The Dwarfs Association of Nigeria (DAN) joined the global community in celebrating World Dwarfism Day on October 25, hosting awareness and advocacy events across the country, especially in Lagos and Osogbo.

The celebration aimed to educate the public about dwarfism, challenge negative stereotypes, and promote inclusion in workplaces, schools, and communities. DAN also used the occasion to demand an end to stigma, name-calling, and discrimination against people with dwarfism.

The group highlighted the achievements of members across various fields, reinforcing the message that “disability is not inability.”

They further appealed to government bodies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and corporate organizations to support their cause and fully implement the Nigeria Disability Act of 2018, which protects the rights of persons with disabilities.

Activities included public marches, awareness sessions, and advocacy campaigns against harmful media portrayals. DAN emphasized that people with dwarfism live active, fulfilling lives and deserve equal respect and opportunity in society.
