Trump should collaborate with the Nigerian government to combat terrorism, banditry , and mass killings rather than launching a full-scale invasion which may attract other international interests and worsen the fragile peace of the country. Military intervention should only be considered if the Nigerian government refuses to collaborate with Trump in a view to ending insecurity and mass killings in Nigeria. |

Orlandoo:There are situations where partnership with China can be very beneficial while partnership with the US becomes a loss, and there situations where partnership with US becomes beneficial while partnership with China becomes a loss. Its important to maintain relationship with both China and the US so that whatever you can't get from the US you may get it from China. And whatever you can't get from China you may get it from the US. |

Chinese are doing lots of evils behind the scenes. There are into oil bunkering in Niger delta and supplying of arms to militants. In the north, they are the ones funding Boko Haram and bandits and are fully involved in illegal mining. |

6 Almunjid:You don't seem to understand that there are Sharia criminal laws, as well as Sharia civil laws. Sharia civil laws are permitted by Nigeria's constitution, whereas Sharia criminal laws are not permitted by Nigeria's constitution. Sharia criminal laws include stoning blasphemous persons to death, stoning women to death for adultery etc.. |

discusant:The 1999 constitutional changes allowed for the states to expand the scope of Sharia law through state legislation. The implementation of Sharia criminal laws is a powerful symbol of regional autonomy and religious identity for northern states. |

Almunjid:Nigeria's Constitution supercedes any state laws. Why did former President Buhari's Chief Justice of Nigeria request for sharia criminal laws be included in the constitution, if your vague opinion that the constitution allows for states to expand the scope of Sharia laws beyond what the constitution allows? Mind you, if your notion of the constitution allows states to legislate on what the constitution did not provide for is allowed, don't be surprised any day the oil producing areas start to make laws stating that the crude oil and gas in and near their territories are solely theirs to exploit. |

discusant:An excerpt from Wikipedia article titled "Sharia in Nigeria" (the first 6 lines): "In Nigeria, Sharia has been instituted as a main body of civil and criminal law in twelve Muslim-majority states since 1999, when then-Zamfara State governor Ahmad Sani Yerima began the push for the institution of Sharia at the state level of government..." An Excerpt from Google's AI Overview: "...It applies primarily to Muslims in personal and family matters, but since 1999, twelve northern states have incorporated it into their criminal legislation, allowing Sharia courts jurisdiction over both criminal and civil cases within their specific domains..." Peace! |
