29 PDP States Chairmen Back Damagum, Affirm Ibadan National Convention by etokhana(op): 1:59pm On Nov 07, 2025
November 6, 2025

PRESS STATEMENT

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE CRUCIAL MEETING OF THE FORUM OF PDP STATE CHAIRMEN HELD ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2025

The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convened a crucial meeting today, Thursday, November 6, 2025, with twenty-nine (29) State Chairmen in attendance.

After exhaustive deliberations on key issues affecting the Party, the Forum reached the following resolutions:

1. Total Support for the National Leadership:

The Forum unequivocally reaffirms its total support, confidence, and loyalty to the National Chairman of our great Party, Ambassador Umar Damagun, and the entire National Working Committee (NWC).

2. Commendation of the Judiciary:
The Forum applauds the courageous and well considered judgment delivered by Hon. Justice Akintola, which has paved the way for the conduct of the forthcoming National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

3. Preparation for the Convention:

The Forum urges all delegates, as duly recognized and provided for in the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), to begin preparations in earnest to participate in the convention and to elect credible, competent, and loyal men and women into the National Working Committee.

4. Acknowledgment of Leadership Synergy:

The Forum commends the effective and collaborative leadership being provided by the National Working Committee under Ambassador Umar Damagun, the PDP Governors’ Forum under His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees (BOT) under His Excellency Senator Adolphus Wabara. The Forum notes that this synergy has contributed immensely to stabilizing and repositioning the Party.

5. Reinforcement of Party Discipline:

The Forum emphasizes the critical importance of discipline within the Party and calls on all State Chapters not to hesitate in invoking the relevant provisions of the Party Constitution to discipline erring members whose conduct undermines unity, cohesion, and the collective interest of the PDP.

6. Commitment to Party Unity and Victory:

The Forum reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the unity, progress, and electoral success of the PDP across all levels and pledges to continue working closely with the National leadership to strengthen internal democracy and rebuild public confidence in the Party.

The forum in the same vein dissociates itself from the purported Abdurahman leadership and wants to categorically say that the PDP has only one National Chairman, His Excellency Umar Damagun.

It is to reaffirm this solidarity that our colleagues from North Central are with us here in support of all organs of the PDP

SIGNED:

Tony Aziegbemi,
Edo State Chairman/ Chairman Forum of PDP State Chairmen

Edward Mashal
Kaduna State Chairman/ Secretary Forum of PDP State Chair

Courts in Nigeria are some of the most useless institutions I've ever seen.

If it is possible, we should totally scrap all courts from the Supreme Court to the Customary Courts because they are totally irrelevant.

People get judgements from courts like buying tomatoes in the markets.
There is absolutely no logic to their operations.

For this PDP convention to hold, a high court in Oyo State delivered a favourable judgement.
Well it is no coincidence that the personality involved in the dispute is the Governor of Oyo State.
It is similar to what occured during EFCC vs Yahaya Bello saga.

On the same day two high courts issued conflicting judgement. One in Kogi, the other in Abuja.

If you study the judiciary in Nigeria, you will notice when two political heavyweights are fighting, the courts in their state are always used to issue stupid judgements in favour of either of them.

So obviously there is no objectivity in those court judgements.

It's just pure politics

The major problem of PDP at the moment is PDP. A party that is afraid to discipline it's members is not a serious party.

Wike lobbied PDP committee to be Atiku’s running mate – Ex-gov’ship aspirant

Thu, 29 Sep 2022 14:33:04 WAT

Muazu Magaji, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State, has alleged that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, lobbied members of the party’s committee constituted to advise the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on the choice of his running mate.

Magaji disclosed this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, on Thursday.

The Kano politician also argued that there was no proof that Atiku promised Wike the vice president position as claimed.

The PDP committee had recommended the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and Wike.

The committee, however, scored Wike above the other two contenders but Atiku decided to settle for Okowa. A decision that has since unsettled Wike’s camp.

Magaji, however, claimed that Wike lobbied to be scored ahead of others, adding that the Rivers State governor should not be trusted with important positions in the country.

2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

Says a man who hijacked the party and singlehandedly produced the last 4 National Chairmen of the party for his own selfishness.

Says a man who accepted nomination to be running mate to Fulani Atiku.
He knew it was injustice to give Atiku the ticket yet he lobbied to be the VP.
grin grin

He knew the party had to go South for the 2023 election, yet he still put Secondus as National Chaiman just to hijack the party..
Only to push Secondus out because he wanted the ticket 2023.

This man remains the biggest problem of PDP.

He can only deceive and fool his minions, not reasonable people.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

The "Fee Dee Fee" is currently at crossroads of whether to be or not to be.

This 29 state chairmen are like the usual rented crowds quickly mobilized to burnish the image of the party and its alleged suspended national leaders.

The Wike camp are waiting to ambush them in the eleventh hour.

However which way the pendulum swings, it promises to be a blockbuster movie.

Fayose & Wike Have Brought Shame To PDP – Ali Sheriff

PDP national chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff gave a statement after his Victory at the appeal court. He said he will restructure the party in such a way that Governors Ayo Fayose and Nyesom Wike cannot contain because they have brought “shame” to the party.

Read what he said below:

“I will engineer a restructuring of the PDP such that characters like Wike and Fayose cannot find a way through to attain any position of prominence in our party in the future. They have brought shame and agony through the application of their crude and godless politics which is at variance with the principles upon which our founding fathers built our great party.
