abduleez1:
If my opinion has any significance to you that is.... Here's what I'd do:

A massive reorganization of the army and it's hierarchy is needed. And a massive retraining of the top generals and junior officers of modern day Counter terrorism operations.

The public also needs to be factored in and embraced into this. Nigerians needs to be equally cooperative and report suspected sightings and gatherings of bandits, terr0r!sts and co, irrespective of ethno-religious relations.
Some of these £v!l are usually allowed to be perpetuated by people refusing to speak out when their fellow ethnic person is doing crimes or doesn't affect them.

I have this opinion that something is seriously wrong with the Nigerian Army. Unlike the Nigerian Airforce and Navy who seem to be doing well and making headway. NA is just different in being backwards.

Serious lack of the appropriate equipment and poorer welfare to their soldiers compared to NN & NAF. This needs to be addressed because it's only a motivated soldier that would be really willing to fight and risk his life for his country. When morale is low you'd continue to see the show of shame and incompetence that happened earlier this year where bases where overrun by terrorists.

I updated myself middle of this year regarding Nigerian military operations and was shaking my head with the repeated mistakes base commanders made regarding base protection. Several bases across the north attacked and some overrun with weapons carted away and soldiers k!lled. It's even embarrassing when you learn that some bases where attacked with improvised drones dropping mortars on defense points.

So this is where drones comes in.
NA already employs drones well enough now but I don't think in an organic level that is required.

The elites in the NA mostly seem to believe in the bigger drone platforms — the million dollar platforms, the MALEs (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) drones and overlook the impact of even small strategic battlespace drones even for reconnaissance. Every base should have at least 2 drones inspecting their various sectors at all times especially at night armed with night vision electro optics to provide a sense of security so they aren't surprised by ambushes and even see them long before it happens and prepare and wait for them or launch counter offensives.
Every significant fighting regiment or platoon should also have drones for monitoring their environment while in convoys or on the move.

NA needs an airwing of its own. Almost as big as the NAF but mostly focused on drones and attack/assault helicopters.

Most importantly, our border issue needs to be addressed. I'm in support of closing our northern borders. How? By digging big trenches around our borders or building border walls. And manning them with personnel as well as massive drone monitoring and sensors for tracking.

I'm not in support of this notion Northerners hold of our Northern neighbours being their brothers and all sorts. I don't believe in the practice of having immigrants from other countries freely moving across our borders without checks. More especially when it involves unstable countries with strong jihadist presence.

Then there's this issue of chronic poverty in the North. I'm sorry to say if this kind of poverty remains and even worsens as it is there's nothing anybody can do to stop this massive insecurity. Even almighty US won't be able to do jackshit and would just flee like they did in Afghanistan when they get tired.

Terrorism or counter-terrorism these days isn't really about weapons and stuff tho.... It's more an ideological battle than the physical bombs and manifestations you see.
How do you solve this? Improving the human capital development index of the region and the country and massive emphasis and investment in education. Not all those Madrasat or islamic scholar style of teaching the north encourages (which helps spread extremism since they're not regulated). Or is it Almajiri they call those stuffs.

You first have to have a battle of their thinking and mentality before you say you want to start fighting them physically.
Cos as long as there's the incentives to join islamic extremism... there'd be no shortage of foot soldiers. Sponsors needs to be pursued, ethno-religious sympathy needs to be squashed. Breeding grounds for terrorism that poverty and lack of education breeds needs to be wiped off or reduced to the barest minimum.
If not....na soldier go, soldier come. That's why we've been fighting the same terrorist elements for decades.

And we need to stop this useless practice of releasing "repentant" never-do-wells back to society. Left to me, it's summarily exécút!0n for all terrorists caught. Only women and children might face milder penalties.

These are just the few ones I can type cos it's very long. Most of this even the Army are aware of and the authorities.

There's many things to be done but all this is for nothing if there is no political will. Because I feel, political will is the issue here. And when there's no will all you'll be doing is treating the symptoms instead of focusing on the root cause. You'll keep buying and seeing weapons and multirole ground jets commissioned all the time without much impact.
Nice 👍, looks like a Chatgpt write up which is ok. Do you think our Govt and Federal and State level are serious about ending the daily killing of Nigerians?

Another reason i loathe the Brits. These folks colonized us, but were careless afterward. It's a blow to them to see the U.S. beat them to such an act.

Oh, I forgot they've been infiltrated and confused. kiss

Lmao.. I pity the people that think this will lead to anything lasting.

Apc government??

The same FG/Tinubu we had to drag and insult before they paid a visit to Benue and still tinubu did not get to the attacked areas.

Just go to Washington, chop the embarrassment, make the necessary deals with them.. Come back and resume the rubbish you've been serving Nigerians.
After all 2027 elections is the most important thing which is why you'll see how APC and their supporters will find a way to blame Obi for this after it has blown over.

Because when has the lives of Nigerians ever mattered?

Bimmarlykay:
Government been sleeping on this issue, only interested in winning next election,it took a World Power's speech to wake/alert the world.

We welcome any rhetorics, provided it triggers action towards peace.

Failure to do so,we welcome Trump fully.
We have grown increasingly immune to this killings in the middle belt over successive govt and we just move on. I remembered when I was around 10yrs old and graduated from children church to adult church in the early 90s one of the prayers I remembered the church praying was for God to spare the life of Zamani Lekwot former governor of Rivers state who was indicted by IBB because he led his Zango Kataf people to revolt against those killing his people. He was sentenced to death for defending his people

I also remembered when I was in the North and the Yelwa Shendam crisis just ended we heard tales of woes. In many parts of the North some people just feel they can kill people particularly Christians for any slight thing and nothing will happen. Whether its cartoon drawn by someone in Denmark who we didnt hear about, people must die, Miss world contest people must die, George Bush bomb Afghanistan, people in North must die. It even gradually started going into minor things. Rain didnt fall, sun set early, someone tore Koran 5 states away, someone allegedly insulted prophet, some people must die.

Which devolved from mainly Christians to anyone on their path. E.g grow plant for 1 year and my cows are coming to eat it and you cant do anything beside clapping for me or else you die

Now its a weekly thing almost all my lifetime and we just move on to the next one. That is why I am a vocal supporter of arming yourself. Someone cant just declare that today or this weekend you will die. Set calendar appointment and you just wait like chicken inside cage for your turn

I have family members who lived in the North and heard first hand stories from them

Our govt has almost deemed some people expendable who are okay to die every week and we just move on

Everything CIA this, CIA that.

Did CIA say your governors should collect allocation and not construct roads ?

Is it CIA that said your leaders should be living large on public funds ?

Unless you are not a terrorist you shouldn't be jittery about foreign military intervention, I'll rather have a foreign military steal my resources (allegedly) protect us than for the useless APC and their stooge to be using Christian lives to play politics

"Moderate" Muslims are jittering why are you jittering?
In some part of the world we are always too comfortable with people dying in mass and we just move on

Human life is the most important thing which many sponsoree gangs are always too willing to take in many parts of Africa.

Trump shouldnt just stop there. The one in Sudan too, the one in Chad basin anything it will take to stop the killings there is welcome. Even if it means supporting their current military regimes Because once dem overrun the buffer regions it will get to you.

The destabilization of the Sahel to "promote democracy" are part of what escalated these banditry genocides and 15yrs later we still dey collect

I saw videos of people in Sudan where a UAE backed militia is wiping them out steadily without any help. If they succeed, they wont stop in Sudan

I have noted with increasing concern the heightened pronouncements on Nigeria by President Donald Trump. This follows his designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

It is important to emphasise that our country is a sovereign nation whose people face different threats from outlaws across the country. The insecurity we face does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs.

The United States should assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country.

The Nigerian government should also consider appointing special envoys from its distinguished diplomats to engage the American government. Additionally, it is necessary to appoint permanent ambassadors to represent Nigeria’s interests on the international stage.

To my fellow countrymen, this is an important moment where we should emphasise unity of belonging over division.

God bless Nigeria. - RMK
