I flew to Nigeria recently on an expired passport and planning to fly again on the same passport.

On arrival, I was asked by immigration;

Immigration: your passport is expired

Me: yes, reason I am back to renew it.

I never got to renew and flew out on my other passport. I will likely renew in Nigeria this year.

Quick question -
Base on this, how were you able to return to base (US)-

Last couple of times I have been in Nigeria, I have used the services of middle men in the 8050 building beside the Atlanta consulate building(paid $400 for Visa).

please in anything you're doing, make sure the NIN is done at the NIMC office. Do not use those agents ooo and do not do any non-appearance at all. God be with you .

Do you have your expired passport? If yes, that is sufficient to travel back to Nigeria with. If no, try to explore the option of an emergency travel certificate.
Simple and straightforward verified answer.

Hello everyone, I have been out of the country for a very long time so my passport is expired.

Last couple of times I have been in Nigeria, I have used the services of middle men in the 8050 building beside the Atlanta consulate building(paid $400 for Visa).
I do not want to use their service anymore due to the fact I gave out my bank account info and a lot of personal info to an entity that is not government agency..

I was able to get into the consulate since Joe Leshi was in charge and the had the Pakistani lady up front.

The current receptionist tries in her own way but they said the consulate does not do NIN, Passport nor Visas, all can be done in the 8050 building that is now charging $20 parking

My sister said Consulate in DC has changed like a miracle, but Atlanta Consulate is an agency of the 8050 building

My last encounter at the OIS building in Holcomb bridge road, the lady said I should go book appointment online for 90 days wait period with no other person in the building being attended to, and there was nothing she can do to expedite my visa application.

My question is can I just buy ticket to Nigeria and go do my NIN and passport in Nigeria with dignity?

This insult we have been experiencing from the Nigerian consulate in Atlanta is too much there is a tent outside full of people/families, and it all looks like refugees trying to get passport or Visa walking between consulate and 8050 building and they still want money orders in this day and age.

Atlanta Consulate needs a renewal operational failure is a culture over there.

This omonile and roadblock toll collector mentality should not persist in our society, the more we find it the harder to get rid of.
I agree with what you said about Atlanta consulate because i have been there before, especially the younger staff, they are nothing more than omonile and even worst off. But there is a woman there who is their boss, she is an Ibo woman, i dont know her name, but she is such a nice woman, if you need your passport urgently, just speak with her, she will help you to fast track it without collecting ANYTHING from you. But you see those younger staff, run away from them. They will charge you $200 per passport to fast tract. I cant wait for this contactless passport to get to USA.

I am considering traveling down to Nigeria to get my Passport renewal done but I hope I won't get stuck in Nigeria. I'm only planning to stay for 2 weeks and I don't know how fast to get that done at the Passport office, Ikoyi.

Lufthansa carry people with expired Passport and the NG government sent a memo to all airline that ply the 9ja route that they can carry anyone with expired 9ja passport to 9ja.

It doesn't hurt to double-check bc Nigerian policies are always inconsistent and the implementations are "with immediate effect"

There's an NIN stand at the Immigration office in Ikoyi. So you can do everything there: passport and NIN.

No need to pay money to anybody.

He can as well get a Transit visa if it's a connecting flight. Or go through Istanbul.

Yes, you can come in with an expired passport. In takes about 4 days and a new passport about 2 weeks or less.
Ok thanks for correcting me
