Soyinka shouldn't care about the visa.

Tinubu renamed the National Theatre after him. The same Tinubu that he worships provided good healthcare, 24/7 electricity, developed Lagos and provided world class infrastructure in Nigeria. So what is it that USA has that Tinubu hasn't provided for Nigeria? Soyinka should sit tight and enjoy the El Dorado he recently created in his head. He is even lucky that many other countries didn't revoke his visas unlike many of his followers that have never crossed Murtala Mohammed International airport.

I hope he knows that the cancellation of his US visa carries equal or more weight than the Nobel prize. The lesson behind it very weighty. He can form a WhatsApp group with Cubana Chief Priest and co. who can't enter US. If not entering the US feels like this, one can imagine what not entering heaven will feel like.

After independence, he and Achebe and co argued that bkackism (called Negritude then) was a bad idea and that anybody who don't key into Western hegemony would regret it. White people from then on took control of them and used them to bring us as we're today.

Intelligent people like Cheikh Anta Diop, Obiajunwa Wali, Ngugi Wa Thiong'o, advocating for bkackism were sidelined. That's why they're not popular.
