Wike knew who owns the Land.

He just wanted to go there to show himself. Nothing stops him from sending the head of FCDA to go there. I have not seen Sanwo Olu going round Lagos to ask for land documents. Wike is too big to be doing that in Abuja.

If that guy had shifted for Wike, he would have held a conference, highlighting how he is stopping illegal lands in Abuja.

Sadly, it backfired
Wike is not really as bright minded as some people assume he is.

That call he made to the CDS in the last minute of the video should've been made in his office without having to go with press crew to chop public disgrace.

If the FCDA had reported to you that they are facing difficulty carrying out enforcement because some powerful military officer is using soldiers to deny them access to the property, he should've gathered information about the military personnel, put a calm through to the CDS or CNS and report the situation to him.

If he had done that, those ones would've enlightened the person involved is their superior and the only way forward is to find an amicable solution to the matter......

But Wike being Wike felt going to site with over 50 policemen, DSS officers and press men would suddenly make him the face of "fight against impunity". Unfortunately for him, it backfired and he's made the young officer a hero

BlueRayDick:
Wike said “I have spoken to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff. They assured me that the matter will be resolved. We’re not here to have a shootout with anybody or cause chaos,”.

We all know the current CDS and CNS who are juniors to the ex-CNS (whom the officer was following his order) would not side with Wike. The fact that the CDS didn't even order the officer to vacate the premises during the phone call says a lot.

Wike has disgraced himself and that is that. He will forever live with that fact and the officer will grow in his military career if not for anything, the restraint and discipline he showed in that video will propel his career. So many senior men would want him to serve in their unit, he's a potential great leader.
Again Wike was very phoollish to have confronted the officer, if he had sense he wouldn't have engaged the officer after been respectfully told that they were there on the order of a Vice Admiral. Instead of him saying ok i will take it up with the CNS or CDS and leave peacefully, he choose to escalate the matter in his usual uncouth manner and got thoroughly cleaned on the floor by the very intelligent and disciplined commissioned officer. He will never try similar shit against the military again...

It was low from him.

Even after being told he was on orders, he should have respectfully climbed the guy to his superiors, rather than shouting like a Giri junction tout.

I am sure all the parties involved would probably schedule a meeting.

Something as simple as this, would have saved our Honorable Minister a lot of embarrassment

Sorry but we are no longer under a military dictatorship. In a democracy, the military is subjected to civilian control.

Nobody has the power to deploy soldiers for an internal operation without the approval of Mr. President. So, it is illegal to deploy soldiers to go and be protecting a private land of a retired soldier.

Again, it is illegal for anybody to obstruct FCT officials from carrying out their legitimate duties. If we allow just anybody to use access to military boys to stop government officials from doing their jobs, then we are creating a banana republic.

Finally, all lands in the FCT are vested in the Minister of the FCT. He has the power to allocate and cancel the allocation. If the former CNS is dissatisfied with the decision of the FCT minister, he should approach the court and not resort to self help. Obstructing FCT officials including preventing the minister from accessing the land in such a rude and unprofessional manner is unacceptable. Those soldiers should be made to face disciplinary action immediately.
This is what any person who actually cares about our democracy and the rule of law should be on.

Pray you don't buy a piece of land tomorrow, and because all powers are vested with a Minister, they cancel your allocation.

You don't even know if the said Admiral has his documents. You don't even know if Wike is trying to grab it.

Both parties said they have a genuine cause. Why not let a court decide?

You're supporting democracy, but you are okay with any Minister waking up to cancel allocations because he has the power.

Pray make e no be you

It would be determined whether the minister is performing his duty in court, but not on the field
Leave am make he dey jonse with military.
As governor, he can revoke, destroy properties as he wish because he enjoys immunity from legal prosecution but he cannot try that as a political appointee. If he has the evidence, he should approach the court, obtain a court order. No be to dey send FCTA ministry 2 dey intimidate engineer & workers wey dey develop d land.

In your own words "why not let a court decide?". We should be directing that question to the person that sent soldiers there. He has no right to deploy soldiers there without a court order, and court won't even issue such order because only police can carryout such internal actions according to the constitution.

It's either y'all want democracy or not. If you want a military dictatorship, say it. This isn't a military regime.

You just quoted a post that made some fooolish absolute statements that are not factually true.

He claims Wike has powers to allocate and cancel allocation of all lands in the FCT. What some of you don't know is that if u want to quote the law/invoke rule of law, you can't stop midway because it favors your argument, u must follow it to the later. If you want democracy to be fully operational, then people in government too should be willing to act within the confines of the law!

Wike has a power to revoke allocation only if the revocation is done for the sake of overriding public interest. i.e maybe the government wants to use the land for hospital, airport, or any other purpose for the public good.

Wike has been revoking allocations and re allocating same lands to friends, families and cronies which is complete illegality. How is that following rule of law? The only reason Wike has been doing that rubbish is because of the sorry state of our judiciary; he knows if he revokes your land illegally and u go to court, u will spend millions of naira as legal fees fighting for justice for several years and u may still not get justice.

I guess Some of you actually think the people you converse with here are dunces who do not know their right from left.

[quote author=BlueRayDick post=137441067]This boy too get steeze abeg!

So Wike called the CDS expecting CDS to blast the captain on phone only for the captain to explain matters to CDS mentioning how he's out there on the order of the admiral.

Wike was really humbled!

the call, he thought the young officer was gonna be asked to love out the way. Thats why he staryed feeling like God and shouting...only to still be denied entrance

Since when is a minister carrying out his duty disgracing himself in public? What the hell is this.

Wike is actually doing his duty and standing up against the military who were trespassing in an illegal land. Kudos to him
