Prophet Aliyu Barnabas, who earlier predicted that OPAY would crash before the end of 2025, has publicly apologised to Nigerians and the company.

In a viral video, he stated that he meant no harm and only shared what he believed God told him, before withdrawing the prophecy and asking for forgiveness.

His apology, where he said “let love leads,” triggered mixed reactions online.

A Nigerian prophet, Aliyu Barnabas, who earlier prophesied that online banking company OPAY would crash between October and December 2025, has publicly apologised to Nigerians and the company.

The prophecy had gone viral, sparking outrage on social media. Many users demanded legal action, while others urged him to apologise for spreading fear about a functioning financial institution.

In a new video, Prophet Barnabas pleaded for forgiveness, saying he never intended to harm anyone’s business.

“As una no, I did prophecy concerning OPAY, I no get intention to spoil any person business. I’m sorry if that prophecy I prophesy spoil any person business. I no just purpose to prophecy, na wetin God send me to do. I’m sorry, that prophecy is withdrawn in Jesus name.”

He ended his message by saying, “Let love leads.”

However, his apology stirred mixed reactions online.

King wrote: “Predicted or prophesied? Had it been it actually happened he would have been termed the anointed one from God. That’s how they go about deceiving people in the name of prophecies.”

Even if the prophecy was correct, it was very unwise of him to blow it on a trumpet. However, I cannot dispute his claims. In Nigeria, anything can happen.

Meanwhile, to be frank, Opay has a seamless banking operating system. Only a mad person will wish them ill.

This is why we need to be very careful a d ensure we hear well from God before going to announce prophecies. If it does not work the Prophet will look as if he is a scammer.
