Who dash you Igbo?

Do you know how much the government makes from import duties?
Do you know the number of importers from southeast that contribute to import duties?
Elementary economics teaches us that importation kills an economy and exportation improves the economy. I'm shocked that people who attended universities (I could be wrong about this) are bragging about importation in 2025.

If one government comes in power and blocks the importation of certain commodities and items, you will say that you are being targeted and victimized. If you like learn. If you like keep arguing baselessly.

What I did in the comment you quoted is called constructive criticism.

This is not a classroom were everyone is restricted to question and answer, besides in objective questions such as this, answers like this are accepted since they are in line with the subject (Southeast & economy) what gibberish are you yapping in the name of countering an obvious fact. even if he drops two pages statistics/data it can never be enough for critics. It doesn't matter which part you are from. As for me I enjoyed his writeups.
reaseon; it opens doors for researchers to explore.
You enjoyed reading it because you don't know how to answer questions and don't want to learn either. You just need points that validate and reinforce the hurt you bear. It's your call!

You meant petty trade business.

Why is no ibo man listed on Forbes top 1,000 in Africa?

Why is there no ibo business dynasty like that of Dantata, Ibru ?

Be doing lizard pressups.
The biggest contributors in economy anywhere in the world are the so-called petty traders, including the United States.

Igbos don't have to be on Forbes because our wealth is spread across our people, not one Alhaji acquiring everything and giving others peanuts as seen in the South West and North.

In fact, most of the wealthy folks in the SW and north are people who became wealthy from corrupt government financing. No Nigerian will ever be poor if they can get the kinds of support that those folks enjoy from the government.

That's why the north and SW wouldn't mind playing politics with their people's lives just to hold key positions in government because they largely depend on government largasse to thrive.

Spare me babablu.

How much has the government generated from import duties?

Which region leads in poverty?

You don't need to attend nursery school to know that poverty and lack of economic activites are intertwined.

Don't mind him. Their region, for example, contribute one of the lowest VAT of any Nigerian region yet collect the heaviest from the central pot.

I could give ten examples of their parasitism on the rest of Nigeria that shows the poster you responded to, and most of his ethnic kinsmen, are delusional and brainwashed with tales from infancy of how great they are and how they are "developers" and saviours of others.

No greater empty barrel on earth than those lot.
Your obsession with VAT is that all companies have their head offices in Lagos even though their major operational bases are in SS and SE. They paid VAT from their head offices while they use others for extracting raw materials.

Imo State, for instance, has 7 major oil companies and all of them have head offices in Lagos and Abuja..not one has a kiosk in Owerri. Wait until this country is restructured. We will give them terms and conditions for extracting oil and gas from our state. For now, Lagos can be enjoying the VAT while laptop boys are all over social media insulting us.

OK carry your petty trade to Biafra.

We no want.

We will be buying directly via online from Temu and Alibaba.

Thanks.

Others have explored outside Nigeria, you guys are just catching up. In Ghana for example the Yoruba's started the spare part business decades ago

Just because others don't make noise with their presence at somewhere don't mean they are not there
Read below.

There isn't a single "founder" of the spare parts pbusiness in Ghana; rather, it's a sector that evolved organically through various individuals and businesses, with Kofi Abban noted for his early ventures in the petroleum industry, which often includes spare parts distribution, and Richard Nii-Armah Quaye being a prominent, modern entrepreneur in the broader automotive and heavy-duty machinery sector, which relies heavily on spare parts.

Show me where they mentioned yoruba here above.

This is 2025, e-commerce has rendered 2by2 inconsequential. You no longer need a 2by2 to sell your products. You also don't have to go to Alaba to have your order can order delivered at your door step.

So why are they still in business? Why hasn't Alaba International Market or Computer Village shut down since they are no longer relevant?

Do you know even know how the so-called e-commerce platforms like Jumia work? I'm done lecturering laptop boys. You have to pay for that knowledge...I need money in this agbado economy

Guy, you need both Education and exposure. There will always be physical structures or market to display your goods or wares but what has been revolutionized is how internet has helped expand the reach to millions of clients at a go. You can reach lots of followers or prospective consumers from all walks of life on e-commerce than sitting down at Alaba market waiting for costumers to walk in. And if you're not aware, the 2by2 traders have seen a great reduction in customers patronage. This has forced some of them to embrace the new trend and having presence online, unfortunately, lots of them are illiterates who are not internet savvy hence they still operate the old system of selling their goods. Receive sense!

Funny that this question is coming from a Hausa lady. But since she is dumb, it might help her to know that while the Hausa and Yoruba choose to focus on politics, the Igbo largely control Nigeria's commercial and economic life. This cannot be overstated.
Wetin concern Yoruba for this matter now? Can't you just face the Hausa lady without involving Yorubas?

Help me sent it to her that
1. Igbos are one of the most intelligent species of humans on earth today. We have proven that outside Nigeria.
The best asset to any nation is the human capital. Israel is an example.

2. We have oil too and if properly used can help the economy of the region. From Imo to Abia down to Anambra there is oil.

3. And the BIG ONE IS HUGE GAS DEPOSIT ( the future of energy). We have 70% of Nigeria's 210 trillion ctf reserve gas deposit.

4. A rare mineral Astatinite. Very huge deposit in Amaigbo, lmo State valued at about 900 billion dollars.

5. Our ladies are great. That's why you find them married from SS to SW , North to Middle Belt.

I rest my case

There's no sense to receive because you aren't making any of it.

Many years ago, if you went to Idumota market, you would see many stores selling DVD disks. Today, if you go to the same market, you would hardly see them because everything has gone digital. If those guys who have those physical stores don't make money, nobody would be opening such stores.

FYI, many people still prefer buying from those they see and know than buying online and dealing with what was ordered Vs what was received. Besides, many items you buy on e-commerce stores in Nigeria come from those guys.

Igbos are mostly petty traders who would not be able to lace Yorubas shoe laces when talking about businesses and industries.
Yoruba s do not only dominate industries in Nigeria but as Nigerians in foreign countries too.
Petty trading is what every Dick and Harry can do but businesses are for the sophisticated.

If you don't know, the president of Nigeria can send a bill to the national assembly and get his APC-led houses to pass it if he's serious about restructuring.

Go and thank your stars for the new Nairaland. If not, my response would've been brutal. This moniker has no chill for data boys.

You're agreeing with me on one hand but struggling to defend your point on the other hand.
If I have a shop in my street, I have to keep it open to customers in my locality to walk in and patronize me. However, I can reach many clients beyond my street if I put my products or services online. I can import shoes, put them online and people place their orders. That doesn't stop people from patronizing shoe markets close to them but I will have gained wider audience and earned more. I can even buy from a local store and earn more selling online.
I thought you said you went to school?, why are you struggling with common knowledge?
