Unfortunately for Prof, countries have the right to refuse or restrict entry into their land. Hell, so long as you are a visa holder, you stay out of the issuing country's politics, because people are people, are sensitve. Until you become a citizen of said country, keep shut. Soyinka was safe so long as he did not interfere or critique any US president. |

This acclaimed wise man have the audacity and effrontery to tear US green card issued to him, yet he is crying for visa. He should be glad that he was not jailed for that. He should sit down and enjoy tinubu government. |

Its becoming clearer by the day that Wole Soyinka didn’t deserve that Nobel Prize. We can all see that from his character. He only got the award because other African authors at that time shunned the prize in protest but Wole, being the cunning man he is sneaked behind and collected it. Modified: How Wole soyinka betrayed Africa to receive the Nobel prize. Wole soyinka betrayed Africa by receiving the Nobel prize. Other African Authors were fighting to eliminate the influence of colonial foreign languages on Africa. African writers like Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, Ayi Kwei Armah and Obi Wali strongly opposed the Nobel prize because it was eurocentric and promoted only Europen languages like English and French. The African authors argued that language is not neutral that it carries culture, worldview and power. Therefore, recognizing African authors in English or French languages instead of an African language continues colonial domination because it privileges European ways of seeing the world. They believed true African liberation required writing, teaching and thinking in indigenous African languages to restore dignity and control of cultural narrative. They saw Soyinka’s insistence on accepting an award in English language and one that promotes the language of the colonialists as a betrayal of Africans. “You can’t decolonize the mind while speaking the colonizer’s tongue.” one of them said |

The irony is not lost on anyone reasonable. He never spoke ill of his current Nigerian president but choose to speak ill of president Trump. That was the height of hypocrisy and not an expression of principle. Stay back and let's make Nigeria enviable |

You destroyed your green card and vowed to not return to Us again, even international media carried the news at the time. Why are you applying for a Us visitor visa? Why are you disturbing us? Are you not ashamed of yourself? Stay in Nigeria and keep eating yuur corn. |
