IMEI:In the time you have typed all these missives defending terrorists because it was Trump driving awareness, Nigerians have been killed in Plateau, Kwara, and Benue. Three different states In 3 days. Tell us when the killings will stop? No way. Let someone else stop the killings? No way. Nonsense! You expect me to mince words because of the "sensibilities" of people who have not once talked about bringing the killers of Deborah to justice. -Lord |

⚡The Trump administration is considering a wide range of military actions against Venezuelan President Maduro, including airstrikes on military units protecting him, special operations targeting his capture, and possible seizures of oil fields. Officials are seeking new legal justification by portraying Maduro as a narcoterrorist to bypass laws prohibiting assassination of foreign leaders.

IMEI:👍👍👍 I am tired of this issue sef. Everyone has become emotional, making irrational posts all because of religious sentiments. If it were tribal sentiment, I would understand. That's why I don't want to speak on it anymore. Once religious issues enter any discussion, rationality is lost. It's no wonder our politicians easily use our religious sentiments to manipulate us. |

Let me chip in certain important facts about northern Nigeria with respect to my experience as a youth corp member who served and lived in the north, specifically in Kaduna South (and Zaria) many years ago. (I will break it into multiple parts.) We southerners have a very poor knowledge of northerners in general. We usually view them as if they are from another country, but I can confidently say many of us have never even interacted with a real northerner before, outside of those mallams who sell provisions and do mai suga. Those ones are usually (but not always) Hausas. But you see those okada riders, cart pushers, shoemakers, and those tailors that carry their sewing machine around, they are usually not even Nigerians. Many are from Niger, Chad, and Mali, and come to Nigeria to work. That is why many of them don’t even understand pidgin and will start looking like they are lost when you talk to them. But they will usually pretend to be northerners just to avoid immigration issues. So the main issue is why do we southerners not have knowledge of the north. A good reason is our textbooks. They tell us Nigeria is divided into Hausa/Fulani in the north, Yoruba in the southwest and Igbo in the southeast. They don't even talk about other ethnic groups that are politically and culturally important, such as the Ijaws and the Benin, not to talk of the minority tribes all across the country. There are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria. Around 200 of those ethnic groups are in the north. And in the core north itself, the number of ethnic groups there is almost 100. So, it is wrong to say the north is Hausa/Fulani. This applies everywhere too, including Lagos, where we have the Egun tribe, who are indigenes. But the south is generally more ethnically homogenous than the north. But the bigger reason we do not know about the other ethnic groups in this country is the media industry. Our media industry is fractured into the northern and southern sections. Southerners and northerners do not watch the same movies or tv stations or even read the same newspapers. Northerners watch Kannywood. We watch Nollywood. We do not listen to their music, or know their famous musicians, and they too do not know ours. They know Davido and Wizkid and Burna and the other top dogs that are internationally famous. But they do not know less popular but internationally recognized ones like Arya Starr or Tems or Fireboy. At most, these ones can have a fanbase in major cities and metropolitan areas but that is where it ends. This north-south media divide thing has led to the common recurring issue of southerners accusing northerners of harboring terrorists and not condemning the killings in the north. This is a false narrative. The truth is that northern media reports the terrorism in the north, but we often do not hear about it down here because we do not watch their news or read their newspapers. During Buhari’s era, northern and southern journalists and media were even openly fighting against themselves over the insecurity and terrorism issue in the north. In the heat of the back and forth accusations, someone from the north (who I sadly do not remember) referred to southern media as “Lagos-Ibadan expressway media.” That person was clearly referring to Punch newspapers that has its headquarters on that expressway. Punch is the most popular newspaper in the South here. And we read Tribune and Vanguard and The Nation too. In the north, it is Daily Trust. Then they read other ones like Blueprint and Leadership. Daily Trust condemns terrorism in the north. But then we do not know because we rarely read it down here. This is why we think they do not condemn it. Northern media and journalists themselves have also accused southern media of underreporting the terrorism in the north. And when southern media reports it, they sometimes do so days after the incident, or frame it along ethnic and religious lines, even when it wasn’t so. This leads to the other issue of southerners always dragging all northerners (and sometimes, all Muslims) into anything a northerner does to a southerner or to a Christain. Then another bias that northern media pointed out is that southern media tends to focus on religious issues involving the north. For instance, southern media will often cause an uproar when the presidency drops money for muslim pilgrimage but will say nothing about when the presidency drops money for crhristian pilgrimage. Search for these two terms and compare what you see: federal government subsidizes muslim pilgrimage federal government subsidizes christian pilgrimage You will notice that southern media extensively focuses on the costs of the muslim pilgrimage while the same southern media says nothing about christian pilgrimage. This is the bias the northerners are always talking about. Again, these are not my words. I am indifferent to religion for the most part. But I am only showing you the bias I have heard from northerners in person, on social media, and from their media and journalists. The same way, northern media points out that when a northern governor builds a mosque, we start hearing uproar from southerners about how northerners are this and that but southern governors almost always build churches and no one bats an eye. The same way, southern media caused an uproar when Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped the Chibok girls. The girls are from one of the minority tribes in the country and are majorly Christians. (I will address this northern ethnicity issue and politicization of religion in another insight.) Northern journalists pointed out that southern media consistently reported the news and heavily referenced the Christian background of the girls, but didn’t do the same when Boko Haram and those bandit terrorists kidnapped girls in Dapchi (Yobe), Jangebe (Zamfara), Kankara (Katsina), Tegina (Niger), Kagara (Niger), and Kuriga (Kaduna). The majority of the girls (and sometimes, boys) in these schools are Muslims, but their kidnap did not receive the same or even considerable, attention as the Chibok girls received in southern media. Many of us are even hearing of these kidnaps for the first time except maybe Dapchi, which went viral because of Leah Shuaibu, the Christian girl who Boko Haram/ISWAP refused to release. Meanwhile, northern media always reported them, which is what pisses them off when we accuse them of not condemning terrorism in the north. They, in turn, say they do and accuse southern media of underreporting news about terrorism in the north. Outside of the media rivalry, another interesting thing is that many southerners do not know of the serious rivalry that this kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism issue has caused between the Hausa and the Fulanis. During Buhari’s era, Hausa vigilantes were even attacking and killing Fulanis. The whole banditry and terrorism thing is even causing severe rivalry between the Fulanis who live in the bush and herd cattle and the Fulanis who live in towns. Fulanis in towns are even trying to distant themselves from the ones in the bush. Believe it or not, even Fulanis are victims of the herdsmen. During my NYSC, I had an issue where a Fulani man had to hide two of his children because a Fulani bandit threatened him to pay 1.8 million (900k per child) else they would kidnap them. He hid the children and stopped them from going to school until he could rally the money. And he said other Fulanis in the area had received similar threats. In all, most of us southerners have never lost a single family member to the terrorists roaming the north. But many northerners irrespective of ethnicity and religion have lost family, homes, and businesses to it. The whole misinformation issue goes back to the media. Always remember: We watch different news programs and read different newspapers. |

Those two folks are easily the most use-less creatures I have seen in a while. I have known them for a few years and I do not think they have ever said anything good. They are as toxic as a person can be.They cannot and should not be ignored. Anything done to their masters should be extended to them. |

LordAdam16:This has been stance: you say you don't want US interference (I don't want it as well), but why have you been silent when Christians are butchered across your region? Why have you been mute when jihadists raze communities? You want the US to cooperate with an army that collaborates with Fulani terrorists? When Deborah Yakubu Samuel was flogged mercilessly and later burnt to ashes, these people defended it! How can so-called educated people with MSc and PhD defend such an atrocious act? Then tomorrow, you preach uNiTy?! |

shoodboi2:i know you took time to type this out and it is informative. but let me share a riposte. have you noticed how our national media highlight news stories about the accomplishments and fails of Nigerians abroad. when Nigerians are apprehended in the Emirates for committing crime, the media carries it. when a Nigerian becomes a mayor or is elected or appointed to a high office, the media celebrates it. when a Nigerian excels in business or profession, we know. does it imply that only Nigerians commit crimes abroad or start businesses or get elected? do you think any Russian or Chinese media highlights the kidnappings in Southern Nigeria or the burning of churches in Northern Nigeria? explain exactly how Southern media reporting on every terrorist attack on northern muslims will end the killings of both christians and muslims? so until we start covering every terrorist attack, they will not find a solution to the menace. wonderful! do you think i give a sh*t if northern media reports on cult killings in southern nigeria? i wonder why it is only when it comes to the north that we need to understand nuance and context and obtain PhDs in anthropology. how about they end the killings and we don't need to worry about any of that. here's something that should not come as a surprise to you. the south has a deep resentment of the north. and this is not just about the south east. it is not that southerners have hatred for northern muslims. in fact, nearly everyone would have good stories to share about the honesty of northern muslims in small scale business when we interact with them. we know they have a short fuse, so we keep our interactions light. but, and this is a very big but, we see the christian dominated countries of ghana, benin, and cameroon and we know we would have had that if the British had not yoked us together with cultures that are alien to us. we would be rich and developed and we sure as hell would have ended any herder-farmer clashes or militia operations in the South. i have seen a video of a dead southern woman that had clearly been anally raped before she was murdered. the animals left her splayed like they were displaying chicken on a rotisserie. in an independent southern nigeria, that incident alone would have ended the presence of herders or militia within 100 mile radius of that community. the killers would have been brought to book. if they were hiding in a forest, we will launch an SMO to kill every last one of them. if they like, let them be aliens from mars. but you did not hear about it. you don't hear about every single accident or death even in southern nigeria committed by elements that we all know have not been adequately pursued by the authorities that is dominated by northern muslims. do you not wonder why three years after, most christians who have commented on this topic keep bringing up deborah while they keep glossing over it. we have no reason or incentive to want to "understand" them better. we've seen enough and it is repulsive. we don't have bandwidth to properly count coffins. the killings should end. one is already too many. how are we in the 21st century when countries are talking about returning to the moon, and we have people scrunching their faces because we did not accurately count every coffin. that one follow for achievement? and what is this irrelevant talk of fulani victims of fulani militias. is evans a muslim? he was a christian kidnapping christians. did we write an open letter to the world to make sure they "uNdErStAnD cOnTeXt aNd NuAnCe". it is as though the northerners are allergic to accountability. we have confraternities, criminals, and paramilitary groups in the south that commit murder. in what year since 1914 have they killed 7000 muslims during peacetime, whether they are from the north or south. it is when we start talking about ending the scourge that they want to introduce completely irrelevant rubbish. let them end the killings. we don't want to report on either the killings of christians or muslims. the political and security nexus of this country revolves around the muslim north. we keep our muslims safe and we don't want or need a plaque for it. a southern muslim from edo or oyo will never fear for his life purely on the basis of his religion anywhere in the south. this is the south that still has its problems. we've had our rivalries. we have crime. we have corruption. we've had fatal boundary clashes and inter-ethnic clashes. the north should end the killings of christians and their own muslim siblings (since they need to be reminded) and stop disturbing us with nonsense. they will raise every useless motion under the sun to avoid looking in the mirror. landlord ask you for rent, you dey tell am mk e learn your genealogy. after all the death, you are waiting for us to end our bias before you act to stop the killings. see talk. as i wake up this morning, i should find news report of northern muslims killed overnight by protected savages to send to relatives so they can be properly informed. na life be that. when in a normal country we would be planning itinerary for an impromptu visit to the sand dunes of yobe or kajaru castle without worrying for our safety -Lord |
