There's nothing damning about what I said

Bandits make Christians flee their lands due to attacks, true...bandits make Muslims flee their lands due to attacks, true

Comparing this to israel and the West Bank makes no sense. The israelis expel Palestinians and replace them with israelis, bandits don't replace Christians with Muslims, those places usually remain empty until normalcy returns and the people go back

When did I state that victims of violence shouldn't seek justice?

Bandits usually don't physically occupy areas they attack, they engage in hit and run attacks. They emerge from the bushes, attack and retreat back into the bushes. They also extort communities prone to being attacked by them, by levying 'taxes' on the people in exchange for sparing such communities. Boko Haram is the one that tends to occupy areas they overrun

You can interpreted this however you want, you can even call me a bandit for all I care, but facts are facts

I'm not justifying killings but mischaracterizing issues will only create more problems
Again that's not true.
This is a report of armed militias taking over and renaming communities in Plateau state.
https://www.thisdaylive.com/2024/06/02/disturbing-occupation-of-151-villages-by-armed-herders-in-plateau-state/

How is that different from what the Israelis are doing in the West Bank.

You should know your facts before commenting.

Your commentary is providing cover for more inaction that will lead to more killings.
The aim is to stop the Islamist groups from killing both Christians and Muslims.
However, Christian advocacy groups will advocate for the plights of Christians. It is that simple.

Stop scribbling Man!! The United States military is not coming to Nigeria!!

Funny how a dude who supports Russian forces deployment in African countries, is now going paranoid over a potential US deployment on Nigerian soil which is not even feasible in the current state of things!!.

⚡A large fire is burning at the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast after multiple Russian Kh-101 cruise missiles and more than 50 Geran-2 drones struck it.

Electricity, heating, and water has been halted for the entire city of Burshtyn.

A government that holds meetings with bandits armed with Ak-47 guns the same bandits they are now accusing of this genocide will not do this

You're right.

I agree.

Nigerians should also seize this opportunity and request that the assets of our government officials and every member of their family be frozen.

Their passports revoked and blacklisted. That's the only way they'll sit up.
Even the asset freezing and sanctions is a slippery slope.
Today, they'll freeze assets because they're not doing enough to stop the killings.
Tomorrow, they'll freeze assets because we welcomed the Russian defense minister or collaborated with the Chinese on a satellite manufacturing program.

You have no idea how pissed off I am at the Nigerian elites.
Their regular idiocy has placed us in a no-win situation.
Ideally, unilateral economic action should not be acceptable on any grounds, but too many Nigerians have died on their watch while they fiddled their thumbs.

These things are clear... There's an agenda against some religious groups. If you don't believe it or see it, you're a hypocrite. There is no difference between you and the genocidal Zionist entity murdering children and women in Gaza. We should support Trump or whichever country to exert pressure on the government to protect Nigerians.

There's a reason I didn't dwell too much on Plateau state despite the killings there

Plateau's insecurity goes beyond this relatively new advent of banditry, it has been a subject of inter-ethnic and inter-religious violence for decades, with both sides taking heavy losses

As far as Plateau is concerned and to a lesser extent Kaduna, both sides are culpable of what can be described as ethnic cleansing and in Plateau in particular, the Christians have always had the upperhand being the clear majority

Now before you misinterprete my words, my point is that Plateau isn't a good example because of the history of violence in the State. Everything must be put into context

Once again, I'm not questioning the advocacy for Christians, I'm questioning the misframing of the realities

Shouldn't be hard to understand

If you clicked that link, you will see where the terrorist ransacked communities in Jos, turned the churches to mosques in those communities the original inhabitants fled from.
Check below excerpt from the ThisDay news article.

“It’s quite provoking to imagine that the foundations of churches that were destroyed by these terrorist elements have overnight been reconstructed as mosques, to the utter disregard of the fundamental rights of the displaced people. A case in point is the Rankum (Mahanga) in Jol, Ranchos, and Kak in Sopp, all in the Riyom LGA.

“For the avoidance of doubt, over 151 hamlets and villages are either totally ‘annexed’ or effectively being occupied by the Fulani militants, bandits, or terrorists in the aforementioned Local Government of Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, Mangu, and Riyom,” he explained.

Before this latest allegation by the Plateau youths, the son of the first Gbong Gwom Jos and spokesperson for Southern Middle Belt Alliance (SAMBA), Prince Rwang Pam Jr., had in a media interview in December 2021 claimed that 102 communities in the state were renamed and forcefully occupied by Fulani herdsmen, who had been attacking the state since 2001.

“When attacks happen, some say it was allegedly committed by herdsmen. They are not alleged herdsmen; they are Fulani herdsmen. Survivors know their identity and when they come to attack, they shout ‘God is great’ in Arabic. They kill women and children while mothers watch their daughters being raped. It is just pathetic. The killings have continued because the government allowed them. The annexed communities have increased to 102 because the government allowed it to happen,” Pam reportedly explained.

In the petition, MUTA further alleged that since 2013, “armed Fulani herdsmen have repeatedly wreaked havoc on communities in 20 of the 23 local government areas of Benue State, massacring thousands of people, destroying communities and, often, totally obliterating economic and cultural assets.”

Hoaxen:
All this genocide accusations flying around up and down until it reached Nigeria and south Africa is a direct consequence of the bastardization of the term "genocide" by Hamas terrorists sympathisers.

They modified the definition of genocide to fit their anti Israeli propaganda and now it can fit almost every conflict around the world. 🤭

If Hamas jihadists "genocide" propaganda continues. The term "genocide" will loose any real meaning as a term.

Just imagine:
Trigger happy police officers kill some youths = youth genocide.

Fight occurs in a market place between two tribes leaving two members of one tribe dead= tribal genocide.

Random Nigerian bandits kill some European tourists= European genocide. Etc

A round of applause for Hamas terrorist sympathisers 👏👏👏 they have given a very simple and straightforward word new meaning. 🤡🤡🤡
The term genocide is a legal term with a legal definition, not a matter of opinion

Try again next time

I'm sure you're an academic, even if not formal, you're educated

That whole article is based on allegations in a petition. Now what has been the determination after investigating the allegations?

I'm telling you that Plateau is known for tit-for-tat attacks and there've been instances where Christians uprooted Muslim towns and villages claiming the Muslims aren't indigenous

I'm not interested in who's right or wrong...check this link

What is the ratio of Muslims to Christians in the North?

I have said I do not agree with the genocide characterization, so abandon that line of argument.
The koko is that Islamists are killing Christians in the North and that is unacceptable.
Christians have a right to protest killings of members of their faith.
I say this as an agnostic.

Arm the Nigerian army proper and deploy hundreds of thousands of them to the worst hit areas and watch Boko Haram die a natural death.

That's what i want to see, not western forces in our country.

It's funny that this is happening now that western forces are being expelled from other African countries.

They're just looking for where to site their permanent bases.

You can only just give them what can last every seven days

A few weeks back, lawyer Gbadebo19 aka Scorpio99 was bragging about how JNIM was killing soldiers in Mali and Burkina Faso and used it to mock Russia and Ibrahim Traore, the president of Burkina Faso. I pointed out that JNIM was already in Benin Republic right at our border and will soon come to Nigeria. Guess what we are seeing on frontpage?

JNIM is in Kwara state where the same lawyer schooled:

I understand where you're coming from, though I want to make one correction...unlike Boko Haram, bandits aren't 'islamists'

Excluding possible foreign interference, there are a few reasons banditry got out of hand:

1. Unchecked cattle rustling against the Fulani people

2. Illiterate Fulani with no education, life skills and no real possessions apart from the cattle they herd, now found themselves deprived of their only source of livelihood and thereby took to criminality .i.e. kidnapping, bandit raids etc

3. Regular clashes between farmers and herders that spiralled into communal clashes

4. Illegal mining where herders were armed by politicians to protect mining sites, which led to violence and instability in those areas. A case in point is Zamfara

5. There are foreign interests that stir up violence in those same mining sites

6. Using the cover of banditry to settle old scores from past inter ethnic and inter-religious violence. E.g in Kaduna and Plateau

There are many other reasons, but I get your point

It's unfortunate how bad things have gotten, but I do hope this will atleast make those in charge situp and actually do something about it
We are in agreement that there are multiple underlying reasons for the killings.

But for too long we have allowed this issue to metastasize because we have put too much focus on properly categorizing the attacks.

For instance, a bunch of opportunistic herders with personal arms could fell a tree, drop it on a road, stop traveling passengers and rob them with one or more unfortunate deaths. Some of these militias are pretty much gangs like the confraternities in the South.
If Christian armed robbers in the South kill Muslim victims, no one gives it an ethnic or religious coloration.
So I get it. We are all Nigerians and we know the finer details of this multifaceted issue.

That notwithstanding, Christians in the North particularly in exurban and rural locations are being squeezed by the worsening insecurity, and Christians and other well-meaning Nigerians like myself have had it with the stories and explanations.
We are tired. They should make it stop. Both the killings of Christians and Muslims.
And for the umpteenth time, no one should ask Christians to tolerate or be circumspect about more killings of Christians because Muslims are also dying.
You don't ask a grieving family not to grieve and demand justice because other people died.

private American companies produce AK-pattern semi-automatic rifles for the U.S. civilian market, some of which were initially intended to be under license from the Russian manufacturer, Kalashnikov Concern.

Many USA companies can produce popular Russia fire arms even rocket launcher etc

They sell it to bandit because it easy to use those are not Russia made grade

When did you acknowledge it as genocide??

Your first contribution to the Sudan issue was to water down the atrocities by claming that mostly men where being killed!! True or false??

And then you tried to falsely attribute the carnage in Sudan to the US

Oga relax yourself!!
I have repeatedly referred to the genocide in Sudan as a genocide and you can see it here:

https://www.nairaland.com/7481160/russia-ukraine-war-world-news-weapons/4027#137301945

Meanwhile, you have refused to do so and have repeatedly referred to it as a “carnage” and "atrocities" instead of calling it the genocide that it is. And yet, you keep accusing me of downplaying a genocide you won’t even acknowledge.

But you likely did not know I called the Sudanese genocide a genocide because you are only interested in arguing from an emotional standpoint rather than addressing issues logically.

For context, Sainttwist started this conversation when he referred to those of us who condemned the Israeli genocide in Gaza as “women and children people” and said that we aren’t talking about the Sudanese genocide because Israel and the US are not the ones committing it. His wingman, Jerryking, then supported his stance.

I then pointed out that no one is talking about “women and children” being killed in the Sudanese genocide because the majority of the victims of the Sudanese genocide are men, which is true. I also acknowledged seeing photos of women being tortured by the RSF.

Even the Washington Post link the pleader who has never been to a real courtroom shared yesterday, clearly mentions that the people who fled El Fasher where the Rapid Support Forces has been committing a genocide are majorly women, children, and the elderly with very scanty men. This clearly proves my point about men being the main casualties of the RSF genocide and not women and children.

So how is that me downplaying a genocide? I didn’t downplay the genocide in Gaza and I will never downplay the one in Sudan too. But I know you guys will downplay both genocides.

You have already started by repeatedly referring to the Sudanese genocide as a “carnage” or "atrocity" rather than a “genocide”. Your man, Hoaxen, has offered you support by talking about people “bastadizing” the meaning of genocide and “genocide accusations flying up and down."

It is only a matter of time you all will begin to openly claim that there is no genocide happening in Sudan. I know you are currently in your usual wait-and-see approach mode where you wait for the US to opnely clarify its position on an issue before deciding on which side to take.
