Many of you are even missing the point

If the US comes under the guise of saving Christians from Muslims instead of securing Nigeria as a whole and starts bombing Muslims to the exclusion of Christians, the Country will have a religious war on its hands

Northern Nigeria lies along the Sahel and the Sahel is awash with arms and armed groups. In the event of an explicit religious war against Muslims that Trump and Nigerians are parroting,(1) there'll be a flood of arms into the region, (2) there'll be an influx of many sahelian religious armed groups into the region, (3) pariah groups like Boko Haram and their likes will gain legitimacy among Muslims because they'll present themselves as defenders of the people etc

The Christians that Trump will supposedly send the troops to save will become actual targets in the eyes of many, who would have witnessed US bombs and soldiers killing their families and people in their name and so the genocide claim might actually become true and it'll be so while the US saviours are present

Much of Niger Republic is just an extension of Northern Nigeria and the Nigeriens whether overtly or covertly are likely to get involved, Chad may also, other Muslim countries may clandestinely provide support. Likewise, alot of Nigerian military personnel are Northerners who'll join the battle against the murderous US forces. For anyone to understand the significance of the North and Nigeria's military, alot of homes all across the North, whether poor or affluent, have sons and daughters serving or that have served in the military. The military culture in the North runs deep and so you'll have that being added into the mix

The reality is that, unless the US comes through the front door via co-operation and support, to carryout missions in conjunction with the Nigerian military, a unilateral war with the stated aim of defending Christians that leads to the targeting of and mass killings of Muslims who have nothing to do with banditry or any armed groups and are just daily trying to survive will lead to disastrous consequences. I believe it'll lead to a civil war much bloodier than the first because it'll be religious in nature

If that happens, a lot of the fools cheering for the US to come kill Muslims on this forum and beyond will likely be dead when all is said and done and the US would have done nothing but made a bad situation a lot worse for Nigerians, while they'd have secured the country's resources for themselves
I think both of us are trying to drive across the same point.

A referendum would involve representatives in the house of assembly and a general vote and I do not think this has been done yet. For protests, yes, Endsars comes to mind even though it wasn't an explicit call for restructuring same as all the fuel hike protests held during Jonathan's regime.

Maybe that should be the conversation we should be having now. What do we really want and how do we go about it? A dissolution into separate tiny states? Or a united one but with lesser power in the center and more in states or regions?
Again, I posit that if we had a vibrant economy almost none of these would matter (tribe, religion) America is currently home to different nationalities and each with their religious beliefs, Christianity, Hindus, Muslims etc. Everyone is making their money and living in a decent home so no one really cares. These things only become apparent in a condition of lack
All they need to do is add the clause in constitution no representative just add that peppe are free to do referendum

I think it is all talk and nothing more. How did they intend to act, bomb the entire north including the Nigeria army.

If they can't intervene in Sudan and the war in Congo why is Nigeria all of a sudden become a specific interest.

While I think the government need to work and find a permanent solution to killing in the middle melt, I think even Muslim too are also serious victim in the core north.

If they the Americans are serious they should work with government to find a lasting solution, I don't care if they have to form a new security outfit for the north central but while this is making headline because both the president and vice are Muslims, this thing has been happening right from obj's days as president, I think we need a permanent solution.

It's so funny that anyone particularly the leaders that that Nigeria is united, when they themselves created the avenue and channels of tribalism and religion division, all of a sudden they think it just started with Trump.
This country is on the brink and all it needs is a spark.
There's no unity with Christians and Muslim or the north and east..

I think so too. I know Trump's art of the deal is to threaten you with something outrageous so you'll now agree to what he wants eg favourable trade terms for him where he will cheat you, ask you not to trade with China, Russia, establish military base etc but I hope the Nigerian government does not allow itself get coerced to a vassal state status. The US is one devil we do not need in our corner. All they know to do is strong arm tactics and underhanded deals

The last incident was not the first. It has happened a few times. The Ukrainian situation is madness at this point. I do not understand what award they are so desperate to give that they had to mass soldiers at a location. The last time, they publicly announced the award, then Russia noticed, and sent missiles there.

Even if they didn't announce this one, are they so dumb to not realize that Russian has satellites that can observe such large-scale movements? Such irresponsible behavior from the Ukrainians.

Most Nigerians want the country divided, it is the manner they want it that is different. Majority so far favour a direct US intervention, same thing you claim was the situation in Mali and co where you claimed the majority was tired of French forces. But somehow, the ones in Mali where Russia came in via Wagner is the right way where the one where US will come in is wrong. Mtcheeeew.

⚡Putin wants to win the war, not negotiate mediocre ceasefire.

The Kremlin is not interested in a new meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump because the fall of Pokrovsk and the defeat of the Ukrainian army are perceived by Moscow as an indisputable fact”, writes the Italian Corriere della Sera.

The reason for the deadlock in the negotiations was and remains very simple, believes commentator Marco Imarisio.

As Moscow has been repeating for at least two years, Russia does not intend to sit at the negotiating table to cease fire in the war, which, it can win on the ground. On this issue, the Kremlin shows no ambiguity.

Jk210:
With Gaza winding down and UAE currently in the walk of shame after been called out on Sudan and probably trying to scale back its weapons purchase, more markets need to be opened for the US Industrial military complex. Ditto oil rich Venezuela and Africa which has always been a rich killing field. They see you as lesser humans, trust me.

Since Tinubu as Ecowas president didn't go in guns blazing to reinstate 'democracy' in Niger, thereby opening a massive weapons contract and helping them punish the African Sahel rulers that kicked out their military bases, Trump and the MIC are suddenly in love with Nigerian Christains. Notice how they did and still do nothing to help the Christians and minorities been killed in Syria by the followers of their installed Al-Qaeda president. Notice how Israel and UAE are the biggest markets for gold despite owning not one single ounce on their soil - all from war torn Congo. Remember the blood diamonds from Sierra Leone? Remember Patrice Lumumba, the Christian leader of Congo who was vaporized in acid (as we later saw done in breaking bad series) just for wanting the best for his people? Thank goodness Maduro's pilot didn't fall for the millions offered by the CIA to deliver Maduro to them. They know how to make you dissappear or say you commited suicide. No doubt the Nobel peace prize woman would have also given that pilot a good government appointment.

It's never about we the populace but their interest. Neo-colonialism and control. Let us open our military base in your country and have skewed trade agreements and we won't bomb or destabilise it. You refuse, we destabilize it anyway and install our puppet. Always a lose-lose with them.

We may like or hate China, but their non interference in domestic affairs is commendable. The west is never your friend. It is coercion or control and they always exploit the fault lines within countries for their gains. Sunni and Shia in ME, Christian and Muslim in Africa, Tribe in religiously homogenous countries eg Hutus vs Tutsi in Rwanda. They will always look for something to fan the embers.

Economically prosperous nations don't see differences. China's Muslim population don't feel diilfferently because they are okay(the US tried to exploit that and failed. So if we all focused on growing our economies, we wouldn't care about tribe or religion which is why they never want you to grow. They need something to divide you with. See how Israel always targets civilian infrastructure during wars rather than military targets. Keep them poor, eventually some will cave and turn to our informants and stooges (we saw it work in gaza and gradually in Yemen).

If all the boko haram terrorists were employed, had families and a meaningful life to return to, they wouldn't be interested in terrorism. Who's currently supplying them weapons and drugs? Hard drugs are what make a human like you take a cutlass and kill another person in cold blood without flinching. Because at the point of using those drugs you lose the brain's prefrontal cortex function which is what makes us human and you become subject to basal instincts like a lion attacking a prey. So drug trade flourishes. Weapons trade flourishes. Win win for the military industrial complex war machine.

It is time for the world to unite against the MIC. Against neo colonialism and control. It happened to my neighbour (gaza, libya, syria), I did not care. Now it's gradually coming to everyone's doorstep. Saudi and Qatar may think they're free for now. But honestly when the war machine is done with other enclaves it will reach their doorstep too.

Countries should learn to put aside their differences and unite against a common enemy. The US is not our friend. They never were. And wont suddenly be. It's time for African leaders to put their acts together and pursue development. The time is ripe for economically disadvantaged countries to push for BRICS to work
You have said it all, though I share the view that Nigeria needs external pressure on this matter.

Insecurity has become a lucrative issue members of the Nigerian government, and we as the citizens have failed to give them a befitting reaction. People have revolted and chased out presidents for far less serious problems, but we choose to rely on social media cries and prayers.

What's happening in Nigeria is beyond 'Christians are being killed' or 'more Muslims are being killed than Christians.' This is something that has consumed over 100,000 lives and billions of naira have been flushed down for nothing. Contrary to whatever your beliefs are, no innocent life is more precious than the other.

An intervention is seriously needed even if the intervening party only focuses on certain communities. But America will be the last country to throw bombs with the sole intention of protecting negro lives in a shithole country. They know better than everyone how slow and grueling it is to take out insurgents and they're not going to push their heads into that mess for some noble reasons. All these threats are either meant to secure unfair, humiliating deals or as you have suggested, to keep the MIC funds flowing by arming their jihadist foot soldiers to worsen the situation for everyone.

Expecting a US intervention to improve your country (or save Christians) is like expecting a lawyer that has lost 135/140 cases to keep you off death row. The idea only sounds sweet to the ear because of our desperate situation, but their CV in that regard is just too horrible.

They should pressure the government if they are sincere but anything beyond that is a big no for me.

Reading through this thread one can feel the pains roaring through the pages. Majorly from two sect of people.

1) from the Muslims/jihadist communities - its primarily driven by two things 1. The fact that another brutal sect is coming to give them a dose of the oppression they've been ditching out to the Christians in their midst over the years and the possible massive fallout of instability/set back on its Islamic agenda
2. The fear of the collapse of the current economical/political structure, being broken down against their wish vis-avis the disintegration of the country.

2) from the Christians and southern brethrens - the current drain-bound system the country is currently helplessly entangle with as a trap, regrettably very painfull towards national existence.. sharing a country with these kinds of humans will continue to be costly both in human life and social development to those in it's area of its operations. No sane human who still draws breath currently living in this country either as a Christian or a southerner should find it hard supporting trump and the US for this cosmic mission.. No matter the outcome thereafter it can never be worse than it already is. Let those who wants to Operate its sharia operates it far from the rest, form new caliphate, create more laws and govern itself as it like but never to dictate or drag others along.. W're all very tired sharing a country with this animal thinking creatures, they're egocentric, very entitled and nomadic in nature.

#Let the US come already. Alot don't care what goes in their coming.!!
Since nothing has happen from within, let's all work and support the help from without. This might be our only opportunity

but if Genghis Khan could unite the mongols, Nigeria na small case in the hands of the right leader. I believe Why we have religious and tribal bickering is simply because, we have not had a strong leader that has been interested in Unity, rather we've had rulers that benefit from the division.
Most of these disagreement are stimulated by few people
The polarity isn't because of leadership.

Irrespective of who the leader is today and how intentional and hardworking he is to get things right, Nigerians will always judge andcriticize him based on his tribe
