rhazur:There could be multiple causes. I would start by checking fuses and relays linked to the o2 sensor and I think the VVT/VTEC solenoid (Don't quote me on the solenoid, I am not sure. But I am sure about the o2 sensor) ? If the fuses and relay are fine, I would check wiring and follow testing procedure in the workshop manual, and test connection between the sensor/solenoid connectors and the ECU . Its hard the first few times you do it, but trust me its very very rewarding, at least for me it was. For me I discovered the under-dash relay port for the A/F sensor (Oxygen sensor) , one of the port where you plug the relay into had a broken terminal electrode . So I had to do some wiring manually (Please don't try this except you are sure you know what you are doing, you could fry something or worse set your car on fire- not trying to scare you, but its a fact) . You need to know how to use a multi-meter, its one of the most important tools for diagnosis. I am not saying this is the issue you are facing , but its possible. You could also have a broken wire somewhere. Its also possible the sensor is clogged with carbon deposit, you can remove it and use carb cleaner , or fuel (If you want to use fuel, its very very important you allow it dry for some hours, so you don't short-circuit the sensor internally) If all fails , after proper wiring, fuse, relay testing and sensor/solenoid cleaning.. you could probably have a bad/failing sensor/solenoid. |

Pls help me o. My eod, 2005 dey show me shege. It all starts while driving, the car suddenly went off, I tried restarting no way. I scanned it and brought cam shaft position sensor code. I called rewire, he changed sensor and started the car. It worked for few minutes and off again and didn't come up. Rewire suggested mechanic check camshaft and timing chain. Mechanic replaced timing chain and camshaft with adjuster. Car start buy it didn't sound smoothly and latter off after few seconds. If the car goes off, it won't come up again. Since then , no solution. Pls help me ooooo |

Bola4boy:Sorry about this painful experience. But why not scan the car first to get a headway on what might be wrong, instead of throwing in parts based on guesses. From the way the car stays on and goes off afterwards, a lot of issues can cause that engine behavior that's why you need to run a scan to point you in the right direction, so you don't end up messing up the engine badly |

My car has been giving me nightmares for the last 3 days now. I drove it to church on Sunday, it was moving very well, no problem at all, the only code prior was the camshaft sensor code which I planned to change sometime next month when I go to the mainland, so after getting to church, parked and after service, I came to the car tried starting, it refused to start, noticed the battery went completely flat as there were no lights on the dashboard, so I decided to try another battery but it still didn't start up, it was cranking but never starts, it just cranks and the stops like something is holding the pulley back, so I just parked it in church and returned the next day with a mechanic who checked everything and said he couldn't find a problem, we called a rewire who checked and found no problem too, he checked the dashboard and discovered the key light wasn't going off, it kept blinking, he suggested we called key programmers and they came and did their thing, key blinking light went away, but still no start, until he decided to check the ECU and that was when he discovered that the AC water exit hose was blocked and was draining water into the ECU, wahala! The brainbox was literally filled with water when it was removed, it was cleaned with clutch cleaner but it didn't work, so we got another ECU hoping it's gonna work, after programming and all, car still refused to start, rewire checked the coils and found one bad cool, we replaced it, started the car again and it still refused to start, checked all fuses, everything was working fine, at this point, I Don taya, it has actually never given me this level of problems before, it has never stopped me on the road, so this one is kinda strange, please does anyone have a suggestion? It's an 06 accord. |

Cutezt:I’ll suggest confirming if the check engine light comes on when the car is on ignition, and also confirm that the particular Ecu is compatible with yours via part number |

Good afternoon to all the car Gurus here. I drive a 2008 honda (evil spirit 2 doors) and the current issue is that the car is not moving well on a high terrain. It does the same while on reverse gear. When I try to forcefully accelerate, the engine will want to go off. My mechanic advised that I should change the gear and I did. Unfortunately, the problem still persists after the gear replacement. What could be the problem my dear gurus in the house? |

Hello Everyone, first time here. Please my Honda city keeps shorting oil even when I've changed oil seal and PCV valve. Now I'm thinking of using a 5w40 oil next. Please I'd like to know what is the best oil to use? |
| Re: The HONDA Club by Cryomancer(op): 7:07pm On Nov 26, 2025 |
Fancy4:I don't advise changing your oil type yet. First scan to see if it throws any code because various issues causes engine oil shortage and majority of it is a sign of the final stage of engine life. |

After solving the P2649 issue by changing the Rocker Arm Actuator, the check engine light went off. Just after 2days, I realized the check engine come on again. On Scanning I got this...... Any idea ? rhazur:

| Re: The HONDA Club by Cryomancer(op): 12:03pm On Nov 28, 2025 |
rhazur:p0134: you may need to change the 02 Sensor on your exhaust manifold, as the scan shows it's defecting no activity. First inspect around it to be sure there is no corossion or broken wires before changing it. P0172/p0175: Your Air/Fuel sensor is giving this code. But I'll suggest you fix the 02 Sensor issue first then drive around for few days and scan again to be sure the 02 Sensor is not also the reason for these codes. I once experienced this code after my 02 Sensor also failed and it went away after changing the 02 Sensor. P0128: check your ECT sensor to be sure it's in good condition. P0430: be like say your motor no get catalysts oo. Have you confirmed there is a catalyst? I hope all these helps to point you in the right direction. Good. Luck |

There's no check engine code or light and i don't see any blue smoke when revved. All i see for now is black smoke and i was advised to change my upstream o2 sensor..i change my oil every 3000km but as I'm typing this I'm on 2300km and i have used up 6 liters of oil. ☹️ Cryomancer: |
| Re: The HONDA Club by Cryomancer(op): 2:42pm On Nov 30, 2025 |
Fancy4:Mehn.... I don't see how changing your 02 sensor relates to the oil burn issue because you're likely having both oil and too much fuel being burned during combustion, and a worn piston might be the major culprit here. Have a good engineer inspect the valve seals, PCV Valve, fuel injectors and your cylinder/cylinder walls. One of it might be the culprit here since you claim there is no code after your scan. Like I said earlier, your engine might be at its final stage of life, just start saving up for a new engine at worst. |

Has anyone DIY fixed a ball joint of a 7th (2006) gen Honda Accord .? I don't want to use the Nigerian mechanic method of slamming it with a hammer, it makes the ball joint fail prematurely I am thinking of buying a C/G clamp, the regular ones used by carpenters/welders, I am unsure if it would have enough force to press it in ... The tool for pressing ball joints is quite expensive to buy. Or is there any service that rents such tool out ? I would appreciate any pointers . Thank you . |

| Re: The HONDA Club by Cryomancer(op): 9:40am On Dec 01, 2025 |
Donald3d:The C/G clamp if I remember correctly has just one side. What you need for the ball joint is two mouthed clamp. I've once seen a locally constructed clamp for working on ball joint but I didn't ask where it was construed or gotten from. You can visit ladipo market if you're in Lagos, they sell some locally constructed tools for working on cars, you might be lucky to find one for ball joints. I hope this helps |
