Sharia law in a secural state would always be problematic, especially because a lot of the things it proposes runs in parallel with our secular laws.

Even as a Muslim, if I elect to not be tried using Sharia law, I should be allowed that right even while maintaining my membership of Islam, but that's often not the case.

When we were still shopping for uni for my son, someone suggested NDA.

I said nothing will make me send my son to serve in a entity dominated by Conservative northerners who see yorubas as lesser Muslims and who in my opinion are sympathetic to boko haram ideology.

The Yoruba man who lived there told us to be careful of these Northern indigenes. He said that when there's religious violence, they (Yoruba Muslims) usually join the Christians to run.

Talking about intellectuals, you should know that a professor of law at Usman Danfodio University led dozens of other Muslim lawyers to defend the killers of Deborah in court.

That should tell you all you need to know about the roles of so called intellectuals in the whole madness. While people like Bashir Ahmad and others will say they support death as punishment for blasphemy but just not death carried out by the mob ; people like that professor no send any yeye political correctness. Buhari was the president in 2022 when the incident happened so we all can read the handwriting on the wall that himself and the fundamentalists in his government don't fancy the idea of "true believer" getting convicted over the death of an infidel like Deborah.

Tinubu the moderate has been in office for 2 years counting and no rearrest has been made to make a statement that his government doesn't tolerate murder of non Muslims over issues that has nothing to do with faith in Muhammed.

Which of these is the faulf of state government? What would the state government have done to change the tide of things? Remember the state commissioner of police whose boys failed to appear in court to prosecute Deborah's killers are answerable to the IG and the IG is answerable to the President/GCFR.

I can go on and on to show you how governors can't do beyond forming paramilitary agencies who only carry small or no firearms in "combating terrorism and genocide", but the buck still stops on the table of whoever heads the FG.

Akaluka was beheaded by a Muslim extremist mob for alleged desecration of the Quran by his wife.

Shortly afterwards Abacha jailed Sanusi for a year. Most of the other mob leaders were either executed or assassinated Abacha style.
