes, not everybody like it. Left naija and bought ijebu garri cos I miss home, I drank it once. Even the eba, I no dey eat again for more than one yr. My kids eat eba. Since I got married yrs ago, I have never seen my husband touch garri and indomie. He will rather stay hungry than eat those two. |

press9jatv:Which adults get soaking garri as back up. Na hunger dey make people drink garri. Very unhealthy food. The only good thing is in soaking garri is groundnut or coconut used. The rest na diabetes overload. |

descarado:this is the first time am reading it. My mum didn't love to drink garri, but anytime she sees my siblings drinking garri, she will love to drink too. She preferred to drink garri with groundnut |

press9jatv:What we call rich people are just middle class. No rich man will drink garri in Nigeria. Presentation matters a lot to the rich. It comes first before what enters the stomach. The reason a rich man will dine in a 5 star hotel and pay thousands for a very simple meal. Rich people have professional cooks. So, no, a rich man will never drink garri. That is a low low for him. Their business partners might show up anytime. Even the security man is not to be seen soaking garri if he need to. Soaking garri is synonymous with hardship and poverty. Add poverty mentality. Its not even healthy. Why will i drink that when I can use it to make healthy meal? Quick soup and everybody will enjoy it. Unless you are too poor to have soup condiments at home too. These things are always stored at home. Dry fish Dry stockfish Dry meat Crayfish. Veggie from the farm or kiosk nearby Red oil is a must at home Ogbonno, egwusi, cocoyam etc are always available. Dawadawa or ogiri is there Before you finish typing, quick soup is done. Kids will eat and be happy. Always buy and stock these. They help a lot when there is no money. |

folake4u:It's hard for some people to hear others don't enjoy a staple food. I for one hate amala although I am Yoruba. I still feel majority of Yorubas pretend to love it. I also hate ewedu and omi obe. Just fry the stew. 😒😒 |
| Re: Lady Shares The Meals She Made As A Broke Nigerian Student by folake4u: 10:29pm On Oct 29, 2025 |
Karleb:I think you're right at this point 'cause why's it so difficult for him to understand that. Lol you're not the only Yoruba guy I know that hates amala. I also have friends that hate it so much, I totally get them too. PS: I don't like amala too. @ the bolded. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 |
