The Minister had no business with the officer. He simply needed to get the name of his commanding officer, place a call to the CO or someone higher than him.

Instantly, the soldiers will evacuate the land instead of all this show of drama that shows how the political class insult and demean our law enforcement.

What Wike should have done there is to contact the military top brass. Why don't you ask yourself one question . Wike has a minister has all the contacts of military top hierarchy,if Wike knew he has a case ,why didn't he put a call through to the chief of defence staff or chief of army staff and report the matter to him there ?

Do you understand that the FCT minister is the administrative authority in charge of land in the FCT? Therefore for a soldier not on official duty (the person who sent them there is even retired), to restrict his access to that land when on his own official duty is against the law that creates and empowers Wike's office? In sane climes it is the illegality of the duty that would be the point of conversation. It is an illegal order to use a naval officer to guard an undeveloped land. What manner of wastefulness is that particularly as the nation is battling a plethora of insecurities everywhere. Is guarding an empty land the mandate of a naval officer?
