IMEI:Honestly I don’t think USA or any foreign country is coming. This is Trump being Trump, remember Greenland and Canada, we’re still waiting on Venezuela. The USA and Canada have very large rare earth reserves. The main problem is the complicated and expensive refining process, no investor will invest that much in the north with all the insecurity. |

usmanpogo:Habe means an individual Hausa man, it doesn't mean non-muslim. The Hausa were already Muslim, the agitation of Usman Fodio was against the mixing of Islamic governance and traditional pagan practices by the leadership at the time The Fulani are aware their traditional homeland is in the senegambia region, my question to you is how does that negate their Nigerianness? Is the Hausa in Ghana or Yoruba in Togo any less Ghanaian or Togolese? I don't even understand your point Usman Fodio was the leader of a general uprising. It was an organic uprising he led with the support of fellow locals, who like him were fed up with the existing leadership. He became Caliph because he was able to unite the warring Hausa States into one structure, under a single leadership The Hausa kingdoms had been at war for centuries, killing and enslaving one another and he was able to unite them under a central leadership. He didn't impose any foreign ideals because he was from the people As for you saying the 'jihad' changed the power dynamics in the region, the Hausa apart from the previous rulers weren't in anyway relegated and the Fulani, apart from those who were part of the leaders of the uprising weren't in anyway upgraded If you read about how leadership was granted initially, ethnicity had nothing to do with it. The most knowledgeable scholars were granted leadership through consensus, it was only made hereditary much later on and that was in keeping with the traditional means of power retention the Hausa were used to. The nobility and major title holders remained predominantly Hausa, there are Emirs who are descendants of Hausa rulers and have no links with Fulani and the fact that even those who are descended from Fulani are for all intents and purposes Hausa, puts paid to the claim of an ethnic hierarchy If you knew a thing about Northern Nigeria, you'd realize that ethnicity isn't prioritised, religion is more prioritised in leadership. Kano is a good example, Shekarau's family is bura from Borno, Sabo bakin Zuwo was Nupe from Niger, Muhammad Abubakar of Bauchi was from Kogi but was Governor of Bauchi. There are tons of examples and if the power dynamics favour the Fulani, ethnic politics would be a thing The Hausa-Fulani identity is more of an acknowledgement of the shared history of the two ethnic groups in Hausa land. Those two ethnic groups are most responsible for shaping the history of Hausa land. It's also to acknowledge the Hausanization of the Fulani who became Emirs, as it is today |

obedience4:The US is currently issuing threats and isn't implying partnership but imposition and from how they're going about this, if they do come in, it'd be through coerced consent rather than willing consent The Russian military is in those countries at the instance of the leadership of those countries, Russia didn't impose itself on them About Russia controlling the mineral resources, once again it all boils down to willing co-operation. If Nigeria invites the US and cuts a deal for it's resources, I'll be less critical. I won't like it but I'd be more understanding Fair enough there are sparse examples of countries that have developed, against many that were setback. The main difference is that Nigeria has always been an ally of the US and it hasn't gotten us much, what would a military occupation of Nigeria fetch us? Especially if it's unwelcome? This is 2025 and not 1945 and honestly, America isn't a favorite of the majority of Northern people, but if the US enters in good faith (which I doubt they would), it'll be acceptable At the end of the day I don't know if the US will have a presence in the Country, I'm just sounding a note of warning |

Allthelight:You should have asked me if I supported it Nigerians need to get off this mentality that we're helpless and foreigners are our saviours. Things are bad definitely, but these foreign nations are predatory and as far as they're concerned, not you, but your land and resources are valuable to them |

⚡The U.S. is revamping its former Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Puerto Rico, adding runway upgrades, aircraft facilities, and ammunition storage. Recent F-35 deployments and nearby naval activity point to a growing military presence about 500 miles from Venezuela.

Go on twitter and see how unpatriotic we are becoming...very good. Our leaders caused this now a genz generation of unpatriotic citizens is what this nation will have. A divided nation that can never form a united front again an invading army... I've said it before I will rather fight for Russia and fall as a mercenary than to fight for Nigeria and fall as an hero, at least in Russia I know exactly what I'm fighting for. In Nigeria, I will fight for my faith first before the Nation. |

obedience4:Won't work in Nigeria. There are so many saboteurs in that army working for the interest of bandits and Terrorists more than the ones working for Nigeria. Those sophisticated weapons and advanced techniques may eventually end up for the benefits of the same terrorists they are supposed to fight. |

sainttwist1:Sanction is not enough. Some people need to be taught a few lessons that they can't impose their own all over Nigerians. |

obedience4:Many of the peoples touting for a regional system of government with a weak centre seem to forget that Nigeria once practiced it before and it was abandoned. Question is: why was it abandoned? In a regional system of government, the major ethnic groups are the ones that get the upper hand and are the rulers leaving the smaller ones as subordinates. There normally shouldn't be a problem with such an arrangement but when you look closely, the bulk of Nigeria's wealth (oil) is coming from those smaller ones. The south South. Thus, the major financiers of the economy will become less recognized. This was one of the reasons why people like Isaac Adaka Boko were against Ojukwu. Thus, it will only work if the tribes in the south South are also recognised as a separate region or several separate regions with their own governments, a thing which is not practicable. Secondly, the middle belt of the country consists of as many tribes as are many people's. Do they also get to have a separate region with their own government? During Nigeria's first regional government, there was no middle belt region, only a mid-west region and they were contented with it. As things stand today, the people of the middle belt will never agree to be ruled by the core north. Lastly, the core north will disintegrate very fast. Those ones are not better than the people of Syria, Iraq and the likes where they will start a war over each other's faction of religion. |
