WriterrNg:If US states Dept says the Russian deployment "undermines" regional stability what should we call what US has been doing over the past month by deploying military assets to Carribbean and off Venezuelan coast and threatening Venezuela with military action. ![]() |

⚡A large explosion rocked 🇺🇸 New Mexico’s biggest oil refinery on Friday, injuring several people and sending a massive column of smoke over the city of Artesia. The blast occurred at the HF Sinclair Navajo Refinery, the largest refining facility in the state and a key processor of oil from the Permian Basin one of the most active oil-producing regions in the world. Residents reported hearing a loud boom before seeing dark smoke rise above the city skyline, citing foreign media. Artesia Police Chief Pete Quinones confirmed that while no deaths have been reported, several individuals were hurt. Emergency crews set up a helicopter evacuation zone to transport the injured for medical care as authorities worked to assess the full scale of the damage.

nigeriansamurai:Take APC out of the matter. It doesn't matter which party is in power. The killings in Nigeria by BH and co are more of ethnic cleansing rather than a genocide but you can't take away the fact that Christians are not safe in the core northern Nigeria Take this for example: Despite all the killings in Nigeria since the time of GEJ, southern Kaduna remained a safe place until the last tenure of El Rufai. We all know that southern Kaduna is majorly made up of Christians. What happened in southern Kaduna is better left unspoken about. One way or the other, Trump is right!!! |

The 2 most important men in the Ukrainain military, Syrskyi and Budanov are currently in Pokrovsk trying to organize the city's defense. If that doesn't tell you how important this city is to Ukraine then I don't know what will. When Russia finally captures it, the clowns here will say it's just a tiny city with no value. They're already beginning to say that it took Russia one year to do that, when we all know Russia only just entered Pokrovsk about 4 months ago.

I am wondering why ethnic cleansing does not legally fulfil the definition of genocide. Honestly to me, it looks like a lacunae. Genocide is defined to be the systemic and deliberate killing of a particular group with a view to eliminating them........ this definition stricto sensu doesn't say the group has to be a religious group. nigeriansamurai:Christians are in minority in the North, you can't fold your hands and wait until they're totally wiped off, their land and properties taken by Islamist terrorist in the North. |

There will be no US military intervention in Nigeria that is a fact, it is not feasible for the US military to deploy it troops in Nigeria. The mere deployment of US troops on Nigeria soil is a prerequisite for anarchy.. our Northern brothers will see it as a threat to their existence.. such move will only bring more harm than good.. and besides such move will not be a good image for the Nigerian government..It will be tantamount to a breach of Nigerian sovereignty All these are normal Trump rethorics and they all end on social media.. no sensible Nigerian wants forgien troops on our soil.. if Trump and any other country wants to help ..send weapons or send a small contegient to help train our troops on counter terrorism techniques The best thing Trump can do is a show of force.. He might even command the US forces under Africom to be ready to intervene, he might even order some F35 to US bases in region as a show of strength |

Scorpio99:Well... you believe what you want, but I believe Insecurity in Nigeria is closely linked with the APC. Like I said since they set their sights on power (GEJs era). please bro make we leave wretched Nigeria politics for now. And as for Trump right or wrong he is ruthlessly opportunistic. |

If the Rwandan genocide is anything to go by, then we can safely say for.certain that there is a genocide going on in Nigeria which is not necessarily a Christian genocide but is still a genocide. The Rwandan Tutsi Vs Hutu matter was also an ethnic cleansing. |

Scorpio99:to answer your question ethnic cleansing is a rather geographic topic, doesn't necessarily have to be killing just removal of a people from a place. you can say that genocide is a means of ethnic cleansing Annexation of Poland by USSR was called ethinc cleansing. by the way, I want to ask you a question do you classify the killing of christians in the northern Nigeria as genocide. |

obedience4:The middle sentence is one of the places where I am always confused about whether former president Obasanjo is right or wrong. OBJ made it clear several times that of Nigeria should divide, the first thing each of the major ethnic group will do is build an army. He further went to state "an army which may not work." Put succinctly, the unity of Nigeria might be feasted upon by the bigwigs of the ethnic groups to perpetrate all sorts but a division might lead to a total capitulation of a or some particular ethnic group. The unity might be useful after all. Your view. |

nigeriansamurai:There is a reason why I brought southern Kaduna into the matter. Without what happened in southern Kaduna, I wouldn't classify the killing of Christians in northern Nigeria as a genocide. I mean, it hasn't gotten to the scale of a genocide. What happened in southern Kaduna was ethnic cleansing, and ethnic cleansing speaks a lot of volume about genocidal intent. |

OkpaNsukkaisBae:That is not my point, I never said anything about folding of hands. It's very clear you have drawn a line like many Nigerians have but not everything is personal this is a general issue, instead of arguing would come if everyone works together. |

obedience4:THE US IS CAPABLE BUT I KNOW THEY WON'T DEPLOY ANYTHING. ALL BLUFF. WHAT I THINK IS REALLY GOING ON IS UNCLE SAM IS LOOKING TO EXTRACT SOME CONCESSIONS FROM ABUJA. JUST SOME FEW ROUNDS OF NEGOTIATIONS. THINGS WILL BE SORTED OUT. WELL TIME WILL REVEAL EVERYTHING. |
| Re: Russia-Ukraine War: World News, Weapons & Battlefield Discussions - Live by Nobody: 7:56am On Nov 02, 2025 |
nigeriansamurai:Now, if what is in your first paragraph is to go by, something like the mass removal of Igbos from a place like Ebonyi or Anambra would qualify as ethnic cleansing. That's right. But in reality, ethnic cleansing are rarely achieved through such means. Genocide seems to be the only way or at least 98% of how ethnic cleansing is achieved. |

nigeriansamurai:The point is that Nigerian government is not doing enough to protect Christians, Muslims in Nigeria. Seeing how government is pampering this murderous terrorists, investing state resources to train them. Then Trump or any other country is free to exert pressure on the government. Is this how terrorist are treated in China, Russia, Iran, India or Brazil? You will be a hypocrite if you don't observe what is happening

obedience4:You don't get it.... The way you guys think these things are funny! Do you think USA will have boot on ground in USA if they want to invade. . They will support and create a militant group, fund them arm them and ensure they are equipped that has been their modus all these years |

Gbadebo19:Genocide no get scale bro. the killings in Nigeria (particularly by Islamic Extreme sects) are genocidal in nature. over the years millions have been killed. you think that no particularly ethnic group is targeted, but many individual communities have been destroyed... These groups acts independently and radically (you can't even count the number of terror groups/bandits in Nigeria today) therefore it makes it hard to aggregrate their actions. Genocide is either premeditated or collateral. In Nigeria it's both. Remember the village that loss over 200 people in one night 2 months ago due to a raid by bandits. (thats a classic example of genocide) |

Scorpio99:yup that would be ethnic cleansing. well also in reality forced relocations have taken without relatively much bloodshed like I mentioned earlier. Annexation of Poland, annexation of east Germany by Poland, the Exodus. but more or less your right👍🏿 you can't just walk up to a man and tell him to leave where he has lived for years. |

ariesbull:So, you think they are supposed to use their own soldiers to fight your own problems. That is stioopiditi of the highest heavens if you ask me. By the way, can you suggest a better way to do it? Don't come with all those arm your national army and provide weapons for your army. If your army is not considered a serious one, or indications point to many saboteurs within it, they are very right to believe that their weapons will eventually end up in the hands of the same terrorists they are supposed to be used against. |

obedience4:A broken clock is right twice a day. Rooting out terrorists in Nigeria would require close US coordination with the Nigerian military or a full US military presence, and it would certainly not be concluded in days or weeks. Coming in 'Guns Blazing' would lead to few bandit casualties and massive 'collateral damage' and depending on who the victims of that campaign are, it might lead to bigger bloodshed than we cant fathom on this thread. The best way to help us out is to sanction the government officials where it hurts and coordinate with our military while watching out for saboteurs. If they can do that, even if they steal 'our' resources, then good. But I am personally not going to fool myself with that belief. |

FoolishBoy419:If they sanction Gumi, El Rufai and co, same you will be crying. We all saw Gumi holding meeting with bandits and terrorists. The first governor to propose negotiating with terrorists was El Rufai. |
