If this is true then that's what probably got into his head. Smh.

Please let us leave out his Dad out for now. The old man served and should be accorded his respect.

I am not sure his Dad or any Dad will be really happy to watch his son have a shouting match with a representative of the President.

I will not be surprised if his Dad is already reaching out to people to intervene. His father may not like the fact that it was even his own son the retired Senior Officer sent on such non-core military task that doesn't count for promotion.

That's not fame but notoriety that can lead to his being dismissed from the armed forces or posted to one obscure place where he will prefer to quit than to take such posting. If he's in Sambisa or our embassy in Polynesia, will he have time for land matters? No nah.
where in the video was the guy shouting back at wike ? Were you expecting the guy to be on his knees , while wike trampled on him?

When you put the poor man in trouble it is you who will be the first to abandon him like Judas Iscariot.

Not even he will be reckless and foolish enough to believe that he can take on the serving naval chief let alone the CDS not to talk of the President.

Small kids all over nairaland.

You are the one who don't know sir.
It is not true that an officer must obey all orders. It is not true. An officer in particular knows the rule of engagement and won't act above the law because of any order let alone one from a retired senior officer.

There's a subsisting order that security agencies personnel should not be directly involved in land matters except acting on court order or official duty by government.

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking the law.

That's a Brigadier General. So you don’t even know their ranks sef and you are referring to academy?

There's nothing special in choosing to go to academy. We all have our preferences and choice. Many got into academy and regretted going there because their heart is elsewhere like Cute Abiola who eventually quit the military for acting.
No serious minded person will go to school and will not be able to communicate with confidence on the subject you know o, not on everything so that you will not speak or behave foolishly
You have comprehension issues.

A retired military officer doesn't have any authority to issue directive to serving military personnel.

If we were to judge the matter by law and legality, Wike will win.

But this matter is complicated.

Vice Admiral AZ Gambo is senior to the current CDS, General Oluyode, and by that, the CDS cannot go against his orders. This is simple military tradition and precedence.

The only person that can give a counter order to the orders of Vice Admiral Gambo is the Commander-In-Chief, Tinubu, but even Tinubu must be careful because there’s a way he’d handle the matter in favour of the law (Wike) and he would anger the rank and file of the military establishment which will not be good at all.

Remember he just survived a coup.

There’s a reason people like AZ Gambo are left alone to do their thing as far as their actions are not very much against the law or threat to public peace and order.

How much does Wike and FCT ministry want to generate from the General registering for his development levy. It’s a totally unnecessary fracas.

I won’t be surprised if Wike is sacked because of this.

He is also a member and fellow of various professional bodies related to management, safety, shipping, and diplomacy.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike accused him of land grabbing and illegal construction.
He is also clearly guilty of abuse of power and bigmanism even in retirement!

Add that to his CV

If Nigeria was a country of law and order with right thinking people, why should military men be guiding private property while the nation barely have enough men to prosecutor it's several wars against terrorists? This is the question we should be asking.
Soldiers are meant to protect territorial integrity of the country not private property.
In sane climes soldiers are rarely seen in public. You only see them in their barracks or fortes. But here every tom dick and Adamu can engage them in meaningless activity.
It's Time we address this abnormality we have normalized for decades.
Wike deserves what he got because he is also an enabler of impunity so it's laughable hearing him talking about law and order.
The impunity will surely go around if someone is not wise enough to stop this sickening culture.

The government should severely penalise him for that stupid act.

to have a whole military general have military men guarding land only means one thing, no proper documentation of the land. Possibility land was grab and stolen.

Smh.

It's obvious that you have not had case in court before or got involved in land matters litigation.

That is bad PR to the retired officer. He could actually land in bigger problems ,even arrested and prosecuted.

The Minister represents the President. If he takes on the Minister then he is taking on the President and that's bad for him.

Interestingly, the retired officer wouldn't send his own son on such errand and when he was a young officer, he wasn't having a shouting match publicly with constituted authorities or behaving the way the young officer behaved to the Minister. If he was behaving like that he would not get to the pinnacle of his career.

FG will investigate the appropriateness or otherwise of a serving or retired senior military officer to give order to a junior officer to restrain a Minister on his lawful duty from performing his duty.
That will be visited to ensure that such disgraceful scene never happens again.

That Junior Officer should have known the limits of his discretion and just kept quiet after saying he was obeying order which has now turned out to be an order given by a retired military officer.

So if tomorrow, retired or serving officers tell him to slap a government official, he will do it niyen.

It was the President he was challenging by placing the 'order ' above the authority of the president delegated to the Minister.

Whatever incentive he got or was promised by the retired Senior Officer for him to behave in that manner must be investigated too. Haba!

It is completely unacceptable that the Minister was prevented from performing his lawful duty by a junior officer acting on the order of a retired military officer. Everyone including the junior officer and the retired Senior naval officer should by now have been rounded up and quizzed if it's not already done.

That video is a very sad event that embarrasses the President and the nation.

The fact that Gambo is retired is something you are misunderstanding. First, for life, he will have Naval officers attached to him. Second, what they do in his service is on the orders of serving superiors. So drop this retired thing.

The way we reason in this country is the reason why we are treated the way they do. Supporting someone who doesn't want anything orderly. Since when did the retired army man equals himself to the president, what is his intentions for now waiting inspection of the land. Does he not know that the FCT can withdraw the land from him,

Doesn't he know what they just did is an insubordination against the president and of you have a coutrary opinion you need to approach the court of law ?

Why using so much soilder to guard a piece of land when we need the soilder to guard against the country ?

Politicians will always find their way around it and approach the court and expect him to flout the court orders and you will eventually see the end.

Ignorance is not bliss o.

The retired Naval Officer ought, under the circumstances, to have engaged the civil police, if he suspected likelihood of arson or criminal trespass.

The one that is funny is the way wike was fooling himself with unneccessary talks...I don finish university before dey even born you. That was very disappointing of him...he neglected the fact that he was a public figure and needed to choose his words wisely before talking. In a sane country no one cares of age, but ability/capabability.
