Coleman Wires Launches Africa's Largest Fibre Optic Factory In Nigeria by AnonPoet(op): 4:27am On Oct 31, 2025
A New Nigeria is Emerging, and It Must Be Protected.

Nigeria is firmly on a path to shared prosperity, and every once in a while, a moment comes that reaffirms our collective progress. Yesterday in Sagamu,Ogun State we witnessed one of those moments during the formal launch of the largest fibre optic cable factory in Africa by @colemancablesNG, who were also celebrating 50 years of remarkable excellence in cable manufacturing.

You can only imagine my excitement at the launch of this new and impressive facility, considering our ongoing effort to deploy 90,000 kilometres of fibre optic network across Nigeria through Project BRIDGE. The establishment of a factory capable of manufacturing this critical component right here at home by a local company is a truly significant milestone and the timing could not be more perfect.

This factory will not only support the fibre needs of Project BRIDGE, but also serve as a continental hub, supplying similar infrastructure projects across Africa in the years to come.

My heartfelt congratulations to the Chairman, the CEO, and the entire management and staff of Coleman Cables for their vision and commitment to Nigeria’s industrial growth.

I also wish to specially recognise His Excellency, Prince @DapoAbiodunCON, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, for making the state one of the most attractive destinations for investors and industries in Nigeria.

And to His Excellency, President @officialABAT GCFR, I express deep appreciation for his visionary leadership, setting Nigeria the ambitious target of becoming a $1 trillion economy and backing it up with bold, deliberate reforms.

A new Nigeria is indeed emerging that is being built by those who believe in her potential, invest in her people, and produce proudly within her borders

God has blessed Ogun state with so many investors and the proximity to Lagos is a very crucial advantage.

I just hope the state governor and FG can invest enough in road construction to drive in more investment cos the regular Abeokuta and Ijebu politics isn't helping the state develop.

Most investors going to Ogun state prefer outskirts like Agbara, Ota, Igbesa etc, those are the places they need to pump more money in order to drive in more investments and get more taxes.

The Onafowokan family of Ogun State founded Coleman Cables and Wires [the BIGGEST cable manufacturer in West Africa] and now the first to manufacture fiber optic cables for super high-speed Internet access. That's what it is.

Nigeria happened to the company and they have expanded , stop with this evil negativity. This is a 50 year old company.

I bet you won't progress as you should if you live in Nigeria and keep deep resentment against the country.

Do we really regard North Africa as Africans?
If it's so, I don't think Nigerians would be insulting ancient Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia with all the these their captions of "First in Africa"

The Largest Museum in the world is about to be commissioned in Egypt. Power supply in Egypt is 40,000 megawatts. So, are we saying a country with such a generation does not have Fibre optic factories?

Nigerians can say "first in the subsaharan"

That company is making huge profit and enormous sales. Customers troops into their Arepo warehouse everyday buying millions of naira worth of cable. I personally bought about 5m cable from there, and I witnessed management handing new car keys to their employees.

The way Nigeria happened to these NNPC refineries that have been producing fuel since 2015 but no impact huh

Princecalm:
Jul 29, 2015

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has announced that the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have been successfully re-streamed after a nine-month rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.

The corporation, in a statement, noted that both plants commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, adding that while PHRC was ramping up its operation to about 60 per cent of its 210,000 barrels per day capacity, WRPC production was projected to hit 80 per cent of its installed 125,000bpd capacity.

The NNPC said the Port Harcourt refinery was projected to boost the nation’s local refining capacity with a product yield of five million litres of petrol per day, while Warri refinery would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol.

Providing insight into the rehabilitation exercise, the NNPC noted that it had to adopt the phased rehabilitation strategy after the Original Refinery Builders, who were initially contacted for the project came up with unfavorable terms.

It said, “Though a decision was taken in 2011 to rehabilitate all the refineries using the ORB of each of the refineries, we were impelled to switch strategy after the ORBs declined participation and nominated some partners in their stead who came up with outrageously unfavorable terms.”

The NNPC stated that the nominated partners, as sole-bidders, came up with humongous price offers after two years of thorough and exhaustive scope of work definition and price negotiations.

It added that the proxies were also unwilling to provide post rehabilitation performance guarantees.

The corporation said, “The phased rehabilitation strategy which entailed phased and simultaneous rehabilitation of all the refineries using in-house and locally available resources in line with the spirit and letter of the Nigerian Content Law, also involved the use of Original Equipment Manufacturer representatives to effect major equipment overhaul and rehabilitation.”

The national oil firm said the phased rehabilitation programme, which started in October 2014 after the required funding stream was established, created a 70 per cent reduction in costs which helped largely in mitigating the financing challenges of refinery rehabilitation.

It observed that with the successful re-streaming of the PHRC and WRPC, attention has now moved to the 110,000 barrels per day Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company which was billed to come on stream soon.

Just as still there will be many government schools that are dilapidated and breeding badly educated agberos, thugs and criminals.

Is Eleyi a progressive politician or is he just another progreThief balablu propagandist like everyone in Oshiomhole’s Assembly of Past Criminals, APChuh

Uncompleted projects, dilapidated classrooms litter Ogun despite N10.2 billion rehabilitation

PREMIUM TIMES visited schools that the state government claimed to have rehabilitated and found decrepit and inadequate facilities.

Governor Dapo Abiodun said last year that over 400 primary and secondary schools have been renovated in Ogun State under his administration.

However, when PREMIUM TIMES late in 2022 toured the three senatorial districts of the state, our reporter found facilities in many public schools still in deplorable conditions.

The renovation project was executed with a N10.2 billion fund jointly contributed, equally, by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the state government.

UBEC released its share of the fund to the state government in 2019 to address infrastructural decay and inadequate facilities in 236 public schools across the state.

Why limit your advice to just road construction? Does the governor not have to also invest in water supply so that Ogun people are not deprived like their neighbours in Lagos?

edet19892015:
Unless you understand your role in society, you can never make any meaningful contribution.

According to the Greeks, they are three types of people on Earth,
1. The idiots,
2. The tribesmen, and
3. The citizens.

Studies show only 10% of Africans are citizens.
The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.

1. When the Greeks used the word "Idiot", they did not use it as a curse word.
Idiots are people who just don’t care.
If they sit for exams, they will cheat.
If they are in government they will steal.

An idiot does not care at all, if he eats bananas he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting them in a trash bin.

IDIOTS won't attend monthly neighborhood meetings. They won't pay security dues. They won't contribute to community development. Even when they see or know about something that will harm others in the community they won't report it. When they see/know/have something that will benefit their community they won't share.

In fact, Idiots don't care to register for or vote in an election, yet they complain the most. If they register to vote, IDIOTS will sell their votes for peanuts.

According to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.

2. The next set of people are "Tribesmen", these are people that look at everything from the point of view of their tribe.

These are people that believe in you only if you are part of their tribe.
It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest.

When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion, gang membership, group membership, party membership and even cult membership as a tribe.

A great percentage of Africans are tribesmen, because they view everything from the point of view of their tribes. They trust only their tribesmen

3. The last group are "Citizens".
These are people who like to do things the right way.
They will respect traffic light rules even if no one is watching them.

They drive within speed limits.
They respect the laws, and won’t cheat in exams.
In government, they won’t steal.
They are compassionate and give to others to promote their well-being.

Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone.
The Greeks called this group "The Citizens".

Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots, others have so many idiots.

A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation.
And an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.

But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.

Where do you belong? Are you an idiot, a tribesman or a citizen? Reflect on your life.
Reflect about your immediate community, city, state and nation.
