If the lieutenant's last order came from a vice admiral ,a 3 star general in the navy and a senior colleague to the present CDS, no army chief currently can overrule it. The only person who can overrule his last order is President Ahmed Bola Tinubu who is the commander in chief of the armed forces.

The lieutenant go bounce even the vice principal and senate president join.

This is not the time to infuriate the men in khakhi.
Wike should tread carefully and totally avoid them.
He was uncouth by calling the lieutenant a fool,by extension the military and everything it embodies alongside the nation
Tinubu must replace him if reelected .
And Wike is technically serving on the orders of the President. What happened today was then a rebellion and all the soldiers there should be dismissed from the service.
There's a reason the police are mandated to handle civil law keeping while the army defend the territorial integrity of the country.
The soldiers had no business doing private security work.

You’re missing the point again.

A soldier answers only to his superior officer. The only civilian who can challenge that officer is President Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

If Wike understood how the military operates, he would have contacted the superior officer directly instead of creating unnecessary drama.

The military operates by strict rules — our personal feelings about them don’t change how those rules work.

Wike, as a minister, has no authority to instruct a soldier. That’s simply not how the chain of command works, and no soldier would take orders from him. He should report any issues through the proper military channels.

Soldiers are not superior to civilians, but they also don’t answer to them. In the same way, civilians aren’t inferior to soldiers — we simply operate in different spheres of authority.
In other words, with all due respect, the army can, under orders, arrest a lot of innocent civilians and mistreat them because 'soldiers are under orders'.

You are not a Tinubu supporter as you claimed. But ended up talking down on Obi
Only Tinubu's paid agents talk down on Pbi
Like I said, if it was President Obi in charge, and a soldier talked like that to his minister, I would have said that the soldier was not superior to any of Obi's ministers.

Good morning.

Keep on blabing online...what is not right is not right now army officer have any right be it a General to stop any Governor or FCT minister from accessing a land ..it's a civil matter .. soldiers are not maigaurds for lands .. guarding a land be it a General land or not is not part of their duties..no matter who gave him the order ..he was wrong and ought to step aside when a higher authority came ..it's just that while talking too much calling him a fool or names .. someone like fashola will just walk in through and dare you to shoot ..that's all.. During fashola time Generals were caught using one way and he used the law against them very well .
Was it not a policeman that bounced Sanwo Olu at Magodo?

It's simple...follow chain of command..call a higher person to override the order or shift.

One of Wikes security talked to him to leave the guy

He knows of there’s a shootout, the young man would probably be shot/k111ed, but Wikr would be the first target to be taken out by the Naval Officers

You dont know what military order is. Wike was reckless. Ogogoro no good for him body. There are better channels than confronting an officer that has been given order.

As u wise reach, calling an officer a fool is decent abi? Wike should have forced his way in make we watch small movie. There are proper ways of doing thing's than acting like a drunk

Even who? Who ranks higher than President Tinubu in the military? Do you know the meaning of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces? Some of you are truly ignorant.

Anyway, what I want to see and read soon is the punishment of this soldier and his superior who gave the illegal order. That is all. Totally an illegal assignment carried out and enforced by that soldier.
Because Tinubu is very very street smart and restrained. He will not stoop low to engage a subordinate in public. To prove what that you are powerful.

Wike was trying to play a very high stakes game here and he lost woefully...he wanted to create the impression that even the military is afraid of him...so everyone else should.

Unfortunately soldier not to talm of an Officer will never let a civilian intimidate him in public especially when he is obeying a lawful order giving to him by a retired Chief of Naval Staff.

Yerima is the CSO to the Retired Chief of Naval Staff who ordered them to stop the incessant threat and police harassment by the council men.

They had submitted all the paper work to them and if wike had legal grounds to remove the owner of the property he would have presented the documentation.

The funny thing is that the Naval ratings that were visible were not the only ones there. There would have been a lorry load of them on standby .

Today would have been a blood bath and Wike would not have gone unscathed.

Soldiers are trained to embrace death. Policemen are not built the same.

Nigerians are so shallow. A lot is at play in this confrontation. Let me break it down in simple terms:
a) The Military officer(s) are/were in the wrong. Regardless of how you feel about Wike, the officer should produce the documents of the land. This officer clearly thinks that he and his Oga are above civilian officials. Also, he was clearly disdainful to the police officer, a law enforcement officer of the Nigerian state. If you think our politicians are arrogant and disdainful towards us, the military is ten times worse. This young officer showed the arrogance of the military towards law and order and towards civilian authorities,

b) There is the subtle North-South dynamics at play here. I can bet my liver that if this FCT minister were El-Rufai or Bala Muhammed or Muhammed Bello, this officer of Northern extraction would not have been this openly defiant towards him. He would have said "Rankadede."
The fact is Northerners think they are superior to the rest of the country, especially Christians, and they can't stand an assertive and effective Christian politician like Wike. This officer is clearly expressing the sentiments of the Muslim North, who think that FCT ministry is their birthright, and who are still agrieved that Tinubu chose Wike, a Christian Southerner, as the FCT minister.

I am not a fan of Wike, but it's good we see the dynamics at play in this interaction

Wike is not an elected Governor, he has no immunity. He is just an appointee and have no right whatsoever to drag with a Commissioned Senior officer who is under orders.
The Senior military man that Saluted Gov. Fashola then did it because Fashola had immunity and as a governor, he is the Commanding Officer (ceremonial anyway) of all Armed forces in his state.

Konquest:
Both Lt. A.M Yerima and Wike didn't communicate effectively (or with emotional intelligence). Both of them are guilty to varying degrees of being "egotistic" or not being self-aware in their communication as can be seen in the screenshot and the video.

However, Nyesom Wike is the FCT Minister and should have been accorded that respect by the young military men. He is like a State Governor overseeing the administration of the FCT.

I still remember how the former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji-Fashola got a senior Army officer arrested for using the BRT lane. The officer even had to come out of his vehicle and saluted Babatunde Raji-Fashola in a photograph that went viral online. Period.

There have been situations where Senior officers denied giving such orders when kasala burst, leaving the junior officer holding the bag..I know this because as a lawyer, I have been in many Court Martial cases where such happened...

In the absence of a written and verifiable order, that soldier go use im hand carry shit

His head is still hot....He isn't aware that those who head are hotter than his are not in the army, but in politics determining who lives and who dies...
Carry your yeye lawyer commot for here. If you know law as you claimed, you should know the Soldier obey the last command from their superior. Even when it involves life or death.

You should also know that, only the President have powers to give orders to Soldiers. Even the Minister of Defence can not on his own give orders to Soldiers. Such orders MUST come from the President through the Minister of Defence.

That Young Soldier is doing his job and Nigerians are proud of him. When next you see a Soldier, no do anyhow oo. Cause Solider no send you with your Lawyer shit.

Yes, wike is a land tout literally...but there is no proof that he was there to grab land for now.

If you have proof show it.

P.s : let's not justify wrong please..note that I don't like the man wike. But two wrongs don't make a right

Also fck apc
If Wike had no interest in the land he wouldn't leave the office to go embarrass himself to the whole world.

Weather retired or not. A general is always a general even in death. Secondly, Wike does not have right to be barging into People's private properties without Court order.

Thirdly, the Land was legally acquired during the administration of Buhari. But Wike want to grab the land and possibly resell it or give it to one of his Son's

It is only in Nigeria you read things like these. Who controls the Pentagon? Pete Hegseth, a civilian is the U.S. Secretary of War (formerly Secretary of Defense), mention that person in the U.S. military that will disobey an order from him? There is no general or whoever who outranks Pete Hegseth's civilian authority in the military. Let you guys keep deceiving yourselves in this country.

This Stockholm Syndrome some of you have with previous military rule in Nigeria is a problem. That is why they make some of you do frog jumps and lie in gutters. Wike was even too nice. Go to any NYSC camp and see how a soldier will react to a corper saying they are not foolish after being called so.

This is a civilian government.
Kamaru, This is not US . Besides, no US Minister will call a US Soldier a "fool"

Also, have you ever seeing a US Minister barging into People's private properties to revoke their land?

I think any constituted authority should be respected,no matter how it is done.
Wike should not have called him a fool and the officer doesn't have the power to stop a constituted entity like any Minister of Nigeria from entering a mere land especially when it is for oversight. The Minister stands as the Chief Security Officer of FCT for a specified duration.
Does it mean that anybody can get officers to block the governor or minister if they deem fit?
That will be setting a bad precedence.
