The military and other security agencies are creatures of constitution and are bound to obey constituted authority where it's needed. Because military has been dabbling into politics through brutal force for many years and mostly in Africa have made us to believe they are above the law.
What constitutional provision has been broken here? Can a minister walk into any property just like that and claim it is 'illegal'? Dont we have due processes? I dont know the CNS and for crying out loud, will he just wake up one day and start building without documents and without permit? If that is the case, dont we have courts?

They're all corrupt here in the saber climed o

But then when you have someone like Tinubu as the president, of course, he has to assemble a damned crew of his likes!

Birds of a feather, they say, ....

It's sad that we encourage lawlessness in this country & expect the country to progress. A commissioned Naval officer has better responsibilities than standing as a security man in an undeveloped property of a former CNS. Soldiers should concentrate on their duties of defending the country from external aggression instead of interrupting pubic officers from during their jobs.
Yes, it may be illegal. The Uniformed officer was simply following orders. And a minister had the mind to call a uniformed officer a big fool in front of the camera? What signals are you sending to these officers and their superiors?

Wike is supposed to know that he has all the legal backings available to him to summon the owner of the property or have his land confiscated but No. He wants to show power.

Don't rejoice yet. I'm very sure that's not the end of the seasons movie. Watch out for part two, Wike will not go down easily just like that.

and the Boy stood up to him, telling Sanwo-Olu he is not a Bloody soldier which Sanwo called him. undecided

If a Soldier can stand up to a State Governor, who is Wike, a mere Appointee? sad sad
^^^
No.

Irresponsible, lawless behaviour should not be encouraged.

That soldier was riding a motorbike against traffic and Sanwo Olu (whom I am not a fan of) and his security people challenged him. Instead of admitting his fault and facing the consequences, the soldier (with the usual sense of entitlement they all seem to have) wanted to claim he was above the law. undecided

Sanwo-olu's fault in the matter was that he was intemperate in his speech (though not as bad as the Wike case in Abuja) when his staff arrested the soldier. What is not open to debate is this: the soldier broke traffic law - and he deserved to be punished.

You are concerned about the wrong things. One of the problems of Nigeria. Go to the root of the issue. The foundation is faulty. You ignore the crux of the matter and start analysing bubbles.
If you had mentioned the supposed crux of the matter.......instead you chose to form an even bigger bubble.

Wike is the validation of the statement that you can't make thugs become classy just by throwing money and titles at them.

No matter how you dress up a monkey, it will still climb trees.

Please everything should not begin and end with politics. When are we going to get it right in this country, a serving military officer doing gateman for a retired senior officer at a time Nigeria need the services of our military men.

Without Nigeria there can't be Nigeria army, Nigeria air force etc

He was wearing the Uniform of a commissioned Nigerian Army/Navy or Airforce.
He introduced himself "Sir I am a commissioned officer and i have my orders from my superior officer":

Thats enough for Wike to talk to him with respect....No excuse whatsoever !!!
Even if the officer was Wike's son...the minute he wears that uniform and identify himself....There is a minimum amount of respect he should accord to him !!!

Wike thought he was talking to Fubara

Wike messed up big time !!! His Ego got the better of him !!!
I will never call any uniformed man a big fool....not because i am not a rich and powerful man.
But because i respect their uniform. This is the Nigerian Army for crying out loud

NO BE MAN O WAR OOOHHHH

What are you expect from an indecorous, thuggish and an unrefined fellow who has an exaggerated sense of importance?

That officer showed respect and gallantry and demonstrated that he could defuse any tense situation.

This is what I have been trying to tell nigerians since that wike was wrong ,he didn't follow due process . He must have thought everyone in Nigeria are dumb like pdp members . When he got to the site and met a military officer ,he should have contacted higher military authorities to prevail on the officer

Not like i am in support of what wike did but do you know that this supposed senior officer that gave the order is retired?
There are many civil ways to have handled the matter. He should have followed the chain of command and either called his boss or the COAS. Despite the provocation insulting the officer is wrong.

Osiata Chidoka is double tongued in all of this and I wonder from which understanding of the law that he brings such into existence.....

Any law enforcement officer, in uniform or plain clothes, represents the President and the sovereignty of the Nigerian state.

If above were true, then it's right to say that all those soldiers killed by bandits in the North, have killed the President and killed the sovereignty of Nigeria. While those who say the bandits are their brothers, father's and uncles are also insinuating that the bandits are right to kill those who they kill and kidnap.

When a minister trades words with a uniformed officer acting under orders

I only begin to wonder on whose orders is the soldier standing on......
Can this be said in well civilized countries like the USA or Osita Chidoka is just trying to be smart and trying to sell such to unlearned and gullible people. What's the difference in what Gumi does with respect to the bandits and this in what Osita is stating.

Is the officer standing on whoever orders now bigger than a Minister appointed by the President!!!!!!!huh??

Re: Osita Chidoka: Wike Should Apologise To The Naval Officer by Fujiyama:
grin

Some of us have started again with this strange, undeserved hero worship of Nigerian soldiers.

The usual talk about 'respect' and 'uniforms' and all that.

People need to remember that Nigerian soldiers are government workers and nothing more. They have a well deserved notoriety for acting with near total impunity - all because they have been indoctrinated to think they are 'superior' to the 'bloody civilians' undecided who share the same country with them. undecided

Don't forget that Minister Wike and Seaman Yerima are two sides of the same coin: they both work for an oppressive, suffocating government power structure that simply isn't fit for purpose.
Re: Osita Chidoka: Wike Should Apologise To The Naval Officer by Mathewrichard99: 11:31pm On Nov 11, 2025
Exactly my thought. Somebody that ought to be doing his job in a security command zone but unfortunately guarding a developing building site like a mere aboki maiguard. An army officer that enjoys our taxes as salary carrying out order from an ex retired officer, where does he anchor his allegiance to? Nigeria or the retired ex officer? He's on illegal duty and has the boldness to be talking back at Wike.....The officer is guilty cos he's on illegal duty.....Army aren't supposed to be used as just an ordinary building site security......very wrong.......He's interfering in the minister's duty and that's very wrong. If Wike had interfererd in their own security work, that would have been a good time for the officer to be hard on Wike but this time, the officer went beyond his duty and cross on to the Minister's duty even though he's carrying out an order which sadly is illegal. The officer should have stepped to a side amf give a call to the retired officer and probably tell him to call the minister cos he can't continue blocking him from accessing the site..... Easy

Wike should apologize so someone obeying an illegal order and stopping the FCT minister from carrying out his legal duties.

Wike should issue a public apology to the Nigerian armed forces.

Its one thing for them to be protecting the looters

Its another thing for the looters to be calling you "Big Fool" to your face.

I hope Tinubu has the wisdom and wise counsel to demand a remorseful public apology from Wike for this singular act.

Wike crossed the red- line when he called a uniform commissioned officer "A Big Fool"

After the Officer had introduced himself and told him he was only taking orders.

That was when Wike crossed the line, Everything else can be forgiven.....But that statement "You are a big fool" I dont know how that Officer took it calmly.

If Tinubu doesn't make Wike apologize to that particular officer publicly. His whole government will be seen as a joke !! He has to step up as commander in Chief and demand Wike to offer a public apology. He has to be made to eat the humble pie. Everybody saw it the whole world saw it, the officers, the retired officers, the veterans, the rank and file....they all saw it. Tinubu has to move quick and move fast.

I commend the training they are giving these officers.
Wow....I gave you credit for more brains than this

Apologise for what? In analysing an issue, I go to the root, instead of dancing around chasing shadows. If the foundation is faulty, nothing will stand.

This fellow is just another charlatan and attention seeker who never speaks the truth. Always looking to score cheap and useless political points.

I want to read about the punishment of the soldier and his superior on this platform, if we are being serious. Enforcing illegality and expecting to be treated with dignity. Are you kidding me?

I support the FCT Minister's actions 100%. Did that soldier have the right to be there and also prevent the Minister's access to the land? How dare he? What are we even talking about in this country? Is this a military regime? What a country.
I pity your condition oooo. Just say because you are politician go and grab military land.
