Every foundation built on lies will always wobble or at long last crumble. The geographical enterprise we call Nigeria today is a country that comprises many nations with different ideologies. In order to understand the current dilemma we find ourselves, we must understand the differences between a nation and a country.
A nation is a group of people with shared history, descent, culture and ideologies. While a country is a geographical expression with well outlined borders and self-sovereign authority. For example the Ibo people are a nation, just like the Yorubas and the Hausa.

Since time immemorial, the difference in ideologies of these groups of nations within a country has always been a problem. While religious beliefs play a crucial role in how these ideological differences are formed.

The Northern Nigeria is more complex or perhaps more heterogenous compared to the South. The Northern Nigerians are predominantly Muslims with Christian minority, how that happened is something we all should have been concerned about.

Without mincing words, the same people we call bandits, cattle rustlers, terrorist all have something in common, they are all Muslims and they are mostly Fulanis.

The Fulanis aren't historically Nigerians, since we have learned to accept them as Nigerians, Fulanis from Niger, Chad, Mali can easily claim to be Nigerians and commit these crimes probably in connivance with the ones in Northern Nigeria.

The Usman Dan Fodio conquest of Northern Nigeria had ethnic consequences, some argued it was a jihad and it had nothing to do with ethnic cleansing but the records says otherwise.

In fewer terse, the issue of ethnic cleansing has been going on in the North (especially around North Central ) for decades if not centuries, except it receives more publicity recently due to the advent of social media. Most minority ethnic communities are Christians, at these rate there will be none left.
First of all, who is a Nigerian?

Fulani have been in Nigeria centuries before the country called Nigeria ever existed. Fulani are even older than some ethnic groups in Nigeria you consider Nigerian...how many of you have very stupid takes is baffling

Claiming that Fulani in Chad, Mali etc can claim to be Nigerian is akin to claiming that Yoruba people in Togo, Benin Republic can do the same...once again stupid take

Bandits are mostly Fulani, I agree with that, though not exclusively so, because there are other tribes involved as well. Many of these herders aren't Muslim, they know little to nothing of religion and mostly just live in accordance with their cultural codes. If you didn't know, Fulani culture and cultural rules very strongly guide herders, they mostly don't live by religious rules

Usman dan Fodio didn't conquer Northern Nigeria, in case you don't know, he was born and raised in Gobir, in present day Sokoto. He wasn't some foreign invader like you're trying to make it seem and his wars had the support of the local populations for the most part, so I don't know what ethnic cleansing you're referring to and I hope you're not talking about the Hausa people

Most attacks by bandits are in rural areas, in the urban centres everyone lives without looking over their shoulders. Benue's insecurity is a recent thing, the old ones are Plateau and Kaduna so I don't understand the centuries old ethnic cleansing you're talking about.

In Plateau and Kaduna, let no one potray the Christians as angels because they have many atrocities against Muslims in those localities to their names

That system of government isn't feasible!!

Even if there's regional autonomy who then controls the central government?? Besides all region are not the same, some are more developed than others, some are more richer in terms of natural resources

It simply won't work
He's trying to describe a Confederacy, the only major disadvantage is the central government would be weak especially in enforcement of laws.
It works in Switzerland, the president is just a figure head with no special powers.
It might actually work.

⚡President Donald Trump said Xi Jinping understands the consequences if China invades Taiwan, while refusing to specifically say the US would defend the island, according to an extract of a CBS News interview broadcast Sunday.

Asked if he would order US forces into action if China moved militarily on Taiwan, Trump said: “You’ll find out if it happens, and he understands the answer to that.”

He added that China’s leaders “know the consequences.”

⚡Belgium’s Defence Minister Theo Francken said that three large drones were spotted last night above the Kleine Brogel air base, flying at high altitude in what he described as a clear command targeting Kleine Brogel.

He added that a drone jammer was deployed but failed, and police and a helicopter pursued the drones before losing them after several kilometers. Francken thanked security forces and called for urgent CUAS (counter-drone) reinforcements, saying the file is ready for the Council of Ministers.

Former Deputy Director of Defence Administration at the Defence Headquarters, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (retd.), speaks with DANIEL AYANTOYE about the recent reported coup plot, rising insecurity, and the arraignment of Nnamdi Kanu, among other national issues

Excerpts from his interview below....

"The issue in the North is not the same with that of the Niger Delta. They said they should be forgiven and reintegrated. What are you forgiving them for? These are just criminals. You can’t even really call them non-state actors. These are just criminals brought in from other countries. They are not even Nigerians. So, why do you start putting them in the armed forces? What is going on? This country is going to explode maybe in the next 20 or 30 years because all the people you are reintegrating and putting into the military are going to become major generals soon. And they are going to command your army, then turn the country into an Islamic state. What they are doing is wrong, and should be stopped. They should meet this force with force because this is a terrorist action."..
This is a former Deputy Director in Defense Headquarters spilling the beans. If you like no wise up.

I get you but I think you’re a bit harsh on Nigerians.

Nigerians are seeing the country as a failed state so they think foreign interference is a lesser evil.

I don’t want the USA involved but I don’t blame the citizens, I blame the politicians for bringing this evil on us.

If the US comes, occupation will follow

The North has rare earth minerals Trump is desperate to get, do you think they'll not corner those resources to replenish the cost of the 'intervention'?

Nigeria will just be another DR Congo with constant conflicts. Anyway, how will the US even protect the Christians? Will they spread their forces all across the North?

Another point to look at is that the US for a long time has been trying to establish a base in Nigeria but we have been rebuffing them. With Niger Republic closing their base, they now want to establish a presence here through the backdoor

Maybe I'm being irrational, but when has US occupation ever led to good for a Country?

Nigerians will find out the hard way that the US isn't coming to protect Christians, but to secure its own distinct interests

What do you even mean by occupation this man??

First of all, even if the US were to intervene, which is not going to happen.. it will be a joint military operation with permission from the Nigerian government. Where does occupation come from??

Russia military are in three African countries today, i have never seen you being critical of such military deployment. Russia is coming to save Mali and Co. from terrorism While the US is coming to destroy Nigeria and steal her resources.

Is Russia not in charge of minerals resources in the countries she has deployed her military assets? Have you for any time been critical of Russia's control of those countries' resources??

The US occupied Japan after WW2. Look at how Japan developsed is one of the largest economies in the world same with South Korea, even the Philippines. These are countries doing well

The question is simple? What happens to the region without much natural resources?? Knowing fully well the Nigerian economy is built of oil

These system of government can not work in a multi ethnic country like Nigeria..go read about the Swiss style of government the citizens votes directly on important issue in the country. How will a region like the South south win a vote against the more populated North??

Also there's also the issue of religion!!

⚡A ceremony marking the launch of the nuclear submarine "Khabarovsk" at the Sevmash Shipbuilding Plant. The Khabarovsk is considered Russia’s most secret submarine.

It is a special-purpose nuclear submarine of Project 09851, designed to carry the Status-6 and (UUV) systems.

⚡Russia launches new nuclear submarine Khabarovsk‑class (Project 09851).

The lead boat is named Khabarovsk (Project 09851) and is being built at Sevmash Shipyard in Severodvinsk.

The submarine is reported to have a displacement (surfaced) of about 10,000 tons.

It’s estimated to have a length of approximately 120 metres, significantly shorter than the ballistic-missile boat hull it is derived from.

The design appears to be derived from the hull of the earlier ballistic-missile submarine class Borei‑class but modified: dropping the large missile-tube section and re-purposing the hull for “special mission” roles.

It is widely reported that the boat is intended to carry the autonomous nuclear-powered drone/torpedo system Poseidon (2M39) UUV (also called Status-6).

According to open sources, it has endurance of up to ~120 days, diving depth around 500 m, and a crew size of ~100 personnel.

Education is meant to eradicate any form of illiteracy, the fact that you can scribble a few lines, I would assume you have attained some level of education however insignificant it appears in your crass mannerisms.

Firstly, the Fulbe people migrated to present day Northern Nigeria, just as some settled in Mali, Burkina, Chad, the Fulanis used to be under the rulership of the Hausas before Usman Dan Fodio declared jihad. No one's denying Shehu Usman is not from Sokoto. You can easily copy and paste any part of what I wrote on the internet, you'll find enough articles on it.

The Hausa-Fulani identity was championed after the successful overthrow of the Hausa kings and the establishment of the caliphate which Usman himself was the first Caliphate.
Other result of the jihad was the Subjugation of the Habes ( non Muslim ).

"
In essence, while the jihad was primarily a religious movement, its outcome fundamentally reconfigured the ethnic and power landscape of the region, creating new ethnic hierarchies and contributing to the complex ethnic dynamics seen in modern-day Nigeria and beyond.
"

Any Yoruba or Ibo or Hausa ( even the ones in Ghana ) outside Nigeria will tell you their their origin story is linked to Ile-ife, the Igbos to Nri or Aguleri people and the Hausa to Daura.

If Shehu Usman Dan Fodio didn't conquer Hausa land, why was he the first Caliphate ?

There's genocide of Christians in the north and the Middle-belt but not in a grand scale like we have seen in europe by the nazis germany!!

The major defence by some folks here are that Muslims are also been killed in large numbers too

The key to the question is this those Muslims who were killed weren't necessarily killed because of their faith. But we have seen systematic and deliberate killings of Christians in the north and the Middle belt

Christian communities have been sacked by terrorist groups simply becuse of religious affiliation. We have seen terrorist groups discriminate when picking their targets

There's a level of genocide against Christians in the middle belt and in the north.. but not at a scale that warrants the intervention of a foreign power.
I believe we need some level of foreign intervention to stop the kill of christians in the north because the Nigeria security forces and government is doing next to nothing to stop the killings.

Maybe sanctions on those that sponsor the extremists or public shaming

Intervention with sanction are fine by me, but unilateral military operations are a no. The best military intervention would be clearance and sales of sophisticated weaponry.. and maybe military training on counter terrorism techniques?
