Dr. Stella Chinyelu Okoli, the visionary founder and Chief Executive Officer of Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, is set to commission a ₦35 billion Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing plant in Sagamu, Ogun State, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s quest for self-reliance in pharmaceutical production and industrial growth.

The new facility represents a turning point for Nigeria’s healthcare and manufacturing sectors, as it will significantly reduce the nation’s dependence on imported raw materials for drug production. For decades, Nigeria has relied heavily on imported APIs—key components used in formulating medicines—making local manufacturers vulnerable to foreign exchange instability, supply chain disruptions, and inflated production costs.

With the launch of Emzor’s API plant, Nigeria is taking a bold step toward pharmaceutical sovereignty, ensuring that more medicines are produced locally, affordably, and sustainably. This development aligns with the Federal Government’s agenda for industrial diversification, job creation, and import substitution, especially in critical sectors like healthcare.

Beyond its economic and health implications, the factory is also expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, particularly benefiting the South-West region.
