Do degrees really make great leaders? Or do vision, grit, and character matter more than any certificate?
From PhDs to high-school diplomas… and even some without completed degrees, the world’s most powerful decision-makers come from wildly different academic paths.
So here’s the real question: Would you choose a leader based on qualifications or performance? And where does Nigeria’s leadership fit into this global pattern? 🇳🇬

Brazil's leader has the equivalent of a primary school leaving certificate, and two years of secondary school, plus self education via reading a lot of books.

Interesting man, Luiz Inacio Lula da SIlva.

I don't support tinubu, always regarded him as cunny man, but his accounting degree is genuine.

Otherwise, he won't have been able to work for the companies he worked for in the 1980's.

You guys should stop with the lies...there are a hundred and one other good reasons why tinubu is unfit to be president.

What about Cameroon President
Biya's got a diploma(today it would be the equivalent of OND or HND here) from what used to be the Ecole Colonial (a school for training future leaders in the French colonies...the first black colonial governor Eboue [who was also a Resistance fighter in world war 2 with the free French], of what became Chad, Cameroon, CAR and Gabon was an alummus of the school).

Before you start laughing...back in his day very few Africans got a university education, talkless of even a tertiary education. The concept of mass university education did not take off till the eightes.

(No, I am not a fan of Biya by the way)

Nigeria president is one of the most intelligent presidents on the surface of the earth .

You may hate him but that will not take away the fact that he is a guru and know how to manage both financial and human resources.

He needs more time to make things good if we are all patient .

Remember our grandparents also protested of hardship back then despite having good leaders and things were not yet bad to this extent. A dollar to naira then was as low as $1=#25 yet they called the government out for bad governance.

As a yoruba man ,i want Obi tested and you will all understand that the complaints will never stop

This means that human cant be satisfied regardless.

This leaves me to conclusion that as far as there are opposition parties, there will be gnashing of teeth and complaints/protests

Peter Obi.... 3rd Class (MiraKuru Center) + GCE. Republic of B-Something grin grin grin
Obi went to UNN...

Even assuming he had a third class...back in the day, a third class was quite an achievement, especially when it was a tiny minority of students from secondary school who ended up in university

(People who got third class back then often times ended up in the Civil service,as senior cadre, with automatic employment guaranteed).

Just to note that entering secondary school under the old O and A level system was hard. Nothing like five credits at o level...you had to do better than that to get into a levels...or go to teacher training college, or join the armed forces or paramillitary like customs, and civil defence, or something, or join the civil service at lower level. A levels too..you had to pass them very well to even get into university...nothing like three c's. JAMB was added in 1977, another layer to pass.

Anyone entering university was considered to be very smart back then...you were the best of the best of your secondary school...until 6334 came in and it became an all comers game sort of.

No, I don;t think obi was spectacular.

P.S...According to my mother, if your A level was good enough back then, you could even go to a British university from Nigeria! Food for thought. cheesy

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, holds the following educational qualifications from prestigious institutions:

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), completed in 1975 (in an accelerated timeframe of about 2.5 years while taking a double course load and pausing for military service during the Yom Kippur War).

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management Studies (also referred to as Business Management) from the MIT Sloan School of Management, completed in 1976.

He also studied political science at both MIT and Harvard University, taking additional courses at Harvard while at MIT. Netanyahu began work toward a second master's degree in architecture at MIT (completing about a quarter of a thesis) and was admitted to a doctoral program in political science, but he did not complete these advanced degrees, leaving in 1976 following his brother's death in the Entebbe raid

Yes, because oil money, the basis of our income, its price no dey favour us.

Our tax to gdp is too low to even fund the budget as it is.

That;s why we borrow...even upon all the taxes, most nigerians that are eligible do not pay tax to federal or state governments.

Still blame APC, they came in singing diversification, nothing done. But right now, no use crying over spilt milk. Either more people pay tax, or we eventually end up like Sri Lanka, having to accept loans from IMF in return for massive job and spending cuts.

Nigeria made it to this list? Thank God. But I hear say presido finish secondary school even when the said school was yet to exist. Na true?
So what's wrong in 1970s? to study under the tree or in the classroom with or without clothes on without shoes is not a crime. Just be educated anyway anyhow is the goal. even up till today you can study on your own and seat for GCE without attending any secondary school. So, how do you fact check your claim.

Buhari is more educated than the current president of Brazil...who is not on the list too. That one has primary school, plus two years of secondary school.

Everybody in Nigeria pays tax directly or indirectly. Most goods and services are taxed here. The minimum wage is too poor for such taxation policies

Is it the same thing in other countries, are things getting worse and worse every year. Please don't take it as normal that things should get worse every year. Are things getting worse in other countries like Nigeria?
