Thousands of residents of Ibadan, in Oyo State, are currently protesting over alleged plans by the state government to acquire more lands for Ibadan circular road corridor.

The residents have blocked some major roads in the ancient city.

DAILY POST reports that the idea of Ibadan circular road was conceived when the current Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja was the governor of the state.
It was learnt that Ladoja marked 150 metres for the construction of the road, however, the current governor, Seyi Makinde is planning to extend the number of metres for the circular road corridor, which will affect more houses and community lands.Our correspondent reports that the protesting residents, who are from Ido, Lagelu, Ona Ara, Akinyele, Oluyole and Egbeda, want the state government to maintain the 150 metres already marked by Ladoja.

The group of protesters, currently on Iwo Road, have blocked access in and out of the area, which is one of the major roads in Ibadan.

The blockage of the road has caused serious traffic jam in that area.

A group of protesters are also at the entrance of Agodi government secretariat.

The residents armed themselves with different kinds of placards.

Why are they protesting? They are not ashamed of themselves. The problem is that most of them don't travel. They don't see the insult on Social Media. They should travel to South East and South South. They should travel to Kano and see things for themselves.

Some years back, Prophet DK Olukoya of MFM was preaching about SPIRITUAL Battles. He mentioned many things. He now spoke about problems associated with backgrounds and environment. He said there is a City, a prominent city, he said all the States created out of the City and other States created later are moving forward but the city development remain stagnated. My mind immediately went to IBADAN.

Seyi Makinde Wife is from Rivers State. If those people protesting travel to ONITSHA, ABA to see the courage of the IGBOS and visit Uyo they will return back to their houses. I was at Uyo in 1987. Uyo was like a Village compared to South West standard of that time. Only ABA Road was the major road in Portharcourt . Douglas & Wetheral are the only modern roads in Owerri. Now, those Cities are modern cities. Few months ago I went to Airport from Gate using old Ife Road, Sawmill, Alakia. I was very proud of Makinde as an Engineer.

Ladoja was a governor 2003 - 2007. These people want road designed 18 years ago to be left the same way by an Engineer Governor. That is not possible. Houses were destroyed to build Adamasingba Stadium.

He's now confiscating and selling any land in sight, including areas reserved for their ecological significance. Oyo don buy market.

The Oyo State Water Corporation announced at the weekend that it has restored water supply to residents in some parts of the state after many years of service disruption due to technical challenges faced by the corporation.

The corporation disclosed that repairs of leakages and bursts in other water pipelines located within the state are ongoing.

A statement issued by the corporation’s Chairman, Elias Adeojo, stated that operations had since commenced at major waterworks and booster stations to complement the water supply to Ibadan and its environs.

Adeojo noted that the water supply had been restored to Molete, Bode, Labiran, Beyeruka, the Eleyele axis, and Bashorun-Oluwo Nla, among others.
