Wow.. I think the snake was inactive that moment,as I learned they usually sleep at a particular hour of the day...
They are very fast and can disguise with the ground.

That should be paramole in Yoruba..

Thank God for safety

OP, yesterday i saw one on my way to work.

As i was walking, something suddenly start making way under my gaze. When i viewed down, i saw a very tiny snake but very long, i panicked with fear!

The funniest thing about this is that, the snake was also trying to run too away from me when we sighted eachother. But thank God i didn't step on it.

It eventually ran and hid under a gutter. And that is a place i usually walk past at dark hours(early in the mornings) without a torch.

Now i see the reason one elder always tell me to walk with torch in the dark, even if its a tared road!
you better get yourself a touchlight or make use of your phone light if worse come to worst, ruggedity no be for snakes ooo.I don't walk in the dark I must make use of light at worst my phone light to avoid story that touch.

@OP: Just know that the snake was not hungry and angry, else it would have bitten you to stupor. You are lucky.

Stepping on snakes is interpreted by them as danger. The only protection for them this time is to use their venom against the invading enemy.
Gabion vipers don't usually bite when stepped on. They're very docile. In my mom's community, they don't even bother killing the snakes, they pick it up with a long stick and throw it to another place

When I was young, I tried to kill a snake by repeatedly marching it with my slippers grin. The snake no feel am at all. It just left that place without harming me.

Another one was when I unknowingly urinated on a cobra. It was rainy that day. The cobra had coiled under our avocado tree. I was oblivious of it and was urinating on it. When I was done, I looked down and it was a cobra.

God really love me. I have other experiences.

That's a (13) thirteen year old gaboon viper.

Op you should check your leg for pin 📍 like dots, they will bite the part of your leg with the warmest blood which is your ankle or heel.

You should also look for Blackstone and put it on every part of your leg, if there's a bite spot there it will glue to it immediately it touches it.

I remember losing a close friend to snake bite....he was on the farm in okene when he saw a snake beside him and he killed it only to get home and when he was bathing he saw four dots on his heels that stung when he applied soap, his people said it's just grass that cut him....3 days later in the middle of the night he started vomiting black blood and bleeding black blood from his nose ears and eyes

They rushed him to hospital but the doctor said the venom had gotten to his brain already it was too late by then, we lost him before morning.

My point is this some snakes will bite you and you won't feel a thing but slowly the venom will start making way to the central nervous system and bypass the human heart to attack the brain instead.

It's young ones are still in same environment, tell all those who visit that farm to be careful. Search and hunt down the others ones.

Yes.

Stepped on a puff adder (related to the Gaboon viper), several years ago while on a farm. The only reason I am alive to write this today is that the snake was already dead. I have no idea what had killed it or whether it had died of natural causes.

It blended so well with the brown soil that I simply did not see it. I stood on it for several minutes while discussing with the farmers, only for one sharp eyed fellow to point out that I was standing on something I had no business standing on.

OP is very fortunate. Virtually all snakes bite out of instinct once stepped on by humans.

Have you ever stepped on a deadly snake? I did today—and I’m still shaking!

Today, I went to my papa’s farm to harvest some plantains. As I reached for one, something under my feet started moving violently, like the ground was alive.

I looked down… and OMO 😳—I was standing on a massive Gabon viper… with BOTH feet!

In my 100 level in school in Awka, I went to defecate in the bush cos it was way better early in the morning, as I stopped to poo, something just told me to look at where I stopped and right there camouflaged, was a little puff adder. It could have beaten my ass if I didn't just look back. That poo disappeared.

I screamed and ran, but fear made me trip, fall, get up, and almost fell again. My heart almost jumped out of my chest!

Somehow, I grabbed a stick and was able to kill it.

Never in my life have I felt fear like that. One moment, I was calm… the next, I was literally running for my life!

Anyway if you around Ondo Town, you may holla me for a tasty snake pepper soup.

Get a life chicken a goat or a cow for thanksgiving. You were seconds away from imminent peril. You would have been singing with Angels or In torment of demons.
I thank God for your life. He still has a purpose for you. Don't miss it

Did you know that it is an offense in the book of pepper soup that stepping on the main source is punishable by alligator pepper?

Very ungrateful creature, you stepped on a viper and narrowly escaped, yet still went ahead to kill it.
Do yourself a favor; stay away from bushes and farms forever.

I am sincerely happy and thankful to God for you.

Simply put, a bite from that snake kills in a very short time, I know of someone it killed.

Next time, always watch out for the presence especially when there are grasses in the farm.

It's quite timid so most times, it rolls itself and hibernate, hence the reason it hardly strikes first.

Growing up, I saw it a couple of times and you could pass it without either of you noticing but bro, that thing is lethal.

You get plenty mind sha
brain54:
I stepped on a python one time...

While crossing a small bush path on my way from a poultry farm some years ago.

It was dark that day...left the farm late. No lights. I stepped on it and crossed it. I felt something soft and kinda fluffy under my feet. I felt something wasn't right. So I put on my phone touch light and went back to check what I stepped on after walking like 3steps. It was lying across on the path in a way that the head was on one side of the road and the tail on the other.

I didn't see clearly and thought it was a rope or some twig on the path initially.

So I shone my light on the bush and saw the tail of the snake. It didn't even move or shake. I did something silly and crossed to the other side and shone the light on the head. I don't know if it was curiosity or what made me I can't explain but it still didn't move.

I just turned around quietly again jumped over it and continued on my way.

I was just playing in my head as I walked down "the Lord has given you power to step on snakes and scorpions and nothing will harm you"

This is the second time I'm telling this story!

You should be giving this testimony in Church or Mosque FIRST! Whatever supreme being you worship prevented the massive fangs from delivering a healthy fatal dose of venom into your foot which at BEST would have required an amputation.

MAN! You are the LUCKIEST Nigerian alive!!!

Considering it's colour, dry leaves everywhere and time of the day, I can't take the risk of hunting it down again since it's out of sight
