These are the reasons this revocation really pained soyinka....

1. Alignment with the US means alignment with leading nation of the world

2. Freedom practice in the US does not compare to anywhere else aside EU. And EU is a second fiddle

3. His bans will always be considered by all EU nations when he visited them... Maybe restrictions will not be denied, but delays about after review each time

4.soyinka is a fellow to many academic forums and attends alot of paid speech in the US to which some of his handouts can carry him living in naija for months comfortably...

Wole Soyinka once said he will tear up his US Green Card (GC) if Trump becomes president. Now, we hear about a permanent ban of his tourist visa, usually a B Category visa.

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot have both US GC and tourist Visa at the same time. Did Soyinka lie in the past about holding a US Green Card at the time he threatened to tear it? He lives in Nigeria, and not in the US. The purpose of a GC is to enable you live permanently in the US, though not as a citizen. Did Soyinka really destroy his GC after Trump became president and then applied for a Visa that was later (recently) revoked? Or was his GC already revoked long time ago because he abandoned the US permanently to live in NG? Hence, he held only a tourist visa until lately.

The truth is likely that you didn't hold a GC at the time you threatened to destroy it because you already lost it by abandoning the US long time ago. The US likely revoked the visa which you resorted to obtaining after losing your GC because they found out you made a false claim about possessing a GC.

Eeeya, sorry Prof. But seeing as you destroyed the Green Card in 2017 which a former US President lobbied to help you get, you ought to have an idea of why you find yourself in this predicament.

I agree that it is a shame that a Nobel laureate and one of the finest intellects that Africa has ever produced, cannot enter into the United States, but a former drug lord with dubious academic credentials can enter and leave America as he pleases, with his frequent meanderings funded by the Nigerian tax payer.

He is only deceiving himself if he claims he doesn't know why the US decided to revoke his visa the green card he destroyed is a US property and they have every right to use that against him. The US is not his nigeria that is notorious of rewarding bad behaviour.
