Minimum monthly tax threshold for African countries
That's it you are not taxed until you earn above this amount monthly
1) south Africa 350k
2) Cameroon 160k
3) ivory cost 195k
4) Kenya 272k
5) Tanzania 160k
6) Garbon 315k
7) Senegal 136k
cool Togo 192k
9) Morocco 160k
10) Then Nigeria 67k

And you think threshold at 800k(67k a month)is good ?

The figures you quoted are not true for most of the nations up there. In Kenya, the first KShs 24,000 of monthly income is taxed at 10%, but a personal tax relief of KShs 2,400 per month effectively makes income up to this amount tax-free.
Secondly, the threshold is typically the income level below which an individual is not liable to pay personal income tax (PIT) due to basic personal reliefs or specific low-income exemptions and direct comparisons can be difficult due to differing national currencies, purchasing power parity (PPP), and local economic conditions.
Thirdly, tax laws and thresholds are subject to change based on national budgets and new legislation and in some countries, individuals may still be required to make mandatory contributions (e.g., social health insurance, pension, housing levy) even if they fall below the income tax threshold but this is not the case for Nigeria.

Lifting figures from several countries with disparate African economic situations and comparing as if they are like for like doesn't provide a credible picture.

You can compare data from various European countries with one another, because the fundamentals in one country are usually similar to those in the others.

In Africa, the differences between Nigeria and Morocco,or between Nigeria and South Africa are to wide for a simplistic like for like comparison.

Also, as the economy improves and salaries increase, the minimum income tax threshold will increase from the current N800,000 (I think) per annum.

Let's start from here.

After 2 years or so, labour unions CSOs, and workers themselves can start mounting pressure on the government to increase the threshold.

The economy needs to be on a stronger footing first.

We can't compare ourselves with Morocco, South Africa or even Kenya in terms of per capita income.

It is not just about a large population and size of GDP. Nigeria is not as rich as most people think. But it can become a lot richer if we do the right things.

Did you even read what you typed. Let me help you. According to you let govt tax people earning 67k a month. When the economy improves and salaries increase, govt should tax less. If salaries increase should govt not tax more

You have to raise the minimum wage until it is high enough to bear tax. You can't have money to run things if you exclude some income earners from taxation

No need to change it to naira because the tax in Kenya is not deducted in naira.
