Nnamdi Kanu Writes Trump Over Alleged Christian Genocide In Nigeria (Photo) by InfoGuru118(op): 1:28pm On Nov 06, 2025
The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has written to United States President, Donald Trump, urging him to launch an independent inquiry into the “state-sponsored genocidal killings” of Christians and Igbo people in Nigeria’s South-East region, Very Nigerian reports.

In the letter dated November 6, 2025, and delivered through the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Kanu, who remains in solitary detention at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters, appealed to Trump to act on his recent declaration that the United States was “prepared to act militarily and cut aid if Nigeria fails to protect its Christian population.”

In the letter also obtained by SaharaReporters, Kanu urged Trump to “launch a U.S.-led independent inquiry into state-sponsored massacres of Judeo-Christians in Eastern Nigeria, with full access to mass graves, military logs, and survivor testimonies.”

Kanu wrote: “I extend warm greetings to you in the name of the Judeo-Christian faith and values we both hold dear.

“Your bold declaration on October 31, 2025, that the United States is ‘prepared to act’ militarily and cut aid if Nigeria fails to protect its Christian population ignited hope in the hearts of millions who have been abandoned by the world."

He added: “You have seen the truth: Christians in Nigeria face an existential threat. I write to you now to reveal that this genocide is not confined to the North; it has metastasized into the Igbo heartland, where Judeo-Christians are being systematically exterminated under the guise of counter-terrorism.”

The IPOB leader cited several incidents which he claimed were evidence of “a hidden genocide” against Judeo-Christians in the South-East, including the 2016 Nkpor and Aba massacres, the 2017 “Operation Python Dance” raid on his Afaraukwu home, and the 2020 Obigbo killings.

Quoting multiple human rights reports, Kanu referenced Amnesty International, the UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions, and Nigerian rights group, the Intersociety.

He noted: “Amnesty International (2016) reported ‘at least 150 peaceful Christian worshippers killed, bodies dumped in rivers.’ UN Special Rapporteur Agnès Callamard confirmed that at least 60 were killed and over 70 injured in St. Edmund’s Catholic Church during prayers.”

He further alleged: “This was not a clash. It was a massacre of worshippers commemorating their fallen.

“In Aba, 22 were killed on-site, and 13 bodies were exhumed from a borrow pit. Children were executed for singing ‘Sweet Jesus.’”

According to Kanu, these attacks were perpetrated by Nigerian military forces under the command of then-Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai.

“In 2021, President Buhari appointed him Ambassador to Benin, granting him diplomatic immunity to evade ICC prosecution,” Kanu said, calling it “state-sponsored impunity on a genocidal scale.”

The letter also recounted Kanu’s personal ordeal since 2015, claiming that he has survived four assassination attempts and was “forcibly abducted from Kenya in an extraordinary rendition operation” on June 20, 2021, an act a Kenyan High Court later ruled illegal.

Kanu reminded Trump that the Nigerian Court of Appeal had discharged and acquitted him in October 2022, but that “the government defied its own judiciary, refusing to release me as ordered.”

He continued: “I was never released, so there was no re-arrest, only continued unlawful imprisonment in blatant violation of the constitutionally protected double jeopardy safeguards.”

Citing the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Kanu said his imprisonment had been declared “arbitrary, unlawful, politically motivated.”

He described his continued detention as “a state capture of the rule of law to silence a Judeo-Christian voice.”

Kanu urged Trump to “launch a U.S.-led independent inquiry into state-sponsored massacres of Judeo-Christians in Eastern Nigeria, with full access to mass graves, military logs, and survivor testimonies.”

He also called for “emergency Congressional hearings on the Igbo Christian genocide” and the imposition of Magnitsky Act sanctions on top Nigerian officials, including former Army Chief Buratai and former DSS Director-General, Yusuf Bichi.

He further appealed for U.S. support for “an internationally-supervised referendum on self-determination for the Igbo people,” describing it as “the only peaceful path to ending this circle of violence.”

Kanu stressed, “Mr. President, history will judge us by what we do when genocide knocks.

“You have the power to stop a second Rwanda in Africa. One tweet, one sanction, one inquiry could save millions.”

He signed off as “Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu, Leader, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Prisoner of Conscience – DSS Custody, Abuja,” emphasizing that he remains committed to non-violence and faith: “We seek only justice, truth, and freedom, even from a prison cell.

“May the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob grant you wisdom and courage to deliver His people once again.”

Re: Nnamdi Kanu Writes Trump Over Alleged Christian Genocide In Nigeria (Photo) by Nobody:
Very well articulated. I have never seen Nigeria as a country.

There are so many indices proving this. Under the current dispensation, Nigeria is akin to a failed state.

Nigeria is not religiously free and religious wickedness is at the core of her major problems. One religion sees itself as dominant of the other. They are hellbent on subjugating others. They value and cherish their religion before humanity. They even went the wicked extent of registering Nigeria as an Islamic country while listing Lagos as an Islamic city.

Everything Nnamdi Kanu said is akin to some great essays I have written to Mr President. I have always been worried about this MUSLIM-MUSLIM TICKET in a religiously polarised country like Nigeria.

Recently, I saw a thread where Bola Tinubu said;

"The portrayal of Nigeria as religiously intolerant “does not reflect our national reality,” noting that religious freedom and tolerance “have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so."

Mr President, I some questions for you.

(1) If Nigeria is "religiously free and tolerating", as you falsely claim; why did you choose a MUSLIM-MUSLIM TICKET to run for presidency?

Knowing that Nigeria as a country is greatly divided along religious lines?

Mr President, Are you not aware that such actions will greatly embolden Muslim jihadists to operate with impunity? People who believe that other religions are sub humans Can't you see what these people have done to Southern Christians over the years? Mr President, do I need to show you pictures of Agatu? Should I upload Yelwata pictures?

(2) Mr President, are you not aware that your actions of running with a MUSLIM-MUSLIM TICKET smirks of great disdain for the large Christian population of Nigeria?

Is it because you think CHRISTIANS ARE WEAK and can't react? Mr President, this is largely false.

Mr President, never you forget that we are humans first before religion. At the core of every human being are same attributes that almost every humans possess. Attributes like Wickedness, Evil and Brutality.

Some people can decide to drop their religion in favour of their brute humanity. But they chose not to. Because, a particular religion that preaches "Love of Thy Neighbour" forbids us to do that.

This right here is the difference between some major religions in the world.

While ONE RELIGION advocates embracing THE LIGHT and turning away from THE DARKNESS, another religion sees DARKNESS as an instrument of FEAR, OPPRESSION and REPRESSION.

In the picture below, Lagos city that is largely multicultural and has a Christian population far above the Muslim population is listed as one of the cities of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Good one from Kanu... Tinubu is a disgrace, a president who showed less action while Christians are been killed. He is busy about re-election into office.

He brought Nigerians hardship all the while, yet all the useless governors are with him for selfish means. May we never have a president like Tinubu ever again in Nigeria.

Tinubu’s problem is himself

Tinubu’s greatest political undoing is himself

Tinubu’s ideology is founded on a selfish foundation

Tinubu’s government is made up of people that have 60% characteristics that he possesses and they’re power hungry and they’re like their master they don’t tell him the truth because he doesn’t like to hear it

Tinubu’s defence always lingers around propaganda

Tinubu is not different from any Nigerian politician

Tinubu’s greatest undoing is the fact that Democrats are not currently in power here in America, if not he would’ve had Democrats backing him up…the US wouldn’t have threatened him.

For those who still say there is no genocide...

Imagine if the tables were turned and some "Christian Extremists" in the South, are attacking & burning down Mosques as well as Churches that don't accept their Extremist Doctrines.

By now Muric would have been screaming that Islam is suffering persecutiions in the South & the entire North would have erupted in protests, with churches & business burnt down.

Re: Nnamdi Kanu Writes Trump Over Alleged Christian Genocide In Nigeria (Photo) by NaijaRoyalty(m): 1:51pm On Nov 06, 2025
I really don't get it....

The Nigerian government, along with some Nigerians, has labelled IPOB as a terrorist group.

But now that the U.S. military is preparing to step into Nigeria to fight terrorism, it’s surprising to see that only IPOB members and Ndigbo are happy and welcoming their arrival.

Meanwhile, the same government and other Nigerians who called IPOB “terrorists” are suddenly against America coming to fight these supposed terrorists.

So it leaves an ordinary person wondering:

What's actually happening?
Who are the real terrorists in this story?

Yes, everyone should lend their voices to this matter.

helinues:
The recent attack in Kwara, which majority religion faith reside in the state? Are they targeted too as christianization
There are suicides, genocides, random killings and also Christian killings. The existence of one of these did not mean the inexistence of the other. All these things are happening in Nigeria. Some sects kill Christians alone either through using blasphemy as excuse or targeting churches. Another sect kills anyone at all. Some people commit suicides. Some are after tribalistic killings. None of these erases the existence of the other.

Is there genocide? Yes
Is there ritual killing? Yes
Is there suicide? Yes
Is there CHRISTIAN KILLING? YES

Mind you, I'm neither a Christian nor a Muslim. I am irreligious
Re: Nnamdi Kanu Writes Trump Over Alleged Christian Genocide In Nigeria (Photo) by MT:
He (Kanu) is the number 1 culprit and that explains why he’s rotting in jail.

He (Kanu) actually committed genocide of his own people.

Justice will start from him when he is eventually sentenced to death by hanging or life imprisonment.

Hope he included the Awkuzu killings that occurred under the government of Peter Obi. Trump should also look into the drug dealers in Nigeria because these drugs Alo fuel violence.

IPOB terrorist trying to get attention. Trump can't get him out of Nigerian prison.
The Nigerian judicial system will determine his guilt. Trump can't do jack about it.

It is only Agbadorians and terrorists sympathizers that would still support the genocide going on in Nigeria by the futa jalon terrorists.
Despite the fact that it is also happening right in their backyard (kwara state).

If you listened to MNK broadcast on radio Biafra many years ago, he painted the image of the genocide by Fulani Jihadists and marauders, you will know this man has knowledge and information.
He stated the Fulanis takeover of the Hausas. The stories have become reality today.
