I have a neighbour whose 4 year old son usually call me "brother", sometimes I will even play ball with him, or teach him how to ride Bicycle. Later, I observed he became withdrawn. His name is Iremide. So, we all call him, Ire.

One day, I noticed that immediately I parked my car and was stepping down, the young champ was running towards me, and the mother screamed his name to come back to her. I actually thought it was because she didn't want him to run into an oncoming car. When she realized I was puzzled, she quickly told him to go inside and eat his food. When he mentioned he was not hungry, then she told him to shaa go inside and do his assignment. As a sharp guy, I took my cue from that, but needed to find out why.

Another day, he was outside when I was just returning from my Saturdays early morning workouts, and I jokingly asked him if he will like us to play ball, his response shocked me.

"No, I will not play with you. My Mummy says you are an Omo-Ibo". In that instance, the mother came out and heard him say it. She didn't know what to say. I just shook my head. I mean I know I could lecture her on the dangers of teaching children ethnic profiling, but how many Yorubas will I go around to teach that? Beyond all the fake smiles from Yoruba friends and neighbours, I have come to know that the hatred and resentment will probably last forever, and I have come to make peace with that Fact.

Everybody will be OK las las.

I don't know when we have deteriorated to this level as a nation that simple banters we used to laugh to are now see as national issues. I remember when we used to yab ourselves with the tribe you come from and everyone will just laugh at you even your family members if you can't do a comeback but now everything is taken as tribal war. May God help us as a nation.
Let those that want to be used by politicians continue to be used. I didn't even know about this Bokku issue until I came online because offline, they are still running their business without interruption. I will continue to patronise Bokku for groceries, Ndubuisi for my foodstuff and palmoil, and the nameless Yoruba woman selling vegetables in my neighbourhood for my tomatoes and pepper. Sanni is my go to abokina for small groceries and cucumber.

Nobody can use my head for anything. If I stop patronizing a seller, I will stop based on the quality of their services and not their ethnic group. Social media has become a tool of divisive rhetoric and I choose not be influenced.

Prejudice is learned because by default all human beings see no race or ethnicity.

It comes from a place of humor mostly not just hate,

Nigeria exists for the looting of Oil and Gas in Eastern Nigeria.
Oil and Gas are in the south south zone, not in the south east. We’ll continue to emphatically correct LIES and MISINFORMATION. The South East is the poorest area of Nigeria despite all the shoulder carrying posture. Rich people don’t leave their homeland in large numbers to seek refuge elsewhere.

Rising sun? Abi rejected land……comfortable living as IDP everywhere. Sooner or later the SW will wake up fully because you are taking too much of our space. It won’t be nice.

Yet na them get lower purchasing power compared to Igbos. They'll enter market and get different price range for a particular item and go for the cheapest one, later they'll be shouting fake up and down. It's hard to boycott purchasing in naija without involving the Igbo
Self deception dey inside your blood. Ok take that purchasing power to the SE! Na beg we dey beg una sef and your SE needs it 😒

I'm not surprised of this, Bokku is owned by obasa who is the current speaker of lagos state house of assembly. When I lived in the streets of Lagos, I applied for job there as a graduate I am but my application wasn't considered because am igbo! Ask any lagosian, their Bokku bread would make you purge after eating it, forget the weight rubbish! Too much preservatives in that bread. Boycott Bokku !
Always crying and complaining.

because the hatred wasn't like this when Buhari was in Aso Rock
Your presence and numbers will inevitably bring open confrontation. It’s better you direct your energies towards developing Alaigbo.

Both the lady, the producer, director, and person that signed off on this must be eitjer very triballustic very tone deaf to air such an advert.

Now from trying to market thier brand, theye ended up demarketing it.
Who told you they de marketed Bokku? The numbers will be going up astronomically. The SW is waking up, and perhaps you’ve overstayed your welcome.
