I just feel sorry for that soldier now because when he will be redeployed to Sambisa, those hailing him now won't even be aware. His job there was illegal. You all just can't seem to understand that the military is powerless in the face of politicians. The military have to asslick politicians to get things done.

Honestly I am very embarrassed by the Minister of the FCT. He should have just gone back with his entourage and report the refusal to all their superiors instead of engaging in a shouting match with the young, gallant and very brave loyal officer. That Officer Yerima must be commended. He was acting under orders. And no.human being has the right to abuse anyone just because they find themselves in power after all it is our tax that is paying them. They ought to be respectful to us not abusive....just imagine o...what a shame.

Boss as any military officer they will tell you . As long as you are following your superiors orders ,nothing you do is illegal even if your boss actions are illegal. It is your boss that will carry the full responsibility of his orders ,that is why junior officers when they carry out actions based on orders from their superior, they are usually shielded from prosecutions .as long as they were under orders . No military court will punish this officer for acting under orders but if this officers ordered his boys to fire ,he will be held responsible and not the soldiers that carries out his instructions

What the soldier did was wrong.

I know, so I will say this...I am not a tinubu supporter and wike is a awful minister of the fct with corruption all over him

But he is the minister of the fct. And if a soldier is disobeying a minister of the republic, and people are hailing him because tinubu, it shows that people who are in opposition are just as lawless as those in government.

Obey constituted authority

But then again we have a habit in this country of not following the rules and authority. Whether we support tinubu or not. See MC olumo

But the fact that we have a government of essentially bad people does not make yerima action right

Would those praising the lieutenant be doing so if it was an Obi appointee as fct minister? And would those critical of the lieutenant be praising him if obi was president?

We are so blinded by politics that we don't want to do the right thing.

Like I said, if you read this and think I support tinubu, think again. I would say this if it was obi as president or anyone else . If you like , support the lieutenant. Don't complain when you see a bad situation right. Like I always say, apc won't have been in charge if opposition was united.

Before you condem someone actions why don't you fist ask what wike did to be on the law side. Because he is a minister does not give him the right to barge into anyone property. Did wike respect himself ?NO
IF he did the normal thing is to invite the admiral that owns the property,if the man refuses to come then he can report the man to his military authorities and even more to the commander in chief ,you don't just barge into someone property and start constituting a nuisance.
The point is wike is used to dealing with politicians and civilians this way and maybe he thought he could talk to the young officer the same way he usually lambast dino, atiku and other pdp members

Both Lt. A.M Yerima and Wike didn't communicate effectively (or with emotional intelligence). Both of them are guilty to varying degrees of being "egotistic" or not being self-aware in their communication as can be seen in the screenshot and the video.

However, Nyesom Wike is the FCT Minister and should have been accorded that respect by the young military men. He is like a State Governor overseeing the administration of the FCT.

I still remember how the former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji-Fashola got a senior Army officer arrested for using the BRT lane. The officer even had to come out of his vehicle and saluted Babatunde Raji-Fashola in a photograph that went viral online. Period.
I doubt if you aware the same scenario happened to Sanwo Olu and Police officer.

Meanwhile, the 2 scenarios are different, why the senior military officer came on his own to disobey traffic rules, the navy here was posted there by superior officer, it's Wike that was not supposed to be arguing with low ranking officer that far below him, he was supposed to leave the scene or call higher authority to order them to leave the place, but since he is egoistic, he wanted to force his way and he was degraded.
Re: Meet AM Yerima: The Naval Officer Who Challenged Wike Over Abuja Land (Photos) by Lezzlie(m):
The soldier was acting unprofessionally and could be in serious problem, he and whoever gave him that order to take laws into his hand and impede a minster doing his legitimate duty.

The level of ignorance in Nigeria as showcased on Nairaland is sad and unfortunate.

It's not a matter of liking or hating the minister, it is a fact that soldiers are under civilian authority and if they act this way to a minister, ordinary Nigerians like the F.O.OL.s on this thread will be treated like slaves if any army personnel has issues with them.

He should be disciplined immediately for professional misconduct. His behavior was completely disgraceful and unacceptable. In a democracy, the military take orders from the civilian government and not the other way round.
True that.

A lot of the random posters here are rambling on while irresponsibly praising this young Naval officer without realizing that they are encouraging outright indiscipline in the military. It's what Lt. Yerima said that triggered Nyesom Wike who is known for his volatile temperament while the young officer kept on replying him.
BUT the famed, transformer of the FCT (Nyesom Wike) too has to learn to comport himself so that the tables are NOT turned against him by uninformed public opinions and a section of the media whenever he loses his temper.

the soldier is doing what any fool with gun can do. It's unprofessional, it's thuggery and it's the problem with Nigeria.

Wike who put him in his place by asking him in uniform to keep quiet and called him a fool. That's a humiliation and an insult in public he will never ever experience from any civilian until he retires

Nigeria is in problem especially from people like you who don't know or respect constituted authority.

Only civilian all military personnel can obey "bomber to bomber" is President, the remaining civilian must pass through, military authorities if you want them to obey you.

So, in your ignorant assumption, the military officer will disobey his superior and obey Wike, which means, any other person can order military to leave strategic and sensitive place, because minister or gov order them

With Ur belief, the president life and position are in jeopardy.
